Sigo Siendo Yo (Still Being Me) is not only the title of Marc Anthony's new hits collection, it's also a reaffirmation of his status as one of Spanish-language music's preeminent voices. The stirring set is balanced with sweeping ballads ("Ahora Quien," "Se Esfuma Tu Amor") and Anthony's true forte--scorching salsa numbers ("Valio La Pena," Tu Amor Me Hace Bien"). Still, everything is vividly enhanced by Anthony's astonshing vocal range. The disc's two new songs are a toss up: "Lo Que No Di" is overblown, overwrought and ponderous. In other words, a likely theme song for some future telenovela. First single "Que Precio Tiene El Cielo" is much better, highlighted by a sweet, slowly building salsa rhythm. Some hits--"Dimelo," "Muy Dentro De Mi"--are equally familiar in their English-language versions but benefit from richer performances en espanol--usually the case with Anthony's material. A very good CD! Celos, Tu Amor Me Hace Bien and Que Precio Tiene El Cielo which is burning on the Radio in Boston is awesome, great musical Salsa arrangements on these songs...very intoxicating!

Lamento Jibaro...is a great sad Puerto Rican story with a nice old style musical arrangement which takes you back to the Island for those whom can relate and undertand the story behind the lyrics to this song.

A great CD for New Marc fans to endulge in his Spanish Music for starters.

I purchased this cd for my mother who is a HUGE Marc Anthony fan. This cd was okay but I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase another one. I was expecting so much more (new songs, etc.) from Marc. There were too many ballads and not enough salsa. He's had much better in the past.

This is a perfect CD to have Shakira's hits collection.. i have been a huge fans of shakira since oral fixations era, so i started to seek her previous hits and I got this album and it is really gerat all songs are gerat.. but I prefer you to get the Live&Off the Record which is her live version of hits collection (she sang more beautiful there) but if u dont want the live version, this is a perfect CD for you. Go get this CD now, especially if you are a Shakira fans .

It is amazing that a girl so young (29) and from a small costal city (Barranquilla) could have so many "exitos" in poco tiempo. As the title suggests, you will not get any English language hits and that is ok. Shakira's pre-Laundry Service music was far superior anyway (aunque Whenever is on this disc en espanol). My only qualm is that the live version of Donde Estan Los Ladrones is presented only. I like the studio version a great deal.

For those of you unfamiliar with Juan Luis Guerra's music, this is a great opportunity for you to hear this wonderful man! He is considered one of the most beloved singers/songwriters/poets of the Dominican Republic. We are so lucky that he put his poems to song. Not only is he the king of el merengue (a popular dance music from the Dominican Republic). but he also showcases his abilities as a singer and musician in bachata (a slower, more sensual dance music), and ballads. He fuses traditional Afro/Latin rhythms with jazz and pop. Some great examples of this sound include "Frio Frio" (ballad), "Como Abeja Al Panal" (a combination of salsa/bachata/ballad), and "Rosalia" (just a great, energetic song!).

Please listen to this music. He is a legend, and is still very popular today, as a contemporary singer of merengue (with a large Christian flavor to his lyrics). Totally worth it! You will not be disappointed.

My wife is a fan of Luis Miguel. When I saw this 2 CD set I had to get it for her as a surprise. The one surprised was me. I think Luis Miguel is one of the very best male vocalists alive today. His sheer power and mastery of music is outstanding. His CDs sound like his concerts. He belts it out with all he has when he sings live.

I recommend this CD for guys to buy for their wives and girlfriends. It will really go a long way as a gift. If you saw the Luis Miguel concert, it will bring back a really enjoyable concert experience.

I already own all the Romances CD's so I was a bit skeptical about buying Luis Miguel's Greatest Hits CD because many of the songs I already have. However, after thinking about it for a couple of weeks I went ahead and bought it anyway because the track list looked great. I have to say that I am beyond impressed with the quality of this CD. The old songs must have been re-mastered because they all sound amazing, the production is impeccable and the choice of songs couldn't be any better. It has quickly become my favorite CD and I've been listening to it over and over again.

If you like Luis Miguel this CD is a MUST and if you are looking to buy one of his records for the first time, this is certainly the one to get, satisfaction guaranteed!

I love these CD's, the first two have all Alejandro's greatest hits from the 80's and 90's, while the third one includes some of his popular live performances. If you are an Alejandro's fan you won't be disappointed.

A MUST BUY!!.......2007-02-02

This is the first ever Spanish language album I bought. The only time I saw him was on MTV singing 'No Es Lo Mismo' and later the video with Shakira. I love his voice so much that I was willing to risk buying this album. It was the best buying decision I've made. I love all the tracks on cd1,2. Tracks on cd3 are good too but would have love 'em better if he had sang all the songs by himself. All the other singers sounded so unimpressive singing beside him. His voice is just so so very sexy even though I don't have a clue what he's saying(btw, I live where exposure to the spanish language is almost nil). His singing style too is different than what I've heard before. LOVE THE CDs, LOVE ALEJANDRO!!! Planning to get his Unplugged album too.

I remember the first time I heard of Alejandro Sanz...It was the Summer of 1998 and I was listening to "Si Fuera Ella" from a Spanish Ballads Radio Station in Barranquilla, Colombia. From that moment on, I was HOOKED! I would compare him to Pablo Neruda of the 21st Century. I have listened to his soul-drenching words that "[...]me peina el alma y me la enreda[...]" His "Grandes Exitos 91_04" album is the culmination of his best hits, from his debut album with Warners Brothers "Viviendo Deprisa" to his lastest "No es lo mismo." If I were to describe DISC 3, I would say that it is like an Invitation to his Personal Space, where one can grasp his Unedited Musical Talent in "Corazon Partido" to a Sevillana-vibe with Ketama in "Vida es un Espejo." If you have a magnifying glass at hand, take a peek and read the personal comments that his friends and Sanz wrote!

A Rare Treat.......2005-09-06

Browsing for some new music a few years back I saw Alejandro Sanz' El Alma Al Aire album sitting on the shelf and was so taken with the cover art that I purchased it without having a clue who he was. Boy was I in for surprise. I'd never heard anybody sing like that before - the music was so rich and sophisticated, his voice so raw and passionate, that I had to put everything I was doing aside and just listen.

A few months later after listening to nothing but Alejandro and buying up every album of his I could find, I went to see him live at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. His live performance was every bit as exciting and as skillfully produced as his recordings and it was amazing to be a part of such a wildly enthusiastic crowd that knew every single word of every one of his songs and were often on their feet singing along.

Alejandro Sanz is an extraordinary singer/songwriter, a world apart from the crowd but still very accessible, even for someone like me who speaks little Spanish. His seamless fusion of pop, jazz and latin with his heritage of Flamenco and Gitano stylings, gives Alejandro's music a uniqueness that many have attempted but few accomplished so well.

The argument over whether Flamenco should be left alone is pretty much resolved I think, with artists like Alejandro Sanz and Ojos de Brujo who pay such great homage to it in their music.

Alejandro's latest release, the 3 disc Grandes Exitos 91_04 is a wonderful collection of some of his best music, with new and rare recordings to richen the feast. His duets on the 3rd disc are a treat. In particular, his recording of Cai with Nina Pastori is stirring and evocative and a great example of how beautifully Flamenco stylings can work in a contemporary setting when they're in the hands of the right musicians and singers.

Alejandro Sanz is a gem and his music a rare pleasure. But when all is said and done, it's that voice and the raw passion driving it that gives him so much of an edge over his contemporaries. His music holds up over the years and with countless repeated listenings because Alejandro is at his core, a gifted musician and he knows how to deliver the goods.

Grandes Exitos 91_04 will undoubtedly end up in every Sanz fan's collection but for somebody who isn't yet familiar with Alejandro's music, this is a perfect place to start.

More than a musician, this man is a poet!.......2005-09-03

Alejandro Sanz is one of the most talented artists I have known. He can bring to life his feelings in each one of his songs, and he can make them feel like a part of your own history. He has passion for life, for love, for people, and he shows this not only in his music, but also in his wonderful live perfomances. This album is perfect because you can enjoy his evolution as a musician and appreciate that special way he has to reinvent himself to be better every day - a live proof of this is are the three versions of the song "Como te Echo de menos" (only the original version is available in this record) It is really amazing how he managed to give the same message, to transmit the same feeling, changing the lyrics of this song (listen to the unplugged version in his Basico record, and then listen the MTV Unplugged version after you have enjoyed this original version... then you will understand).
The most beautiful suprise of this album was disc #3, titled "Rarezas", you will appretiate the essence of his creation of music, and also, you will find a familiar song hidden in two songs. His duet with The Corrs that is recorded in this album is simply excelent! (if you are familiar with his music, you will recognize the original song that serves as the base of this song)

My comment, Alejandro is an artist, an unbelievable artist, and this album is a living proof of this. Enjoy!!

?ste ?lbum de Mecano llamado "Grandes ?xitos" consta de dos CD, pero hay otra edici?n (que aparentemente Amazon.com no tiene todav?a a la venta) que trae adem?s un DVD y por lo tanto es mucho m?s interesante.
Los dos CD re?nen algunas de las canciones m?s recordadas de la banda. Los temas son todas versiones en estudio, est?n ordenados cronol?gicamente y poseen un sonido perfecto, que se nota a?n m?s en las canciones m?s viejas como "Maquillaje", "Me col? en una fiesta" o "Barco a Venus" que suenan estupendas. No existen "rarezas" ni versiones en vivo.
El DVD re?ne una serie de videoclips y resulta muy emotivo ver y escuchar a Mecano y seguir su evoluci?n tanto musical como f?sica desde los comienzos de su carrera hasta sus ?ltimas creaciones. La imagen es aceptable, pero lo que es imperdonable es la mala calidad del sonido; no se aplic? ninguna tecnolog?a para mejorar el sonido original de los videos. Es una pena.
Conclusi?n: es un ?lbum altamente recomendable, en particular la edici?n que posee el DVD con los videos, algunos in?ditos en el ?mbito comercial. Quiz?s lo ideal hubiera sido editar por separado los CD del DVD con los videos ya que para quienes han seguido la carrera de la banda y poseen todos sus discos (como es mi caso y el de tantos otros) no se aporta nada nuevo en la parte musical y se debe hacer frente al doble gasto de los CD m?s el DVD.

This is a good Cd if you love Chayanne's songs and don't have all his cd's. All the songs are beautiful as he is. I enjoy listening to it over and over again.

I've been a die hard fan of this man since he was in one of the original boy bands, Los Chicos. I have seen him change from the nice clean cut guy he was until the MAN he is today. As a huge fan and I am and always been, this record is a grea way for you to learn and enjoy him the same way I do every day. El Dicho dice, "Nadie es Profeta en su Tierra" but I really beg to differ.

Great song "Y tu te vas" best of all, SO HOT!!!! You can feel it deep in your veins, especially if you know Spanish as a native speaker. Se siente muy adentro hasta la fibra interior y hace vibrar las venas. "Quisiera" is also great song. Ricky doesn't come close. In fact, his not the best Puerto Rico offers, he's just good looking (or, should I say gringo looking?).

Chayanne is not a great vocalist. Like Ricky Martin, he is really a nice, good-looking, entertaining showman. Likewise, Chayanne's recordings have been well produced, although some of the 1980s beats (especially Fiesta en America) havent aged that well (unless youre still into that). Overall its fairly standard Latin pop with good production values. The lyrics are generally corny and silly when you think about them (you might as well not), but at least the choruses are catchy, especially on the dance beats. Unless you are or become a die-hard fan, this CD is your best Chayanne sampler. It covers most of the hits and spares you of the rest.

I'm not sure if my pulse is up because of the terrific songs and style or the gorgeous photos of Chayanne in the CD package. I don't speak Spanish but I don't think it is necessary. He has a very soothing voice, not terribly strong but he definitely handles ballads, salsa and uptempo numbers with ease. I don't know why he has not crossed over with more popularity, like Ricky Martin or Marc Anthony because he deserves it. If you saw the movie DANCE WITH ME-you know he is multi-talented beyond his striking looks.

Ana gabriel is my favorite latin singer ive been a ana gabriel fan since 1995. When first heard her classic ranchera hit.( es demaciado tarde) that song call still bring me chills, this collection contains it all. Hit's like (LUNA,QUIEN COMO TU,and one of her biggest pop ballads ever (SIMPLEMENTE AMIGOS) simply friends.she wrote for a gay friends, its true powerful lyrics sais how unexcepting sociaty really is.In concert Ana Gabriel delivers triple times to her audience than what you get on a cd, She sounds 3x better is person, She laughs, dances swiftly to the beasts and cries to the feeling on the song. Through the years , nobody has released as many great songs as Mexico's Ana Gabriel. Her raspy voice and profound and abismal lyrics are an enigma that is a pleasure to try to understand. This compilation is just an example of 30 points of view of this enigmatic woman. Every single track is sung as if it would be her last. from "Mar Y Arena" to the amazing "No Te Hago Falta" , she delivers with all her devotion to her ever demanding master , her music. This is a must for anyone who has ever felt frustration, sadness, grief and the bliss that follows. a true artist like Ana is hard to find. One of the things I find interesting is the fact that she decided to omit all her ranchera tracks from this compilation. Could it be because she feels her passion lies not in that style? Even so , this is a crucial compilation , and does good at choosing her best tracks.

Not your typical Spanish music.......2004-08-03

When I asked most Spaniards what they listened to, they would begin to rant off a fairly long list of American or Brittish groups. Anything but something native Spanish. When I asked them what Spanish groups they liked, I got mostly, "We are known for Flamenco music." One name that did get thrown around a few times though was Jarabe de Palo. He became famous in 1999 with his first hit, "La Flaca," a bluesy / latin lament about a guy wanting a kiss from a sexy, skinny bar girl. Jarabe turns his back on the pop formulas that have made his fellow compatriots like Enrique Iglesias or David Bisbal popular and instead does what few do today: be a musician. His guitar playing rocks you into a warm little world when he wants to be sweet, and into a latin smoke-filled tasca when he wants to spice things up a bit. Jarabe has some Cuban influences in his tunes and even teams up with Celia Cruz in the last song, "A lo loco." Ballads like "Depende" and "Agua" are simple, yet rich in harmony and guitar melodies. He likes to throw his listener into a mix that is anything but "puro" because in the so called "pure" there is no "future" (En lo puro no hay futuro). This is a CD to play after or before some James Taylor to get the heartbeat going. If you want a little taste of Jarabe, watch his video "Bonito" on AOL radio, one that Alanis Morisette liked so much, she copied for a song on her latest album. Quality songwriting, from the heart, and not from the Pop-tune machine.
