Editorial Reviews
Too much might never be enough for fans of Latin pop superstar Luis Miguel's swooning balladry. For discerning listeners, however, Amarte Es Un Placer is the same old song and dance. The album balances swooning ballads with up-tempo numbers, much like Miguel's previous Nada Es Igual and Aries. Admittedly, Miguel displays a wonderfully expressive voice, particularly on "Tu Mirada," "Soy Yo," and "O Tú o Ninguna," but other problems surface. Up-tempo numbers such as "Sol, Arena y Mar," "Quiero," and "Dímelo en un Beso" feature tepid arrangements akin to background music for a Miami Vice episode, and Miguel doesn't inject any real rhythm into the songs. The sole exception is "Te Propongo Esta Noche," which breaks into a pulsing club beat. Miguel would be wise to follow that same path next time around. --Joey Guerra

Excellente!.......2006-10-15
Features the top session vocalists and sessions players from Los Angeles and it won several Grammies. BUY IT!! If you love very much a U.S. R&B /MOR sound.
No. Luis Miguel is not a new name to me.......2004-06-23
North-American commercial sound - in Spanish.......2003-12-02
--according to the list at the back of the book - when the main sound that comes out behind the singer - is drums and more drums.
First- there are no latin rhythms anywhere--only 7 very slow songs that use over 90 strings behind all those drums--and 5 fast pieces that use a brass section and chorus as well as LM's own rhythm section.
The quality of the arrangements leaves much to be desired. The players list notes 11 woodwinds and eight horns. All that can be heard is an occasional oboe and a distant horn.
An orchestra of these proportions should be playing Wagner. In the case of this production, it would have been better to put these simple arrangements on a synthesizer and free up all those expensive resources to do something useful that would give them some satisfaction in their work.
LM can do anything he wants, and get the backing for it. Next time, the producers should think about some quality.
GENIOUSLY COMPOSED POP MUSIC OF OUR TIME!!!!!!!!.......2003-11-20
Another Great Release from Luis Miguel.......2003-07-07

Manufacturer: WEA Records ProductGroup: Music Binding: Audio CD ASIN: B0007OC0AW |
Product Description
Personnel: Luis Miguel (vocals); Ramon Stagnaro (acoustic guitar); Todd Robinson (electric guitar); Michael Landau, Paul Jackson, Jr. (guitar); Jeff Nathanson (saxophone); Robbie Buchanan, Randy Kerber (electric piano); Francisco Loyd (synthesizer); Lalo Carrillo, Nathan East (bass); Victor Loyd, John Robinson (drums); Tom Aros (percussion); Natisse Jones, Carlos Murguia (background vocals). Recorded at Record Plant, Ocean Way, Conway Studios, Hollywood, California. 33 was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. On 33, Latin superstar Luis Miguel sticks to his guns, belting out more light pop tunes on this all-Spanish-language outing. "Un Te Amo" starts things off on a breezy yet emotive note, while "Con Tus Besos" revisits energetic 1970s-style horn-laden pop. This slightly funky style is also present on songs such as "Eres," "Y Sigo," and "Vuelve," conjuring up images of a Spanish SOLID GOLD-like variety show. Of course, no Miguel album would be complete without a few ballads, and he delivers on tracks such as "Nos Hizo Falta Tiempo," "Ahora Que Te Vas," and the album-closing "Que Hacer." One of the most anticipated releases of the year from Warner Music Latina for the three Grammy winner. 11tracks. 2003.
