When Los Palominos burst on the Tejano scene in the early '90s, they created a stir with their neotraditional approach to conjunto music. A strong trading card was their incredible vocal harmonies, which, at their best, recalled the legendary Conjunto Bernal. On this latest collection of boleros, cumbias, and polkas, Los Palominos again deliver familiar tales of love found, lost, and rediscovered in such magnetic tunes as "Quiero Saber" and "Te Prometo." But, as in their previous works, the material suffers a little from sameness. Lead singer-accordionist Johnny Arreola, however, projects a distinctive enough tenor to keep things interesting. The other members of the Uvalde, Texas-based outfit are his three brothers: James, bajo sexto/vocals; Jesse, drums; and George, bass. --Ramiro Burr
