Rising Tejano star Bobby Pulido delivers an interesting 17-track live album. The good news is that fans can listen to live versions of his catchy cumbias such as "Se Murió de Amor," "Le Pediré," "Margarita," and "Desvelado." The bad news is that not everything here works. Especially weak are the five mariachi songs the young Pulido tries to sing. A fundamental rule about rancheras (popular Mexican songs) is that they must be interpreted with loads of emotion, not sung at milquetoast intensity. Pulido must be given credit though: he's one of the few Tejano artists actively courting the Mexican audiences in an effort to expand his market. What he lacks in vocal strength, no doubt he'll gain in due time. In the meantime, his cumbia-polka strengths and his good looks will carry him. --Ramiro Burr
