Smooth vocals, original material, and exceptional talent combine to produce this interesting 13-track sophomore effort by Costumbre. Winning tunes by this Zapata, Texas-based outfit include "Quiero Decirte," a lovely mid-tempo polka fueled by singer Manuel Edgar Lujan's aching vocals, and "Eternamente," a suave ballad whose sophisticated lyrics put a new spin on the familiar better-to-have-loved-and-lost-than-never-loved-at-all sentiment. Like their debut CD, Dejame Ser was produced by Carlos Cabral Jr., who helps polish the group's sonic signature. At times, however, their youth is a hindrance: though their folk-rock-norteño fusion shows lots of promise, their potential is sometimes not fully realized, and many tunes sound alike. Top Ten Norteno Album.......2002-03-12

Dejame Ser is a great norteno album. La Costumbre has a unique, refreshing style. Anyone who buys this album will be completely satisfied. Every single song is amazing. Eternamente is a beautiful, and deep slow jam. Y ya despues has a dope norteno beat. I can never get tired of hearing this album. They're debut album is also mind-blowing. In a nutshell... go buy both of their albums....you won't regret it. Peace!!!

I love La Costumre. Since I live in roma, texas. I don't know how many preformances Costumbre has done here. I'm pleased that Costumbre has played in my town and that I have gotten the chance to meet them. Their hometown is a few minutes away so there always here and there. I'll i have to say is that costumbre has the greatest tejano music. Their songs are sooo great to dance too. Costumbre definitely deserves more than 5 stars!

I just have to say that Costumbre is the best band that i know of. They are better than all thost pop groups because what they sing is real. They write their own music and play their own instruments! I just can't get any better than that!

La Costumbre delivers one of the most complete norteno albums of the year with "Dejame Ser." While most CDs amount to a smattering of singles surrounded by filler, La Costumbre has put together a work that flows smoothly from beginning to end. The subtle, intimate vocals and playing show the group is in touch with norteno's rural roots and make it clear that the band is more interested in musical synergy than noisemaking. The lyrics are also a cut above the norm, focusing on typical themes of romance but avoiding mindless repetition. With little touches like the unexpected change of key and melody at the end of "Un Minuto de Silencio" the band gives that extra push that's the hallmark of a top-notch release.

The group borrowed a page from La Firma's playbook by re-recording two ballads in adult contemporary style, adding keyboards and jazzy chord changes. These could have worked but just missed the mark, because the accordion sounds out of place and the drumming is a little too mechanical.

Very Nice.......2002-03-29

This CD single is for the Bocelli fanatic (or collector) Like me, for the regular Bocelli fan just get the CD Cieli Di Toscana. The CD single has 3 versions of the song L'Abitudine (Italian, Spanish and English) plus an enhanced Video of it for your computer. In he Spanish and English versions Helena sings her lead parts in Spanish and English while Bocelli Sings in Italian, The chorus' are sang in Italian. Its a very good song and wonderfully sang but Both Andrea Bocelli and Helena. And all three versions are great. The Video is very cute (its the same Video for L'Abitudine that is included with the DVD Cieli Di Toscana, which is a MUST HAVE.

Costumbre delivers yet another great album with this release! Blowing up onto the Tejano/Norteno scene 4 years ago with "El Dolor", Costumbre has become a mainstay in a genre that brings in artists in & out like an ocean's wave. The album is packed with catchy cumbias, dramatic rancheras, & a couple ballads. The first single, "Como Olvidarte" is quickly climbing charts everywhere. The chemistry is completely there when it comes to Costumbre! The production on this album is flawless. The songs spark up a nostalgic feeling and grab a hold of you with each & every accordion riff. Warner-WEA did an excellent job with Costumbre. Some other hits on the album to look out for are; Vuelve A Vivir, Esperare, Mi Mundo Perfecto, & Sin Despedidas. I highly recommended this album!!
