Customer Reviews:
Most Excellent.......2006-07-16
Cure fan who sometimes tries to speak Spanish badly. Got this album on a whim from a used CD store.
IT WAS MOST EXCELLENT, and I have been well pleased. I've had this for years and it still makes me happy. I agree with all the reviewers who comment that the bands changed the songs, made them their own, but still paid homage in a delicious manner. Some of the songs are better than others, but listen to Just like Heaven...it is really, really good.
Excelente.......2005-07-29
This album is one of the greatest tributes ever done. While many tribrute albums go on to reinvent the song risking fame or one hit wonder, or you're left scratching your head of whether you want to buy the albume simply because it has one or 2 great songs on it, this CD will not leave any doubts. Sung in spanish and modernized it will leave you stunned. 5 stars, get this album because it's been discontinued!!
worthwhile.......2003-11-29
Diverse, highly flavored versions of classic songs.
Robert Smith's rich, multi-textured music has always lent itself to other interpretations, and this compilation does it justice.
THIS IS GREAT SCHTUFF!!!.......2003-01-04
I have no idea how I came accross this disc, but the moment I did, I knew I had to own it. There was something about the whole concept of Latin bands covering The Cure that appealed to my sense of adventure. I was rewarded with an even better album than I could have imagined. I think this has got to be the best tribute album ever done. Most tribute colections have absolutely no imagination whatsoever. This beauty tops them all! From the potential hilarity of freaking people out when they realize what they're hearing to the delight of thinking that some of these just songs might just be better that the originals. But don't take that one comment wrong, this is no 'joke' album. Yes it definitely tickles the heck out of my funny bone as it has for most I've played it for, it's a serious look at a whole new interpretation of the music of The Cure and a 'tribute' to the high quality of the songs they wrote.
cure en espanol! estoy en amor!!!.......2002-11-26
OK, so I admit, I know no Spanish beyond the standard 8th grade "Hola, que tal?" but that in no way inhibits me from enjoying this CD! Some of my favourite Cure songs are performed by some great Latin American artists, with music so beautiful and varried, it doesn't matter that I don't understand all of the lyrics! "Apart" (Seperado) sounds especially great, with haunting female Spanish lyrics... if you thought Robert's voice sounded good, give it a listen in a romance-language. Great for any Cure fan, especially (duh) those from a Spanish-language background.
