This album is just one of the great prank c.d.'s Rickey's made.

The tracks that aren't listed are the ones I didn't find amusing.

02. Sweet Milk (10/10) - The first prank. Granny calls Krogers and asked for some sweet milk every other, other question, it's hilarious.

05. My Toes Fell Off (9/10) - Too much! Granny calls the hospital and tells the nurses that two of her toes fell off, it's really funny.

06. Got Cheese? (10/10) - What's really funny about this prank is half of the time, he's on hold singing and cussin', real funny. Then tells the man that sister Cora's bowel's locked up and passed away and needs cheese that won't lock up the church member's. Very funny!

07. Monroe's Momma (9/10) - An argument prank, one of my favorites. Granny calls this guys mom and stirs her up and she starts cussin' and carrying on. Then Granny says she's gonna do a pray-by. She's gonna drive by her house and throw some little green Bibles on her porch. Really funny.

08. My Baby's Daddy (09/10) - What's good about this one is another comedian, "Small Fry" is featured on this prank. They call some chinese guy and she starts carryin' on about why you leave my mommy? It's real good.

09. Churches Chicken (9/10) - The first prank I ever heard from Rickey. Granny calls and asks about what time is the service and sunday school. The main prank.

The rest I don't really listen to, but 13. Remember Me Ballin, a medley by Granny is really funny.

I loved it on video on cable back in the day...love it now. Brings you down memory lane!!!! Eddie Murphy at his funniest.

For those looking, this IS the HBO "Delirious" concert set.......2005-05-19

Just wanted to clarify that for anyone looking for Eddie Murphy's very first HBO special "Delirious", this is it (the audio anyway). I'm not positive its that _exact_ night (him using a fan's camera to take a picture of his crotch isn't on this CD) but it _is_ the Delirious comedy routine. Its all here, gay Ralph Kramden & Ed Norton, gay Mr.T, Ricky "Its just so rediiiculous" Ricardo etc.

This is Eddie Murphy's first and finest routine. None of his later specials or even any of his films ever surpassed this stand-up set.

Spawned a Million Hacks.......2004-04-25

Unfortunately, it's hard to fully appreciate this album today. Why, you ask? Because 99% of the "comedians" on ComicView and Def Jam have COVERED it, that's why. Their mannerisms, their material, their delivery...just about everything they do is derived from this great record.

In doing so, these thieves have killed the entertainment value of COMEDIAN for those who weren't around to enjoy it when it was new. But hey, buy it anyway as an act of protest.

Classic example of 80's standup comedy.......2003-05-07

This album is a classic 80's comedy album. For those of you who have seen Delirious a lot of the main stuff from that video is on this CD. The Mr T material is of course classic as is the Mick Jagger description.

This album does have a substantial amount of swearing which may offend some people and you shouldn't buy this album by mistake if you're looking for something for the kiddies because they like Donkee from Shrek or Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor. The swearing isn't just mindless though it does fit the comedy.

A lot of the comedy is rather dated but it does reflect the times of the 80's. The Aids stuff especially related to the fear and unknown aspects of the disease at the time. I found it interesting his description of Michael Jackson which reflects what the king of pop was like in the early 80's. There's a fair bit of prejudice jokes against homosexuals, women and other races but if you can overlook that those jokes are pretty funny.

On this album Eddie tells about why he became a comedian, his childhood and other hilarious stuff. Some of the gags are obviously visual which is a bit stupid. It's not as funny as his earlier self titled one but it's still worth listening to.

THIS MAN IS FUNNY!!!!.......2002-12-31

Just the other day, I was cleaning out my attic and I happen to find a cd with a fairly, handsome young man by the name of Eddie Murphy.

I didn't think nothing of it, I thought it was another R&B classic, but I came across the word "Comedian", and just got hooked to the cd. I stopped what I was doing, and played it on my stereo.

This CD is hilarious. It begins with Eddie Murphy talking about faggots, and how he's scared of gay people. The most offensive, but funniest part was when he wondered if Mr.T was a faggot. He was imatating a gay Mr.T and the guys from the honey mooners.

Eddie Murphy pokes fun at all the celebrities from Mick Jagger to Stevie Wonder. My favorite tracks is "Singers", "Ice Cream Man, Shoe Throwing Mothers"and "The Barbeque". I like this CD not only because it's funny, but it takes you back to childhood,and by me being from the "old school" I could relate to some of the stuff he said that reminded me of "real life"

Boy, you just didnt know how excited I was finding this CD. This CD happens to be funnier than a lot of comical CDs that were out after '83. This is a CD you just cant live without. Though, Eddie Murphy wasnt this funny after Delirious, I rather stick with THIS Eddie Murphy, when he was new and knew how to kill a crowd with his hilarious jokes.

Eddie, you did a good job. Wished you could have made some more comicial albums like this. I almost died listening to you!!! Fans, if you're feeling down and depressed, or just looking for a good time, buy this CD. You wont be disapointed.

Long quarantined to the province of obsessive record collectors and historical nitpickers (rock scribe supreme Lester Bangs--a mutant spawn of those two groups if there ever was--loved them like family), the Comedian Harmonists are making their stateside debut some 70 years after their heyday. For a spell, the Harmonists were the toast of pre-WWII Berlin, flooring audiences with their dizzying harmonic acuity. But their harmonies are only half the story. The Comedian half of the CH equation comes from--among other tricks--an astute knack for vocal mimicry. On Duke Ellington's "Creole Love Call" they imitate kazoo, muted trumpet, trombone, even theremin to positively alien effect. But the Harmonists' good humor belies the exacting skill and recurrent hint of sorrow and longing that pervades their work. Their rendering of Cole Porter's classic "Night and Day," with its paradoxical taskmaster's precision and soft sentimentality, accounts for one of the many shining moments on this compilation. Can't stop listening.......2006-03-15

I love this CD - it has the most important songs that the Comedian Harmonists did and the quality of the remastered recordings is very good. The songs are so phenomenal that I just keep listening to them. This CD is a great way to become familiar with this unique group, especially before seeing the Barry Manilow musical based on their experience now on its way to Broadway. I also recommend the movie "The Harmonists" (in German).

Comedians always make the best drama.......2003-10-14

Just as comedians so often make good dramatic actors, these 'comedian' harmonists were the finest of their time. A friend of a friend passed me a cassette tape of them in Germany in 1995, and I listened to it for years without knowing who they were, awed by the complexity of their harmony and the simple charm of their melodies. I think Matt's reference to Elmer Fudd can be explained by the similarity of their musical styles to early music of Warner Brothers and Disney cartoons; the Harmonists loved American jazz and blues records, as you can tell by the list of titles on this CD. Fans of the band should see the German biopic, The Comedian Harmonists, for a decent telling of their tragic story--at the height of their fame in Germany, and on the brink of international success, the blight of Hitler's dark parade ruined their careers and dashed their hopes of spreading their music across the Atlantic to the country that had inspired so much of their ground-breaking music.

Even if you don't understand their German lyrics, the music of the Harmonists will cheer you, especially if you have any nostalgic feeling for the old tunes we hear in the earliest Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons. A musician will tell you there's nothing trivial about their talent -- singing stuff like this is *hard* -- but you don't have to be a musician to love this stuff.

YOU GOTTA HEAR IT!!!!.......2002-12-18

Sui generis is right!!! Six voices that blend so harmoniously - it's a joy to hear!!! Regretablly, the group broke up because some members were Jewish and migrated before Hitler's policies were enforced throughout Germany. Interestingly enough, the last surviving member of the group, Roman Cycowski, died about two years ago, and was the oldest living cantor in the U.S. at the time of his death. One can only speculate about the group's popularity and influence if allowed to remain together.

Brilliant vintage hamonics!.......1999-07-21

The Comedy Harmonists were an a close harmony group who recorded in Germany from '28 to the late '30's. They were harassed and force to disband because of Nazi disapproval of their semitic origins as well as their avant-guarde, jazz-oriented material. They sing here in German and English doing everything from folk songs to Tea for Two with clarity, musical grace and lightness. Their comic songs are very deft and witty. If you enjoy close harmonics, you will find this recording a revelation.

Delightful music, wonderful harmony and clever use of voices. Saw the movie called The Harmonists and became enraptured with these men. There must be 50 cd's to choose from, but this one incorporated their best work.
