Solid bottom rhythms, gripping songs, and weaving accordions combine to make this CD David Lee Garza's best work. The album is also a genre benchmark for its flawless execution and for music that has both tension and drama. High points are many, but clearly unforgettable moments are delivered on the tempo-changing (a rarity in Tejano) "Poquito a Poco," the winsome polka "Mujer Liberada," and the entrancing "Amor de Madrugada." Singer Jay Perez utilizes the full-bodied, throaty delivery needed to convey a credible tough-but-tender macho stance. The zenith, though, comes on the instant classic "Que Trizteza," for its galloping cumbia rhythms and its mix of whip-sharp horns and accordion hooks. The magic comes through the experienced rhythm section of brothers Adam Garza on drums and Richard Garza on bass. Oscar Montemayor provides snappy intros on saxophone, but ultimately, it's Perez's doleful vocals that elevate the tune into anthem status. --Ramiro Burr

MENSAJE A LA VIDA.......2003-04-16

Mi nombre es Victor Vera, tengo 35 años y me encuentro en Lima, Peru y este mensaje es para recomendarles este CD porque se reunen en 10 canciones los sentimientos mas profundos y verdaderos del ser humano. Tengo la suerte de seguir a este gran ser humano y poeta desde hace mas de 10 años y por mucho tiempo busque este CD y realmente la espera valio la pena, porque al escuchar las letras y melodias de cada cancion, se puede entender lo hermosa que es la vida a pesar de lo dificil que pudiera parecer en algun momento y solo los que estamos enamorados podemos entender que el amor es importante, porque sin el nada tiene valor y Perales lo grafica de una manera notable en "No Resulta Facil" y "Tan solo necesito", ademas de demostrar un gran amor a los niños en "Que Canten los Niños" y sentir gran orgullo por su pais en "Recuerdo un Tren", y sin duda el duo con Mocedades resulta en un increible exito. He tenido la suerte de verlo dos veces en Lima y senti gran emocion de sentir cada cancion como parte de mi vida. Espero que puedan disfrutar de todo el sentimiento que existe en este disco. Desde Lima un gran saludo y no olvidemos que la vida esta llena de esperanza y Perales nos lo recuerda en estas canciones.

This album touches every possible emotion; from the father teaching his son about growing up (Yo tambien tuve 15 años), to the pain of dealing with a lost love (No resulta facil), to the childhood memories of traveling through his native Spain (Recuerdo un tren - which can transport any of us back to our fondest childhood memories regardless of where you are from). Perales is a skilled poet, a consummate musician, that with the simplicity of his guitar and voice, elicits feelings you didn't even know you had.
