Justo Betancourt's masterpiece...remastered........2007-01-09

Many thanks to Emusica Records (Fania's new owner) for reissuing and properly remasteriong this landmark album on CD. Whereas the previously available Cd was transferred directly from an LP record this new reissue was made from the original masters--with much better sound quality on all ten tracks. This was the album that made Justo betancourt a Salsa superstar--and one that shall remain a classic...forever. Buy it now if you don't yet have it!!!

This great salsa singer was unstoppable during the 1970s as he turned out one superb album after another. This 1977 release included the hit title track and "Soy Profesional". Listen to this one and you'll know why Justo was one of the master soneros of the decade.

Along with 1972's "Pa' Bravo Yo" and 1977's "Distinto Y Diferente" this album is absolutely indispensable for any serious salsero. Why? On such killer guaguancos as "Pedregal", "Como Lo Canto Yo", "Demuestrame Que Tu Sabes" and the fiery-hot "Cambia Palo Pa'Rumba" Justo epitomizes all that was so great about the legendary Cuban soneros of yesteryear. This is real salsa and son from one of the 1970s master soneros - any aspiring salsa sonero should consider this classic album required listening material as Justo was (and is) an all-time great sonero. Get it.

Justo Betancourt was one of the 1970s greatest soneros and "Sigo Bravo", "Lo Mio Es Mio" and "Matancero Soy" are timeless masterpieces from one of the greatest living soneros. If you are a serious salsero you need this CD in your collection (if you don't yet have it!).

Very disappointing in comparison to his 1970s classics........2003-10-20

This was Justo's final Fania release and it lacks the excellent material and superb production that were hallmarks of his classic 1970s albums such as "Pa Bravo Yo", "Distinto Y Diferente" and "Lo Sabemos". Vocally, Justo does give some good performances but they don't really compensate for the poor production and lacklustre material.

El señor Justo Betancourt es tambien parte importante de la historia de la salsa. Un gran sonero aunque no tuvo la pegada de otros como Adalberto santiago, Hector Lavoe, Marvin santiago, etc. Este es un disco aceptable pero no el mejor de su carrera. Considero que mucho mejor es el "Pa bravo yo". Pero buneo, en este CD Justo nos demuestra su habilidad para cantar salsa, bolero y chachacha. Lamentablemente las canciones no mantienen la calidad de su soneo.

No tengo la menor duda que esta grabacion de 1972 es el mejor disco del gran Justo Betancourt. Lamentablemente el sonido del CD deja mucho que desear. Aca si escuchamos a un Justo soneando como nunca y con canciones exactas para su voz. Cuando lo oimos sentimos nostalgia, alegria, ganas de bailar, etc. Altamente Recomendables: Pa bravo yo, Una audiencia muerta (magnifico ejemplo de chachacha), Cataño, Caracas tiene su guaguanco, Lagrimas y tristezas (tremendo bolerazo!!!). Con este disco Justo puso su nombre en lo más alto de la historia de la salsa. Comprenlo.

Released in 1972, this album made it very clear that Justo was one of the greatest salsa soneros ever. Its title track became Justo's signature song and made him a salsa superstar. "Caracas Tiene Su Guaguanco", "Oyeme Cantar", "Guaguanco 'Ta Moderno", "Lagrimas Y Tristezas" and the title track all bear witness to Justo's greatness as a sonero. This CD is truly a 1970s salsa essential.

FORGET ABOUT ALL THAT SON BY FOUR/ FRANKIE NEGRON AND JERRY RIVERA, ok justo is maybe not good looking, or have a high pitch voice, but he knows what salsa mean, and Pa' Bravo yo is something!!!! Have you ever heard of the word Sonero!!! "Oyeme Cantar" is a really good example of what sonear is...Justo show is improvising skills, and trust me he knows his stuff...so two words for all salsa fans, BUY IT!!! he have a powerfull band, really tight and it's a cd you need in your collection!!!
