In the years since Selena's death, label officials have released numerous hit compilations. Many of the big hits are here, from "Como la Flor" and "Mentiras" to early material such as "Que Creias" and "No Quiero Saber." The CD also includes the Juan Gabriel-penned classic "Costumbres," and here a young Selena does her best to interpret this torchy ranchera. Also cool are her hip cumbias "La Carcacha" and "Baila Esta Cumbia," where the young singer took a page from the tropical-cumbiero master Fito Olivares. So You are looking for a Selena Compilation to purchase?...Yes, there are many of them, too many, and a Guy can get confused, especially if He "discovered" Selena through Jennifer Lopez in the Movie, or Heard "Dreaming of You" and "I could fall in Love" after Her Murder in 1995...I have owned several "Best of's" Myself, but this One is Far and away the best of them all! After hearing the Songs here, You will realize that the above 2 mentioned Tunes are simply Ok, but Selena's Magic lies in Tejano, including the first 5 Songs on this Disc, "La Tracalera", "Carcacha", and many more...Don't bother with the other Compilations, they are Fine, but this is a Screaming BUY!

I admit I speak no Spanish, I only know a few words in Spanish though. Even though I do not understand what Selena is singing in this album I still love it! Como La Flor is my favorite song! It feels weird listening to Selena when she's not here but she's here in a way. I still love Selena! I loved her since the Selena movie came out! Anyways, I recommend you buy this C.D. today! You'll cherrish it always!

I love Selena's music; all of it! She had so much talent and was such a special person, as well. She could sing any style of music and do it so well. I have all her CD's as well as her videos, and most of her pictures. But, then again, so do millions of persons. Her music was sung from the heart and you can tell that she totally loved and enjoyed performing. Her songs kind of hit soft spots in all of us. We have lost a great young lady with such exceptional talent.

after hearing all the Anglicized versions of a lot of these songs. It is also a shock for those not used to real Tejano, as most of the songs on this CD are...someone once described Tejano as "polka with Spanish lyrics," and they weren't far off the mark. This CD goes along nicely with Todos Mis Exitos and Todos Mis Exitos II as Selena primers, for those who have never heard any Selena at all. The songs I love on this CD are "Costumbres," "No Quiero Saber," "Yo Fui Aquella" (which is a real shocker if you've only heard the version on Anthology, as I had before buying this CD--you will not expect this!), "Besitos," "Mentiras," "Tú Eres," and a sweet Spanish version of "Sukiyaki." If you like Selena and want to know what music she did before "Dreaming Of You," BUY THIS CD!! I love it :)

One of Selena's best recordings from the beginning of 'Como la flor' to the end of 'La tracalera' you are truly in music heaven. My favourites are 'Mentiras', 'Costumbres', Yo fui aquella', 'No quiero saber' and 'Yo me voy'. If you don't already have it, Buy this now! That's all i have to say. BYE!

"No Regrets For Our Youth".......2000-03-21

Daniela Romo is a new artist in my library. There was one song I kept hearing on our Latin radio stations which really entranced me and I heard it once in a Mexican restaurant. I asked the waiter who the artist and song was, and he told me about Romo, and the song, "De Mi Enamorate". This, I think, is the greatest song on her album, "Mis Mejores Canciones--17 Super Exitos". There is a certain sentimental atmosphere of our collective youth in Romo's music, and that romance and fantasy come out in "Enamorate". Another great selection on the album is the first cut, "Quiero Amanecer Con Alguien". The seventeen songs on the album give a complete example of Romo's body of work, and there is a definite consistency in her performance ability. I would like to learn Spanish, and although I can't understand the lyrics on this album, it seems clear that there is a fine poetry in many of the songs. Even so, the musical tunes can completely carry the attention of the listener even if he or she doesn't speak the language. This album is highly recommended because it captures a time in all of our lives which elicits the magic and love that we always long for.

This CD compiles her greatest hits. Every song is a modern-day classic, particularly the catchy (& danceable) "Yo No Te Pido La Luna" (translated: "You Don't Have To Give Me The Moon"), and the ethereal soulful rendering of "Amadar Mas Que Nunca."

Hacer un resumen de las mejores canciones de Alberto Cortez es una tarea dificil mas no imposible y yo personalmente creo que aunque quedan tantas canciones(o mas bien poemas) pendientes, no podemos negar que en este CD no hay ninguna cancion que no merezca estar entre las favoritas de los que tenemos como favorito a Alberto Cortez. Como ocurre al final de los recitales de Alberto Cortez una ambigua sensación se apodera de uno al escuchar la ultima canción de este CD. Por un lado la satisfaccion de haber escuchado 17 poemas perfectamente musicalizados e interpretados por una privilegiada voz y por el otro la sed de seguir escuchando tantas(quien no hubiese querido seguir escuchando "Mi bicicleta luz" por ejemplo), que le vienen a uno a la memoria, algunas de las cuales incluso no se han vuelto a editar en CD.
