Product Description
1. Close your eyes and create your own island paradise. Listen to the rhythm of the surf as it caresses the shore. You can almost feel the warmth of the caribbean sun and in the distance the sound of native music makes ite presence known. 2. Gaze beyond the top of the mast and into the heavens. Time will seem endless - The ocean gently lapping against the hull speaks of life and immortality. 3. The ocean's endless roar creates a background for the breaking surf, first tearing apart, then caressing the sands of time.... The stress of modern living dissolves with the sound of the seashore.

In 1999, Exodus was rightfully voted by the most important album of the 20th century by Time magazine. This is the visionary Bob Marley's masterpiece, a concept album that distills the myriad experiences of both our daily lives and collective unconsciousness into 46 minutes of aural perfection.

Exodus has been flawlessly remastered from the original recordings and showcases what is probably the Wailers' tightest recorded performance. The initial notes of the album's opening track, "Natural Mystic," fade up from a deep silence, giving the listener the impression that the music generates from within a continuum of the past, present, and future. The first half of Exodus bears witness to Marley's shift in focus away from the mundane problems of Babylon existence and toward a greater understanding of vital universal truths. The second half features songs such as "Jamming" and "Waiting in Vain," which take a gently wistful look at the more interpersonal aspects of human relations. --Rebecca Levine

5 out of 5 stars Iconic! Simply unmissable!.......2007-06-07

I watched a TV documentary the other night about the making of this album and it was a spellbinding hour and a half. Apparently, Bob had to flee Jamaica for the UK after an assassination attempt and ended up living in London for a year. It was during this year that this phenomenal album was recorded. I've owned it for over 20 years now - first on cassette, then on vinyl and finally on CD - and I had no clue that this was so.

The album was released in 1977. It was the year of the Queen's Silver Jubilee but Britain was in a very bad place, the seeds of Thatcherism and the heartless 80s had already been sown and Punk ruled the airwaves. I lived a very sheltered life as a teenager and so it wasn't until 1979 when I went away to boarding school, that I finally get to hear the album in its entirety. It was a true revelation. I heard it on (what was then) a new invention my peers and I called a "hi-fi system" owned by an older student and I remember hearing the percussion on "Jamming" and being transfixed. No exaggeration; I was literally hypnotised.

The album is faultless with pristine production by Bob and The Wailers. From the minute the first strains of "Natural Mystic" fade in, through the accusatory "Guiltiness", on to the revolutionary title track, the slow jams "Waiting In Vain" & "Turn Your Lights Down Low", on to the optimitic "Three Little Birds" and right to the end of "One Love/People Get Ready", there is not a single note out of place. Each song, a potential hit single, (7 of the 10 songs on the original album were actually hits here in the UK) has a vibrant, totally relevant message - especially for a black teenager living in 70s UK, and Bob's primary ethos of peace & love have stayed with me ever since. That being said, this is the album that began to open my young eyes to the oppression and injustice that already surrounded me. The idea that music wasn't simply for entertainment or escapism but could inspire thought, behaviour and attitude change as well as activism, was new and very appealing.

And this was also the album that turned Bob from an international reggae star into a global prophet. Setting everything about Rastafarianism (respectfully) to one side, Bob the man and the music he made, the message he spread, have always educated and enthralled me in equal measure and always will. When I think about what are for me, consummately iconic, influential and superb recordings and I think about such albums as Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, John Coltane's A Love Supreme, Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life, Michael Jackson's Off the Wall, Pink Floyd's The Wall (Deluxe Packaging Digitally Remastered) and Radiohead's OK Computer, I also, immediately, think of Bob Marley's "Exodus". My life was definitely not the same after listening to it and now that I fully understand the story behind it, I hold the album in even higher esteem.

Whether this is Marley's best piece of work or not is, I guess, a matter of personal opinion and will always be open to debate. What is beyond doubt, is that it is my favourite Bob Marley album and I am proud and honoured to make this my 200th review on amazon.com. I'm a bit of a purist so I prefer the version I have which does not have the two extra tracks (though I have both on 12" single) but they are definitely worth having. As such, this is the version to get. There'll no doubt be a '30th anniversary edition' knocking around before too long as well.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent album!.......2007-05-30

I'm not really a reggae fan, but I love Stevie Wonder. I thus decided to give Bob Marley a chance. I must say this album can really get you hooked on this kind of music. Songs are witty, rhythmic and memorable. It is one of the best albums to jog along with. Bob Marley is definitely one of the more interesting artists of recent times.

5 out of 5 stars Bob Marley on TOP!!.......2007-03-27

I was living on the island of St. Thomas in 1977 when I first heard this recording. I was on a beautiful beach, drinking those powerful rum punch drinks. Someone played the first song, "Natural Mystic" and for me, it was like being transported to another time dimension. The musical cadence and beauty of the song just captured me. I was instantly hooked to Bob Marley's music. The entire album has a quality to it that has made it one of the true classics in music. Not one bad track on the entire set. Played with passion and love by one of the greats, the main "rude boy" himself, Robert "Bob" Marley.

5 out of 5 stars My First Marley Album and Arguably the Best One!.......2007-01-14

From personal experience, I can say that if you are trying to get into Bob Marley, start with this album! Let me start out with this: A lot of people(and I used to be one of them) say that all of Bob's songs sound the same. I have learned, from actually listening to his songs thoroughly, that that is an ignorant statement. Yes, the guitar does sound the same on 98% of the songs. But I have come to learn that the guitar in Reggae is just like the drums are in others genres of music; it keeps the beat. If it didn't sound like it does in every song, then it WOULDN'T be Reggae. The appreciation comes when you listen to how the song is built up around the guitar part; the horns, the keys/piano, and especially the BASS.
Now that I've said my part, I'll talk about the album. This is, from start to finish, an excellent album. If I were to be completely honest, it took a long time for it to grow on me. But once it did, it became my favorite Bob album. It is so emotional, and it contains my second favorite Bob song "Waiting in Vain." This album is also special because I believe that this was the first recording on which Marley knew he had cancer and was dying. To make music with this much passion and make your 5 best albums(Exodus-Confrontation) AFTER you know that you have cancer deserves a hell of a lot of admiration if you ask me. Anyway, don't take my word for it, buy this album. If you don't like this one, chances are you won't really like any other Bob Marley. But if you do like this, every recording after this one is also excellent. This is not to say that all the pre-Exodus albums aren't good, but they are very different than this one.
In short, if you are trying to get to know Bob Marley's music, you should:
1)Know how to appreciate Reggae music
2)Start with this album, and if you like it, then
3)Buy any/all albums AFTER this one (Kaya-Confrontation)
4)Then move on to the ealier albums

5 out of 5 stars One of Marley's best.......2006-11-20

You'll need this album, along with Burnin' it's Bob Marley's best. So Much Things to Say is a throwaway. The rest? Natural Mystic; the Heathen and Guiltiness are all good. But everything from the militant-yet-danceable title track on is pure gold. As I have mentioned, I love the title song; Jammin' is a classic, and possibly my favorite Bob Marley song; though Waiting in Vain, the perfect love song, gives it a run for its money. You don't hear much about the sexy slow jam Turn Your Down Lights Low, a damn shame since it alone is worth the price of the disc even if you have a greatest hits. And if you can resist smiling after hearing Three Little Birds and One Love/People Get Ready, you're obviously jaded, cynical and have lost all faith in humanity (I'm not QUITE there yet). It's too bad they didn't include Punky Reggae Party on the normal album, instead sticking it on as a bonus track, since it's arguably better than any songs on the normal album - no mean feat, let me add! Make sure to buy this ASAP.

ALL the songs are nice.

3 out of 5 stars Could be better.......2006-10-20

Although this CD has an interesting lineup of songs, I found the versions of the songs bland and uninspiring. The recording is thin sounding and lacks the rich full sound that makes the steel drums a wonderful instrument.

Amazon.com essential recording

When Bob Marley and the Wailers recorded their legendary 1975 London gig, little did they know of its lasting power. From the opening shuffles of "Trenchtown Rock" to the rabble-rousing "Get Up, Stand Up," this brief recording captured Marley's combo of critical invective and languid musical power. The rhythm team of Aston and Carlton Barrett make time-keeping splendidly melodic as Marley's gently scouring voice gets woven in with his backup vocalists in a mellowly dazzling display. On fire, the band jumps into the discovery of its power without regard to keeping the songs tidy or reflective of anything other than the moment of execution. No matter the years between its original release and the present, this recording will always breathe. Between Live! and the later, longer Babylon by Bus, Bob Marley showed categorical know-how in the art of executing state-of-the-art performances in the era of arena rock's supremacy. --Andrew Bartlett

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Definitely a great album to start your Bob Marley collection.......2007-07-16

Bob Marley was to reggae what Bob Dylan was to folk.
This album showcases the best of his talent, with the ghetto-sounds of Trenchtown Rock, the energetic Lively Up Yourself, the burning passion of No Woman, No Cry, the rollicking I Shot The Sheriff, and the defiant Get Up, Stand Up.
Definitely a great album to start your Bob Marley collection.

5 out of 5 stars The real deal.......2006-04-25

This live album from Bob Marley and his band The Wailers was my introduction to Bob Marley and reggae music in general. It promptly turned all preconceived ideas I had about reggae inside out. From that moment on, I was a believer. The first time I saw this album, I was thinking to myself, "Reggae, what's so special about that? It all sounds the same, anyway." How wrong I was!

First of all, the sound is spectacular. This performance sounds clean, fresh and lively; as if it were recorded yesterday. Every little thing can be heard clearly. Even so, it's not so clean that it becomes sterile and lacking in character. There's still the energy and authenticity that gives a concert something special.

Secondly, this album has all the classic songs to make it worthwhile as an introduction to Bob Marley's music and indeed reggae in general. Just check the track listing.

Also, the versions of the songs to be found here are fantastic and each musician is really impressive. Anyone who says that reggae is formulated, boring or predictable has yet to give this album a chance. This version of The Wailers has a real western/rock oriented approach to the music and it's really easy to hear why they have begun to appeal to a rock audience. Besides, the playing is fantastic and has plenty of feeling.

You shouldn't any more reasons to buy this album. It is just plain fantastic and made a staunch believer and convert out of me.

5 out of 5 stars YOU MAY ONLY NEED ONE BOB MARLEY CD IN YOUR COLLECTION.......2006-02-07

If that is the case, then let it be this one. Myself, I enjoy Bob Marley for what I see as therapeutic purposes. Chill control. That guy is the most chill guy that there ever was, mon. Don't be knocking. Only an A-hole would bring disrespect down. Personally, my collection has TWO Bob Marley Cd's. This one here and the earlier release CATCH A FIRE. I know I'm missing lots of hits and what not, but, man... dig this record. The hits mean nothing after this one. THIS IS THE GREATEST... its live, yeah, don't think twice about it. These are by far the most passionate versions of every one of the songs on here. This is the absolute best material he ever put out. NO WOMAN NO CRY... awesome, puts tears in my eyes...BURNIN AND LOOTIN... killer, studio version has nothing on this one... BELLY FULL.. way better than the studio... you get the picture so far? The album may not be as long as say LEGEND... but as a whole, this is quality, not quantity.. this album is just right.

4 out of 5 stars 4.5 Stars.... Marley's (commercial) breakout album.......2005-12-24

Bob Marley was making critical waves but not until the release of "Live" in 1975 did he also break through commercially.

"Live" (8 tracks, 45 min.) was re-released in 2001 with a remastered sound and one bonus track. The energy is bustling throughout, starting with the opener "Trenchtown Rock". The band is in top form throughout. This album of course includes the mega-hit "No Woman, No Cry", released as a single and enormously successful. But there are some other great jems, such as "Them Belly Full (But We Hungry)" and "Get Up, Stand Up". The bonus track, not found on the original (vinyl) album, is an equally outstanding "Kinky Reggae".

It is obvious that this is a milestone album in the Markey catalogue. But I still have to wonder why, to this day, the entire show of this legendary London July, 1975 concert hasn't been released. And in my book (which is of course a subjective feeling), the 1978 live album "Babylon By Bus" is even better.

5 out of 5 stars the Movement of Jah People...............2005-02-22

Exodus (the movement of JAH People) was time magazine's album of the century, that should say enough right there. But if you are not convinced buy it and you will be for sure. This album was released in 1977, and was recorded in London England. Bob Marley and members of the band survived an attempted assination in December of 1976, and went into self imposed exile in London. Here the creativity of the band is quite good, and many of the Songs that you know by Bob Marley and the Wailers appear on this disc. Jamming, Exodus, One Love, Three Little Birds, and Waiting In Vain. All the tracks are great on this disc and you can hear for the first time in all of the Wailers recordings that the quality of the recording equipment here is much better. The dummer's (Carlton Barrett) high hat never came through so clear. This album marks the intro of Junior Marvin (lead guitar)to the band. The band was about to gain superstar status and this album marks the beginning.
The second disc features some live tracks from the 1977 tour and the songs slected for the release happen to be from the 1977 Rainbow theater concerts, which will also be availble on dvd very soon. The live performances really come through and prove that the band has a tremendous vibe live and that while in concert they most certainly bring their best. the Lee Perry tracks are rather rare and are very nice to listen to. the booklet that comes with the cd can provide more insight into them and how they came to be, but just know that it is not the Wailers backing Bob on them, rather musicians from other bands. At the end is a Bob Marley promotion of the album for radio which is really nice to hear. If you are questioning yourself about this set or the single disc edition, this set offers a more diverse selection, and the bonus tracks and bonus disc are really a great addition tot he album of the century.

5 out of 5 stars includes the real 'long version' of Punky Reggae Party..........2005-02-05

This package, the 'deluxe' edition of the masterful 'Exodus' album by Marley and the Wailers, finally includes the complete nine minute and eighteen second, original version of the Lee Perry/Bob Marley collaboration 'Punky Reggae Party', recorded over two months in July/August 1977. (The single disc edition of 'Exodus' which includes 'Punky Reggae Party' says 'long version ' but it is not, lasting only six minutes before it is edited to a close, before Marley's chilling jazz scatting is complete) For this gem of collaborative genius this 'deluxe' package is worth the high price; just a bit of helpful info on this day, the 60th anniversary of Bob Marley's birth.

5 out of 5 stars Bob Marley & the Wailers At Their Very Best.......2004-11-29

The original version of this album was the album which sparked my obsession with Bob Marley & the Wailers in the Spring of 2002 and I now own all the albums and know nearly all there is to know about my fallen hero. This album is phenomonal boasting the most hits on a single album in his entire career. Each song is a song for the ages from "Natural Mystic" to "One Love/People Get Ready". This album promises to deliver everything both the hardcore and casual fan could want and more with each powerful, life-changing song.

The deluxe edition promises even more phenomonal work with rare classics like "Roots" and "Punky Reggae Party," as well as an unreleased version of "Keep On Moving," with several remixes and an excerpt from a concert to boot. If you purchase this album, I can guarentee you will not be disappointed. You'll find yourself listening to it time and time again.

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievable. Not just another pretty repackage........2004-10-01

Recently all my CDs were stolen, among them a massive collection of Marley CDs. I can now say I'm glad it happened because if it hadn't I wouldn't have begun to purchase the deluxe editions of Exodus, Catch A Fire, Rastaman Vibration, Legend, and Burnin. Exodus is the best of the deluxe editions. The sound quality, packaging, etc. are incredible. However, the best thing about the CD, which it seems the other reviewers thought so too, was the series of live songs that overlap on CD 2. It's how the Marley and the Wailer's music was meant to be heard. I loved how the songs overlapped into really one long number rather than different songs and how they exchanged words between songs. After becoming a little weary of BM and the Wailer's music because of listening to so many studio tracks I can say that I'm now back to listening to Marley everyday. CD 1 was really strong as well, especially Roots, which came through beautifully. It's great to see Island Records really putting in some effort to creating a NEW and improved release rather than just tracks in a different order and a pretty package.

5 out of 5 stars Deluxe is right!.......2004-04-08

This CD is incredible. The "Deluxe Edition" series seems to have hit the nail on the head. The sound is excellent, and the extra tracks actually add to the experience. This is one awesome CD.

I also recommend "Mississippi Muddy Waters Liver" Deluxe Edition.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Poor quality.......2007-01-08

The songs sound like poor quality live recordings. I am very disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Warning! Duplicate song!.......2005-04-30

I think Belafonte's music is great, really great. And this compilation is fine, but I wanted to warn to anyone considering buying this disc that -in a way I can only describe as absurd and unbelievable- it has the same song TWICE on this very album/CD. As you will note if you read the list of songs, number 2 is "Banana Boat Song", and number 11 is "Day O"; so we have his biggest hit duplicate (and it's the very same version, the original). That added to the fact that it has only 14 (well, 13) songs with a lot of space that could be filled, make me not recommend it even for beginners. Try another compilation to begin with, like All Time Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, or the 3CD box set Banana Boat Song. And it is essential The Concert at Carnegie Hall (the first one) but, again, NOT the american version but the import edition in a double disc set (which is complete and totally worthy).

4 out of 5 stars In My Quiet Room - Belafonte.......2004-09-29

Someone please put "In My Quit Room" by Belafonte on CD.

5 out of 5 stars Great.......2004-06-04

I have been looking for some of these songs forever. However one of my all time favorite Belefonte records is "Love Is a Gentle Thing" please, please please put this out in CD.
Scarlet Ribbons and Turn Around are just a taste of what is on that wonderful record.

5 out of 5 stars THIS IS GREAT - BUT WE AGREE WITH OTHER REVIEWER.......2001-01-04

My husband and I also have been trying to find what we think are among the 2 best Belafonte lps we have - "Love is a Gentle Thing" and "In My Quiet Room". There are so many albums of his with duplicate songs - we just wish his promoters would let us buy these special two. We still have 15+ of his lps with non-dupe pieces we would love to find in collections without getting ones with 95% songs we already have on them.

4 out of 5 stars MARLEY DUB.......2003-07-19

Marley tracks without Bob Marley singing, is what this CD is all about. If the listeners haven't been exposed to the dub sound it may not be for them. Overall, I enjoy the dub sound so it fits into the reggae that I listen to. Definitely cool out music to chill to. But nothing compares to singing and messages of Bob.

5 out of 5 stars let freedome ring.......2003-06-26

i really only respect a tribute if it has roots and i think that this one has roots. Chriss balckwell (bobs original producer and the owner of island records) and bill laswell were in kingston and chriss mentioned helping him to work on a marley translation project. and laswell not knowing bob personally he in true dub style which any one in dub mentallity would have done decided to take some of his most favorite songs and not just give you another bob compillation for you to breath new life into a soul not just glorify over and over again. what do you think dub is its just regge classics rut up retranslated reverbed delayed.. new life. imagine a phychadelic spirtual ambient dream relaxing listening to your regular marley it might turn into it naturally try it. only features marley in maybe 3 songs sparcelly and the original backround singers. all new mixes new instuments never heard before im marley tablas, new keyboards, cut ups, dense delays, dub

5 out of 5 stars I'm late to the party..........2001-12-17

I remember ignoring this album when it was originally released because the thought of an ambient Marley record sounded lame. What a terrible mistake on my part! This CD just flattened me! There's a lot more going on than just a typical dub remix so some purists may not dig it, but if you appreciate ambient and good dub this is all you. I can't believe how well these songs work in this context (with the possible exception of No Woman No Cry; it's good but not great.) This is a sweet record to chill out to or to put on when you want the mood laid back. It sounds cool in the headphones but in a good system with big bass it really opens up. Bass players take heed: Aston "Family Man" Barrett will take you to school and in this dubbed out mix he's never been more up front. Listen and learn.
I was concerned that this was just an excuse to use the Marley name but it was obviously done with the love and respect that the music and Marley's spirituality deserves. Praise to Bill Laswell for doing it right. Wish I'd caught on sooner, but better late than never.

1 out of 5 stars Please just stick to the roots of reggae.......2001-12-17

I love Marley as much as the next Rasta, but please oh please, only listen if you are truly a fan of whale sounds and bird sounds to fall asleep to. This is an ambient translation alright. I think Bob would have loved to see this NOT happen. I am a true roots fan and my tastes go far beyond just Bob, but I do know when I am hearing something that doesn't belong on the shelf mixed with reggae. I wish people would just leave Bob's music alone. It's like adding Slayer's guitar work over the top of John Tesh's greatest hits and calling it Dreams of Carnage: A Satanic Translation of a dork's fairy music. Something like that. Well whatever...buy this if you want...don't go around saying that I didn't warn you!

5 out of 5 stars outstanding mix of dub and ambient.......2001-11-03

Gets your groove on or lulls you to dreamland, depending on your mood. A rare gem. Expect quite a bit of tampering and ambient sounds and big dubby drum and bass licks from the original masters. NO BEAT BOX HERE. High praise to Laswell for that restraint. It's wonderful to hear the bass and drums from these big talents up front and isolated. The only track that is average is No Woman No Cry. Hard to say why, just not the best song for dub treatment.

4 out of 5 stars Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19

Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.

My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.

5 out of 5 stars The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12

Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.

Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.

And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.

Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.

This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.

Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.

So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

These guys are awesome in their endeavors to create harmony, melody, and rhythm with steel drums and other percussions. I wasn't disappointed in the various traditional as well as comptemporay songs that are being played on this cd. I would highly recommend this cd for steel drum lovers, lovers of percussion music and those who enjoy instrumental or caribbean jazz.

5 out of 5 stars Great Classic Party CD.......2005-08-02

Saw these guys playing at a mall in Marin around 1990. Bought their CD at that time...the one I'm reviewing here. It is simply great. Its been played over and over on countless vacations and parties. Today, 8/1/05, I'm playing it at the office and all are loving it. Buy this!

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Escape to the Caribbean without ever leaving home!.......2002-07-21

Brannan Lane has packed the entire Caribbean onto one small disc. From the bright,
bouncy opening track, "Welcome," to the sign off "Until Then," this CD will transport you
to an island getaway. What stands out about this project is the multitude of unique sounds
and instruments, from steel drums and pan flute to tropical birds, rain,
and waterfalls. Brannan creatively combines these sounds and instruments, enhancing a
varied selection of simple, pleasing melodies. Are you stressed out? Let the lilting rhythm
of the "Caribbean Sea" wash away those tension lines. Do you need a pick-me-up? The
percussive bonanza featured in "Fire Dance" will get you going on a positive note! Do you
need music to dream by? "Stars to the Sea" will take you to the ocean at night, as the
constellations pour themselves into the horizon. Have you visited the Caribbean before?
"Market Sq" will let you return, right back to the middle of a busy intersection with an
open market! I recommend putting this CD on "repeat play." Then try to avoid calling
    your travel agent! --Jeff Bjorck

5 out of 5 stars Refreshing and imaginative, this CD is a winner!.......1999-07-11

Brannan Lane's debut, CARIBBEAN DREAM, is a refreshing dose of fun and good cheer in a usually somber and dour musical genre. Using a vast array of electronic keyboards, Brannan has fashioned a sonic voyage to a tropical island, complete with steel drums and pan pipes. The music is relaxing even while it makes you want to get up and dance (which it does on some songs). The mood is bright, sunny, and full of life. In addition, the recording is very well-produced and performed. CARIBBEAN DREAM can stand toe-to-toe with many releases from major labels, and usually come out ahead. For sheer musical bravado and creativity, Brannan Lane has few equals this year. If you are looking for a good time, grab your checkbook or credit card and order this CD. You won't be disappointed!

4 out of 5 stars Fun in the Sun !.......1999-06-22

Brannan Lane has created a wonderful, relaxing, CD. Amazing memories of the Barbados flood my mind whenever this CD is spinning. Sitting back, closing my eyes - I can picture the white sandy beach with the swaying palm trees - remembering all the "fun in the sun".

This CD is professionally done and captures your imagination of the Islands. It will bring back Caribbean memories and touch your soul if you have been to the islands - or it will create visions for you, if you haven't. But all in all - this CD gives you the Island feeling all around - and watch your feet - you will feel it tapping :)

Heather Baskey, Mississauga, Ontario - Canada

    5 out of 5 stars WOW! What a CD!.......1999-06-08

Brannan has become one of my favorite artists. Caribbean Dream is such an uplifting experience, and makes me smile. I love all the detailed and intricate sounds, and am amazed how it all comes together into a wonderful compilation. It is hard to pick a favorite track, but here are some of my favorites: Market Sq., St. Tom Tom, Caribbean Sea, Rasta Pasta, Rain Forest, Distant Past, okay.....all of them! As you can tell I really like this CD! I think this is Brannan's only one, and I am anxious for another one to be released. Brad Chambers
