Altough this album came out many years ago, the choas and organized madness that layers this piece still overwhelm even the most hardcore of tablist heads. even to those outside of the scratch community in the more "public music" mindset that appriciate it for the concept album that it is may still not understand the audio of the album unless they accompany that with the dvd film that was spawned by the album. This cd is....for lack of a better comparison, hip hops "Tommy", its "Rocky Horror Picture Show", or even "the Wall" to really praise this piece. To say it so few words, this is not a hip-hop concept album. but rather, it is THE hip-hop EPIC.

Fan's of turntablism and speaker shredding scratching will enjoy this CD. 'Wave Twisters' is a scratchfest cavalcade, similar to the turntablist ferocity of 'Live at Future Primitive Sound Session' by Cut Chemist. Hypnotic, trancelike, with spine-chilling beats. The samples are minimal, but maintain soulful, almost tribal-like pulsating rhythms, somewhat like NWA's 'Straight Outta Compton'. The scratches aurally bombard you from all angles, almost like spread-out laser-beams echoing in the dark. It's amazing how something relatively stripped-down can sound so powerful and dense. Essential.

By far one of the most technically and musically talented dj's so far! Always ten steps ahead of the rest of the turntablist world. This can only be said about only so few dj's out there, It's been said to never show this man whatever scratch or new technique you've invented, 'cuz he'll take what you've invented and re-invent it and make it better. After hearing this album... I can beleive that!! Much respect to Qbert for paving the way in this art.. he's one of the few that make dj'n what it is, AN ARTFORM!! He's defenitely the man!!

great CD for little babies.......2007-07-05

I am native spanish and this CD is the closest to the music I've had when I was little. Music is soft with no annoying voices. My 4 month old baby loves it already. Many of the songs are fun to dance with and in others you can signal with your hands while singing. Highly recommended.

Great CD and fun to listen too for parents...and baby!.......2006-12-23

We have a 10 month old and we can only speak English to her. To introduce her to the Spanish language we got this CD of music and the whole family loves it, including the little one. We all love dancing around the living room while its playing. Its also has 5 or 6 spoken parts to expose the baby to the spoken word. Also, its been a great CD to put her to sleep with because to songs are so soft an pleasing. You can't go wrong with this one!

Excellent sound quality, diversity of voices/songs.......2006-05-27

As a non-native Spanish speaker trying to expose our daughter to as much Spanish as possible (my husband only speaks English to her), this is a perfect CD with easily understood (i.e. not too fast, nor too many voices singing at once) and fun music in Spanish. The music quality is great and diversity of people singing (women, men, children) is broader than other CD's I've heard. Also, there are quite a few tracks!

Good musicians and creative arrangements.......2005-11-28

It can be hard to find children's music in Spanish that parents can also enjoy, but this is it. These performers sing well and have put together some delightful arrangments of old standards as well as some new songs. My Spanish-speaking kids (ages 4 and 1) love it and always get up to dance during their favorites.

Wacky word fun for elementary age wordsters.......2006-08-07

My eight year old granddaughter and I listen, laughing as we try to sing the silly songs (the lyrics are included). As a recently retired teacher, I believe it builds her linguistic skills but she simply finds it silly and fun. Although she likes them all, she is best at Oodles and Oodles of Noodles.

After Clifton Chenier died in 1987 the title of "King of Zydeco" passed to Alton Rubin, better known as Rockin' Dopsie. Often performing in a crown and cape, the accordion playing Dopsie was a regal and rockin' ruler until his death in 1993. His most fully realized session and the one essential Dopsie album, this disc shows Dopsie and his band, The Zydeco Twisters at their upbeat best. Tunes like "I'm in the Mood," Little Richard's "Keep a-Knockin' and Rubin's own "Zydeco Two-Step" are among his best. The covers here are also all keepers and include two Clifton Chenier tunes, "Josephine C'est pas ma femme" and "Hot Tamale Baby" as well as Chicago bluesman Jimmy Rogers's "That's All Right" and a great rendition of Guitar Slim's New Orleans classic "Things That I Used to Do." --Robert Baird

Funky Party Music Bayou Style !.......2000-10-22

I have an autographed copy of this album somewhere. Here in Philly we used to have this festival called "The Jambalaya Jam" (still do, but different name) and loads of groups, known and lesser known would come up from Louisiana. - - The year Rockin Dopsie debuted (1985?) I think the Neville's and Dr. John headlined. Dopsie was on at 5:00 in the afternoon... and I remember my first impressions of the group when they were tuning up... a guy who looked like B.B. King playing blues licks on an ACCORDIAN - - his son is wearing a cooking apron and a washboard, and the bass player was tuning up playing these funky licks that were so deep, it felt like I was getting kicked in the but... I practically stared at Alton Rubin Sr. (Rockin' Dupsie) and the accordian thinking, "What the...?" and then they started... MAN, DID THEY SMOKE... they won Philly over, and became very popular at the festival from then on (even before getting a moment of fame on Paul Simon's Graceland album) - - Yes, it's cajun bayou music, yes its the blues... and yes, a lot of the songs are in French... that was wierd for me too at the time because they were black dudes, and I'm from Philadelphia... and we didn't even have a lot of Hatian dudes, let alone French speaking people playing blues on the accordian with Conked har and opening their show with James Brown and Sam and Dave numbers... but this band was so exciting and they won us over. - - Sr. is up in heavy now heatin' things up with Clifton Chenier... and Buckwheat who was also unknown at the time went on to fame as an opening act for Eric Clapton... and all these years later... both I and the CD have met on the net, and I think I'm going to get it, cos' as many times as I listened to that album, it must be pretty beat up. *Etwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ! (*or however you spell it !)
