Twisted Sister - 'Twisted Christmas' (Razor & Tie) .......2007-06-10
Review no. 60. I'll give this CD a four-star rating for effort alone. I mean, when I first heard about this ten track release in advance, I really didn't think that Dee Snider and crew could pull it off. Glad to see that I was wrong. Wanted to catch Twisted Sister last time they were in my town but I didn't get to go. If I ever get to see them again, I really would like to hear them perform one or two of these cuts even on a summer tour. Tunes I was impressed the most with were "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful", "White Christmas", "Silver Bells", the rocking "Deck The Halls" and "The Christmas Song". Personally, I think even patrons that don't usually like metal would enjoy this disc to some extent. A should-have.
I LOVE this Christian music christmas album!!!.......2007-05-07
Twisted Sister BRINGS the christmas feeling year round. (This is a CD to be listened to at any time of the year.) When I listen to it, it makes me feel better. "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" are my favorite songs. Overall, it is an excellent CD. Now, if Twisted Sister would just make another Christian music christmas album for Christmas 2007, then I would be overjoyed.
I loved it.......2007-04-25
I think this album contains my favorite version of "O Come All Ye Faithful." Seriously.
Yeah it's crazy, it's kooky, and it's twisted.......2007-02-15
The Good
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" starts off as if the group has softened in their old age. Eventually someone reminds them who they are and the Christmas classic gets pumped up. They even add a Ramones inspired section at the end. "O Come All Ye Faithful" sounds just like "We're Not Gonna Take It;" from the main riff to the note-for-note solo. Twisted Sister's version of "White Christmas" is a far cry from Bing Crosby's. The chugga-chugga riffing and blazing solos are just one of the many differences. A voice from the past is resurrected for the power ballad version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas." Dee Snider trades vocals with 80s metal queen Lita Ford on this one. It's almost as if "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause" was meant to be a metal song. Everything just falls into place. "The Christmas Song" has sort of that "Burn in Hell" vibe to it.
The Bad
"Heavy Metal Christmas," set to the tune of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," is kind of lame as the 12 gifts are replaced with metal clichés.
The Verdict
Yeah it's crazy, it's kooky, and it's twisted, but it's also really fun and enjoyable for 80s metal fans.

Inspired by the astoundingly popular The Three Tenors series, Broadway director Marion J. Caffey conceived and directed Three Mo' Tenors, bringing greater visibility to the classically trained African American voice. Starring seasoned tenors Roderick Dixon, Thomas Young, and Victor Trent Cook, Three Mo' Tenors is a theatrically staged concert set taped for public television's Great Performances. A companion to the taped show, the disc features just over an hour of live music from it. The phenomenal showmanship of Dixon, Young, and Trent Cook takes shape in the styles of opera, Broadway, blues, jazz, soul, spirituals, and gospel. The three virtuosos hit high C's with clarity and brilliance; scat with grace and grit; belt, bend and hold a note to beat the band. They move the audience to a state of near-ecstasy performing the traditional "Were You There (When They Crucified My Lord)" and Puccini's glorious "Nessum Dorma." Other standouts include the jazz classic "Twisted," a rollicking version of "Today I Sing the Blues," and the salty "Minnie the Moocher." Boisterous, bold, and bountiful, Three Mo' Tenors is a modern classic. --Paige LaGrone
Customer Reviews:
Bravo! Mo' Mo' Mo'.......2006-05-13
The word "Mo'" in the title got my attention. I bought the CD to compare it to the already popular "Three Tenors" (Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras). Wow! Was I surprised. I had expected an all opera, classical and possibly spiritual repetoire. But, the music varies from "Nessun Dorma" to "Love Train" was truly, truly delightful. I enjoyed the wonderful voices of Thomas Young, Roderick Dixon, and Victor Trent Cook and the variety of musical selections so much that I purchased several other copies for my family and friends. Then, several months later, I saw their performance on PBS. I immediately ordered the VHS offered by the TV station, paying way, way over the retail price. But, I had to have it. It was, and is, the most exciting musical performance that I have seen. Later, when I put the tape into the player at my son's house, my 5-year-old granddaughter Ciara stood next to the sofa to watch. I expected her to move away soon, but, she stood there, during the entire playback of the performance, and I do mean from beginning to end. I left the tape there so that son could see it later. The following day, and for most days during the next several weeks, Ciara asked to have the tape played, until she later was taught to handle it herself. The family has since replaced my VHS with the DVD so that now, when Ciara visits me, we can watch the show again (and again). "Three Mo' Tenors" was so surprisingly wonderful- with great voices, charismatic personalities, terrific orchestral arrangements, lively and precisely choreographed routines, and just an overall feeling of mutual admiration and respect among the three gentlemen. The beautiful cinematics, with frequently interspersed shots of the enthusiatic audience, contributes to the feeling that I am actually there at the concert. Every time I watch it, I see and hear something new. When I first heard the CD, I was not fascinated by the countertenor voice. After seeing Victor Trent Cook's heartwarming performance on the DVD, and hearing his comment about his mother's definition of a countertenor, I have been granted a new appreciation for his voice. Here it is, years later, and I'm still enamored, remembering Roderick Dixon's "Make Them Hear You" elicits tears, Thomas Young's "Twisted" makes me laugh, and the duet with Victor and Thomas (see, I'm now on first-name basis with them) is so beautiful. I could to on and on. In fact, it's time for another listen.
This is a must have for any music lover!.......2006-01-07
I would rate this CD more than five stars if I could! I picked up this CD not knowing anything about these guys, but, knowing that I liked some of the songs contained on it. I was absolutely blown away by this collection! These guys have it all. Voices, talent, showmanship, style, technique, etc. Everytime I listen to it, I feel like I'm sitting right there in the theatre. I am a huge fan of opera, jazz and gospel. This CD covers it all! Although my favorite tracks are La Donna e Mobile, Make Them Hear You, and Nessun Dorma, they are all so good! I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again. You have to hear them to believe them!
wonderful collection of music.......2005-08-23
A good album is one that can't be categorized neatly. Three Mo' Tenors tackles classic opera, Broadway tunes and other genres with ease. They have beautiful voices, and the music they choose to interpret is so universal that even my toddler girl loves listening to it! Their technical expertise combined with their stage presence and charisma makes for an enjoyable cd. Highly recommended - especially if you are looking to introduce yourself or your children to different musical genres.
awesome music selection.......2005-08-02
These are amazing musical selections and amazing vocalists; a must-have for any well-rounded music collection. This trio can really sing!
They Left Out The Best Song.......2004-11-11
One of my most favorite performance DVD's, but how, or why, on earth did they leave off the most stiring single number on the CD - "A Song For You," by Rodrick Dixon?
Put it in, and it's a "five."

Bob Rivers is in top form here plying his satire-ridden stocking-stuffer trade, serving up note-per-note knockoffs of everyone from Led Zeppelin and the B52s to Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, and Tchaikovsky, among others. No lazy satirists, Rivers and company deliver not only grand musical copies but clever and witty lyrics that slum on the gutter side only occasionally ("Buttcracker Suite" being the biggest offender). The rest of the time it's good-natured stuff even ol' Scrooge could like. "It's the Most Fattening Time of the Year" apes Johnny Mathis, "Sled Zeppelin" nails the Plant-Page matrix, and the Beatles' rips, "Jesus' Birthday" and "All You Need Is Elves," also highlight the 13 tracks. But the most inspired cuts are a big-band swing version of the Rolling Stones' "Get off My Cloud" (here retitled "Hey You! Get Off My House") and Hendrix's "Purple Haze," knowingly recast as "Holidaze (Scuze Me, I've Got Gifts to Buy)." If that one doesn't grab yer funny bone, it may be time for that humor-marrow transplant. --Martin Keller

Get this one, not the other twisted Christmas album.......2007-02-21
Really, really good imitations and impressions of famous stars doing Christmas songs. I was amazed.
Hilarious.......2007-02-07
Read other reviews about this album as "a great alternative to the same ol' Christmas music" and couldn't agree more. I listen to it throughout the year. Love it.
Second Only To The First "Twisted Christmas"!.......2004-12-24
I have all of the Bob Rivers' "Twisted Christmas" CDs, and the original "Twisted Christmas" and "More Twisted Christmas" are still the best. Rivers and his gang do hilarious parodies of actual Christmas songs, rather than just making up funny Christmas songs.
Some people might consider Bob Rivers irreverant, but those of us here love him!
Better music, but the jokes are still lame.......2004-11-30
These songs at least sound similar to the original performer. The jokes are still juvinile and lame.
More Twisted Christmas.......2003-12-31
Sorry but this was a big disappointment from the first Twisted Christmas CD which I love. I really didn't find the songs funny at all compared to the first one. Probably because the songs on the second CD are not done to holiday music but top popular music like the Beatles and it just doesn't work. Part of the charm is singing the twisted words to the real holiday songs that brings some sanity to the harried season. I loved the first Twisted Christmas and would highly recommend it. This one is not worth the postage to mail it back. 3 stars is over-rated but I feel generous today.

My favorite Christmas music!.......2007-07-23
I have all the Bob Rivers Christmas Albums and I love every one of them. I am a big collector of Christmas CD's and I'm impressed with the talent that Bob Rivers shows. He does more than put different lyrics to familer tunes; he duplicates the musical arraingments of the original recordings and even uses voice impersonators. I love his duet with "Bing Crosby and David Bowie"! I have the original "Little Drummer Boy" duet with Bing and David and the parody version nails the chorus perfectly! Check out his other twisted CD's.

Skip this album, but do get the other Twisted Christmas by the same group.
Love it.......2007-02-07
I bought this cd and his follow up "more Twisted Christmas." I absolutely love both albums. They are so funny.
An irreverent (but hilarious!) fun Christmas CD.......2007-01-25
I love singing along with Bob Rivers! When the shopping becomes a little harried the traffic is backed up to the next state, and you've heard "Blue Christmas" 100 times TOO MANY, these songs inject a little humor into the holiday. I'll just bet you feel like some of the songs were written just for you! NOT your traditional Christmas album, it will always have a place in my collection of Christmas music! (I like this CD better than his 2nd one.)
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!.......2006-12-23
I hold Christmas just as sacred as the next person, but this disc is just TOO FUNNY to pass up! "The Restroom Door Said Gentleman"...."Foreigners"....."Wreck The Malls"....."The Twelve Pains Of Christmas"......if this disc doesn't make you laugh, check yourself for a pulse!

Looking for irreverence in your holiday nut mix? Bob Rivers does such a great job of social, political, and seasonal satire under the guise of many a familiar holiday tune that he's lucky he hasn't been run over by a reindeer. Rivers apes all the department-store Santas (sung to the tune of "Here Comes Santa Claus") with "There's Another Santa Claus," lambastes "Teddy Kennedy the Red-Nosed Senator," and sends up Marlon Brando's Godfather in the inspired "A Letter to Santa," which warns of Santa's movement into mob territory. There are a few clunkers among the moving and snoozing targets, but Rivers nearly always elicits a chuckle. The biggest yuks, though, come on the title track as he reaches back to Black Sabbath's "I Am Ironman" classic to turn dear old Santa into a heavy-metal monster. Call it "Headnog"--and get it for the unholy rollers on your list. --Martin Keller

Bob River's is the BEST!.......2007-07-23
Bob River's is a very talented guy. I own all his CD's and I listen to them over and over again. My husband complains that he's tired of listening to the same 5 Christmas CD's so I emailed Mr. Rivers and asked him if he was planning to release a new CD in the future. He responded (I was surprised he took the time to answer my email!) and said that he was hoping to release a new Christmas CD in a year! I can hardly wait! If you like comedy, I would recommend all 5 of his Xmas CD's.

Very twisted and very funny. A real must for the Christmas Grinch
Truly twisted.......2007-01-12
This is great for unstuffing the holidays. My teen really loved it. She just couldn't stop laughing. Bob Rivers takes old favorites and gives them new words to stop you in your tracks.

I Laughed at every tune on this CD, from "What if God Smoked Cannibis" to "Manger 6". The selection was all songs I knew well and could immediately see the twisted change to. I would recommend this to anyone who did not hate humor.

Novelty Christmas tunes come and go, but "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" has the shelf life of plutonium. If there were any goof justice in the world, a few more of these fractured numbers on Dr. Elmo's Twisted Christmas would be almost as popular. Elmo has managed to align so many twisted notions that they sometimes gleefully border on the sociopathic ("Christmas Won't Be the Same Without Johnny"). Then there's cultural fixation with celebrity as evidenced in "Grandma's Spending Christmas with the Superstars" and the down-and-out "Junk Bond Christmas Blues." Throw in some tunes about killer fruitcake, a lawsuit against Santa, and a few other off-kilter themes one doesn't usually associate with the season, and the bad Doctor has created a laughfest that merrily borders on the maniacal. --Martin Keller

great fun great value can,t wait till next xmas to start playing it again
What Happened After She Got Run Over By The Reindeer?.......2001-08-28
I am amazed this album doesn't get more play. "Grandma Got Run over by a Reindeer" became an overnight and permanent classic but Dr. Elmo has been virtually ignored in the grab bag for holiday hits since, and this hysterical collection makes for some hilarious holiday fun. After Grandma died, you see, she went on to spend Christmas somewhere far above us with some greats like Liberace, Elvis et al, in "Grandma's Spending Christmas With the Superstars" - the natural completion for the song the started it all. In the meantime "Grandpa's Gonna Sue the Pants off of Santa" and this tune proves it, mapping out Grandpa's revenge for the accident as well as Santa's legal representative. "Grandma's Killer Fruitcake" simply has to be heard. We've all gotten enough of the stuff and you will hear a few new uses for it in this ditty. "Here's to the Lonely" is woefully out of place in this CD, it is a sad ballad to spending the holiday alone. It threw me off at first, hidden deep in this group of goofiness, but I have grown to love it. And finally...finally...Dr. Elmo has his very own lament, "Don't Make My Play That Grandma Song Again" - funny, catchy, perhaps it mirrors his own thoughts as to why these other songs get no respect. This one is fun. Go get you one.

Bob Rivers Does it again and again!.......2007-04-02
Being a Bob Rivers enthusiast, I enjoyed this boxed set of Cds. The year in review was a little lame, but the other two disks were the typical Christmas quality!
wreck the malls.......2006-02-19
sound more suzi quatro than suzi. other titles are very good, funnyand not offensive. good work
only 2 of the 3 CDs are Christmas.......2005-12-19
I did not realize that only 2 of the boxed set are Twisted Christmas CDs. The third is 1994 a year in review. I would have prefered all Twisted Christmas CDs other wise i would have purchased them seperatly. The two Christmas ones are great!
Funny!! Tongue in cheek laugh at our holiday, hit and metal faves!.......2005-12-01
Metaldiva Sez:
This set is a "must have" for everyone that enjoys the "almost lost" art of satire and take-offs of their favorite holiday, everyday and metal hits and styles. Nothing better than relaxing enough in these crazy, sad times to laugh at ourselves. The Metal take-offs are a blast!!! I first heard "I Am Santa Claus" done to Sabbath's "Iron Man" in December 1998 along with "Walking 'Round in Women's Underwear" done to "Winter Wonderland" on my way to a relocation in Los Angeles. My heart was heavy from the move and they made me crack up and laugh out loud. The imitations are really, really good and can take even metal afficionados like me have to turn-it-up and really listen hard to hear if it is the original artist or not. My metalbaby sons love these and some of the lyrics may be a bit racy to have a 6 and 13 year repeat at school, so parental discretion should be used (as with every truly decent metal song. But my entire family Rockgod, Metalbabes, and yours truly, the Metaldiva herself say get this and have a greatly needed laugh anytime of the year!!!
No One Can Compare To Rivers' Humor!.......2003-03-05
I have to admit that I like all of Bob's music. I have been purchasing these items each time a new one is for sale. The way that Bob Rivers uses classical music for some of his work is hilarous and his version of Christmas songs just cannot be beat. There isn't any other comedy recordings that I find as good as these. I recommend all of his CD's.

Album Description
Yes, Virginia, there is a sanity clause, but Twisted Sister have chosen to ignore it and they've recorded a yuletide offering as their official swan-song! No, really. For their final studio album, Dee Snider and those crazy critters from Twisted Sister ring in the holidays with 10 merry Metal melodies, including nine classics like 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas', 'Silver Bells', 'I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus' and others, plus a track entitled 'Heavy Metal Christmas'. The perfect stocking stuffer. Demolition. 2006.

UK Twisted Christmas version difference from USA.......2007-06-30
Track #3 "White Christmas" is a duet with Dee Snider and Doro Pesch, just AWESOME! Doro sings in German, Dee English. UNIQUE COMBO!
Track #4 "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is a duet with Dee Snider and Lita Ford, BRILLIANT!
Finally, special BONUS Track #12 is "White Christmas" featuring Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda singing in Spanish!
This CD is dedicated to Eddie's Dad Jesus G. Ojeda who passed away while he was on tour in the UK and Eddie had to return home. CC Deville stepped in to help TS ROCK! God Bless Eddie and his family. A beautiful tribute. ;)
I am noted in the credits as I was invited to sing here on Long Island in the USA by Mark The Animal Mendoza. It was the most memorable experience of my life. I will never forget this event. I will be forever grateful and 4EVA an SMF!
TS LIVES in MY HEART 4EVA! I love them all!!!! The best of the best!
