Astonishing!!!!.......2004-07-19
I have always been a fan of celebrity impersonation and when I came upon this CD, I ordered it instantly. I had read about Jim Bailey online and really wanted to hear him. He is fantastic as each and every diva he portrays. From Judy Garland to Barbra Streisand to Peggy Lee (and he even performs a few tracks as himself... what a voice!). Right after I got this recording, I was listening to Jim as Barbra singing "Don't Rain On My Parade", and my mom came into the room and thought I was listening to the REAL BARBRA! Thats how good he is!
Oder this CD now... Amazon onlys asking like $4.99... even though I'd have to say it's worth over $20!!!
WOW!.......2002-12-13
Purchased the CD after seeing Jim Bailey perform as himself at the Wilde Goose in Palm Springs, CA. His styling is superb and I wanted the CD. I was amazed and thrilled to discover that a number of songs were done in character as Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand and Peggy Lee, as well as selctions by Jim Bailey as himself. I truly enjoyed his rendition of Quiet Please, Small World and This Is All I Ask. It made the purchase worthwhile. However. His interpretation of Streisand singing Don't Rain on My Parade, Judy's Swanee, You Made Me Love You, Man That Got Away and Over the Rainbow, as well as Peggy Lee's Fever, were unbelievable. I really couldn't tell Jim Bailey's from the original. I look forward to more CD's and will go again to see him at the Wilde Goose. In person and on the CD he is an unbelievable performer.
Can't recomment.......2001-05-18
Poor sound quality. On one track, "All I Ask of You," he is out of synch with the backup music. This is one of those recordings I would return for a refund, if I could.
Oh, pardon me madam.......2000-01-28
When I first purchased this CD, I didn't really know who Jim Bailey was, but was I in for a surprise. I grew up listening to these talented ladied and I thought, "what have I bought?" But, then I realized, "this is a man, actually, a great artist." Well, call me a new Jim Bailey fan, because he just blows through the roof with his voice. His recreations of Judy, Barbra and Peggy Lee are second to none. Keep up the good work, Jim, and when you record that second CD, please, let me be the first in line to buy it.
