If you like salsa this is a must have CD.......2001-08-16

In my opinion Fruko y sus tesos is the best salsa group ever.In the past they were on colombia's top charts. They have salsa'a greatest classics such as El preso wich is a nice song telling you about the feeling to be locked in a cell with no contact with other people,and a great song to dance to.And El patillero a great song about a watermelon seller. If you like Fruko y sus tesos I suggest you checkout Joe arroyo and groupo niche they also are big one's in colombia.

Great Sample of Colombian Salsa.......2000-07-12

Fruco y sus Tesos were on the best Colombian salsa recording groups back in the 70's. Their music filled every household and was loudly played at every party. (If you like this CD, you should check out any of Joe Arroyo's recordings - the group's main vocalist). This CD is full of vibrant music. It includes the group's best recordings: El Prisionero (a sad but well done song), El Patillero (a funny story about a street vendor), and El Cocinero Mayor (it will make you hungry!). Actually, every song in this CD sounds fantastic! If you grew up in Colombia, this CD will bring back your younger years. If you did not grow up in Colombia, this CD will make you dance even if you didn't think you couldn't dance!. Fruco y sus Tesos is a MUST have in any CD library.

Tropical Music Lover's Dream.......2000-05-13

If you've never heard of Julio Ernesto Estrada Rincon, aka "Fruko," you have missed out on one of Columbia's masters. A musician, bandleader, composer and arranger he has helped shape the careers of many Latino international stars including "Sonora Dinamita". This guy is a legend and rightfully so. His music is about Columbia and the wonderful dance music that is played there, including Mambo, Pachanga and Salsa. This is happy music that takes twists and turns weaving tales of lovers' deceits and the hardships that life can throw your way. Like most Greatest Hits packages this has most of his best music. The problem is his career has spanned nearly three decades so another volume has been added! The massive hit "El Preso"(The Prisoner) was a hit all over Latin America and tells the feelings someone locked up has with death awaiting him. Depressing subject but a great dance tune or just listening to for that matter. "El Pantillero" (Watermellon Seller) is about a vendor's hardships encountered on a bad day. Here the subject matter is treated humorously, but it doesn't matter what these guys sing about as the catch is the beat and smokey vocals. If you like poly-rhythmic percussion, horns and fabulous vocals set to a sizzling Latin beat. This is a must have CD. Great high energy music that does not allow one to sit still. A great introduction to one of the best musicians (plays piano, guitar and bass) to come out of Medillin and arrange some of the most soulful music for the world to enjoy. If you like this, you may want to find some of the original CD's, although they are hard to find in some markets. A superb collection for fans and novices alike.

En esta coleccion de 2 cd.del volumen I hay que destacar la muy buena recopilaci?n de los temas como tambien ocurre en el Vol 2 y Vol 3.Una coleccion imprecindible para todos los seguidores de esta grandisima artista donde encontramos lo mejor de su inmejorable repertorio.Muy bonita la foto de la portada y muy bonito todo.
En este Vol.I hay que destacar algun tema como...Sola,Una vez mas y En algun lugar... que son dificiles de encontrar en las recopilaciones y en sonido digital!!!CD maravilloso!!!

ROCIO DURCAL - SU HISTORIA Y EXITOS MUSICALES VOLUME ONE is the most consistent and entertaining of her three double disc sets which appear to chronicle and sample her illustrious recording career in more detail and depth than any of her other compilations. My first Rocio Durcal exposure was her career defining AMOR ETERNO, which I discovered almost a decade after its heyday - better late than never. This woman possesses an alluring, enchanting and quite expressive vocal instrument which sweeps the listener into a musical world of delighful performances - you simply get lost in Rocio's musical world and her interpretive skills keep you hooked. Though I'm still exploring her recordings, VOLUME ONE has 32 tracks which are irressistably appealing and entertaining, with every track here a winner. This is an essential collection, from her majestic ballads, wonderful Mariachi flavored gems to her Latin Pop classics. The singer, the musicians, and song selection are of the highest calibre. I hope RCA/BMG honors the grand, immensely talented and divinely gifted Argentine vocalist SILVANA DI LORENZO with a similarly detailed multi-volume career defining compilation series similar to this in the near future. SILVANA left a recorded legacy of internationally popular hit albums and singles during the 70's and 80's of unforgettable Latin Pop recordings which only her remarkable voice could ever grace. She remains a Pop icon in South America.

Antonio Morales & Rocio Durcal: Pure Gold.......2004-05-22

You cannot deny the chemistry of these two artists; no wonder they wed. But until this collection, only a few songs were available for listening. Similar to volume two, this collection of 32 songs include rare songs not included in any cd: Amor del Alma (1977), Ya no me busques mas (1977), En algun lugar (1977), and Cuando Todo Se Acabe (1980). A variety of songs were written for Durcal's 1977 debut by Antonio Morales. Following her acclaim and controversy over a certain film, she dedicated her second half of her career with songs written by Juan Gabriel, and the limited release of Canta Con Mariachi, Vol. 4 with songs by the most famous songwriters, which some are included in this volume. Includes a four picture sleeve and brief biography. Track listing is ackward, but if anything, leave the rest of the best of albums alone and buy this collection, the most complete. Sound: B+ Music: A-
