Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Si me hubieras dicho.......2005-04-03

Gracielita Beltran is the better female singer.

Si me hubieras dicho, es una de las canciones más hermosas que he escuchado en mi larga carrera en la industria musical.

5 out of 5 stars Besame, Graciela!.......2001-11-10

I've read all the reviews for Graciela's CDs on Amazon, and I can't understand why so many people hate her so much. Reviews upon pointless reviews criticizing the speed of her vibrato (never mind there are different types of vibratos appropriate to various genres of music) and the quality of her voice (while praising squealers like Celine Dion? Excuse me???) and other diatribes by people who don't know the difference between alto and soprano, or others who damn her for wearing hot-pink dresses or berate her thighs and her breasts, have compelled me to provide some balance to these baseless opinions usually better served on no-talents like Jennifer Lopez.

Graciela has a lovely, vibrant voice that gives life to her songs, and her radiant smile reflects the myriad emotions her music inspires within her fans (and there are many - why else would she have released so many CDs on a major label?). Her voice and her beauty transcend the rather limited scope of banda music, which makes so many of her CDs sound fresh and fun. "Robame Un Beso," like "Tuya," is different. For those who are not fans of banda music - like me - "Robame Un Beso" is kind of a pop extension of the many styles she has recorded in the past. It almost sounds like "Pop Mariachi" or "Pop Ranchera," which gives it a light but nonetheless emotional and enjoyable impact. Highlights include the bouncy "Intacta," the fun boogie of "Brujo el Amor," the lilting, almost haunting "Tiempo de Amor," the fiery "Y Llore" and the spirited title track. There ain't a loser in the bunch.

So, if you want to hear excellent "crossover" mariachi/rancheras performed by a beautiful young woman with the voice of an angel, "Robase Un Beso" is just for you. If you like what you hear and feel adventurous, give one of her banda CDs a try, like her latest, "Para Mi Pueblo," or her classic "Tesoro." Oh, and Illinois, one last thing: I would wanna!

5 out of 5 stars Graciela at her finest on 'Robame Un Beso'.......1999-09-20

This CD is perhaps Graciela's best album to date. The slow cumbias, "Es Brujo El Amor," and "Intacta," are excellent for dancing. "Y Llore" is a tango-flavored ballad that is sure to catch attention. Graciela has a teardrop in her throat when she sings "Apuesto," a very emotional ballad about lost love and disillusionment. The only downside to this album is that it is only 29 minutes long. Listeners will surely wish that she had added a few more songs to it.

1 out of 5 stars Who would wanna?.......1999-07-30

Maybe some desperate man like Joan Sebastian would wanna get with an ugly girl like her, but I think she is absolutely nasty looking! Her voice has never been great, but it was better before. She struggled to hard to record this CD.
