Convierte el Merengue en Musica Internacional.......2000-10-18

Es increible como Melina logra llevar el merengue a otro nivel con este album. Para Melina León su merengue no tiene fronteras. Se puede ver en distintas fusiones con la batucada de Brasil, la bomba de Puerto Rico y el Flamenco español. Melina convierte el merengue en internacional con este album. Tampoco para ella existen barreras, ya que nos interpreta una EXCELENTE version de "Baño de Luna" en POP, que se escucho en una telenovela en Telemundo. Tambien nos presenta a la baladista con su "Cuando Una Mujer", que es un excelente tema.

Hola,soy Andrea de Buenos Aires. Quiro contarles que hhace poco me compre uno de los discos de Melina... y me parecio espectacular!!!Aca no es conocida. Yo habia escuchado uno de sus temas en un canal de videos, pero no conseguia el compacto. Bueno, cuando lo consegui, me lo compre y la verdad, que conoci a una artista maravillosa. Se los recomiendo en absoluto.

Desde el principio hasta el fin, este disco esta magnifico. El tema "Bano De Luna" tiene un ritmo de merengue tan original pero pegajoso al mismo tiempo. Esta misma cancion esta en ritmo de pop, que tambien suena sensacional. "Cachito De Esperanza" es un tema que seguramente encantara. Tiene un ritmo tan bueno y la letra esta magnifica tambien. Otro tema que resalta es "Seras". Comienza con un ritmo de bolero y despues convierte en merengue. Tambien esta "Siento", "El Mensaje", y "Mala Vida" que seguramente le gustara a cualquier persona que lo escuche. Definitivamente, este disco es el mejor trabajo de Melina Leon.

Exelente el "Baño De Luna" de Melina Leon. Sin duda alguna este es el mejor trabajo discografico de Melina Leon. "Baño De Luna" es el primer tema en promocion de esta gran produccion. Este tema tiene un estilo muy diferente al merengue usualmente interpretado por Melina ya que tiene unos ritmos brasileños unidos al merengue. Este tema tambien esta en una exelente version POP. "Seras", "Tu Amor", "Siento", y claro esta "Baño De Luna" son los mejores temas del disco. Otro grandioso tema lo es la balada "Cuando Una Mujer" la cual permite demostrar que antes de ser merenguera es cantante. Melina es una de las mas talentosas en este ambiente artistico. Ademas de ser hermosa tiene una voz unica. Melina tiene una exelente trayectoria...primro como baladista en el grupo Ruby y luego se convierte en una de las merenguera mas famosas con sus discos anteriores "Mujeres Liberadas" y "Con Los Pies Sobre LA Tierra". Este disco de seguro se convertira en otro exito mas para su carrera. Mucho exito para Melina Leon!

Music of Beauty and Originality.......2001-02-23

I am frequently in search of music by modern Greek artists which is both original yet authentic. Melina Kana's CD, "Portrait" is such. She sings with a haunting sweetness and a serious passion. The lyrics of her songs remind me of the demotika and laika songs I listened to as a child --- often with mythical references juxtaposed against strangely poetic interpretations of stark realities of the mundane world. Others of her songs transport us to another time and place. "Logia, Tsigara" reminds me of the rembetiko tragoudi yet it also reminds me of the quintessentially modern world --- perhaps the world of a Greek woman of the 21st century wherever she finds herself. "Argonaftes, Pezonaftes" transports me to Homer's Odyssey and also to the world of my Greek immigrant grandfather who told me quite fantastic stories of a world that he claimed his own and of which I could only dream. I did say Melina Kana's music will transport you. In "Milo Gia Sena" I imagined myself in northern Greece --- waterfalls, forests, and love --- somewhere near the Balkans. At other times I remembered the music of Rosa Eskanazi. The musicians who accompany Kana are "the bomb." Almost all acoustic instruments: clarino, violin, bouzouki, baglama, guitar, piano, and accordion. Alekandra (Salamandra)is about a fickle she-devil; the clarino is so pure and soulful, and it is the type of song reminiscent of the type I can remember an aunt singing as she cleaned house. Was she a housewife or a "tragoudistria"? This is the music of the double take. Kana and her musical collaborators and partners create a hypnotic space --- melodies and lyrics of beauty and originality that transport you. Again, the authentic and classic influences are clear to anyone who has listened to the full range of Greek music. It's beautiful. Buy it. You'll be glad you did. remember an

One of the best singers in Greece.......2000-09-18

Melina Kana is one of the most creative singers to come out of Greece. Her songs are very poetic (thanks to cooperations with songwritter Thanasis Papakonstantinou), and the music is uniquely Greek, melodic, rich in content, and full of emotion. This is an anthology CD, containing a large PORTRAIT of songs from Melina's long career in music. It includes fast danceable songs such as "Alexandra" & "Ah Na Perasei O Pyretos"(Ah, let the fever pass away) and of course mostly slower songs. Suspiciously absent though from this collection is some of her most well known songs, such as the instrumental track from her collaboration with Ashkhabad from her album "Lafira", which also included one of my all time favorite tracks from her called "Armatolo", and also "Vale Krasi"(Pour on some wine). This album though is the perfect introduction to some good quality Greek music, and of course I recommend it 100%, but I'd also recomend you to get her 1998 release "Lafira"(Loot), which showcases more of her talent.I recomend this singer if you like Eleftheria Arvanitaki (also one of Greece's finest singers) and Eleni Tsaligopoulou. Melina es una de las merengueras mas talentosas de Puerto Rico. Al igual que Jessica, Gisselle y Olga Tañon, entre otras, Melina a hecho del merengue femenino un verdadero exito. En esta su segunda produccion "Con Los Pies Sobre La Tierra", Melina deja notar su grandiosa voz al interpretar no solo merengue, sino tambien bolero y bachata. En este disco hay una exelente bachata a duo con el gran salsero Victor Manuelle titulada "La Persona Equivocada". Esta misma cancion Melina la interpreta en merengue. Otros temas del disco lo son "Sin No Vas A Decir Nada", "El Se Fue", "Me Voy De Fiesta Hoy", "No Te Olvide", y "Te Amo" escrito por Melina. Exelete disco.

I have had a record with most of these titles for over 20 years & am thrilled to see this CD available! All time favorite: the romping "Je suis Greque" - ("I am Greek") & the melancholy "Mes Amis D'Hier" ("My friends of Yesterday"). Melina is a powerhouse.

Este cd de Melina es muy bueno, es una copilacion de todas sus baladas que ha grabado en sus 4 discos. Incluye una nueva balada nunca antes oida. "Un extrano en mi banera" Si te gusta Melina leon este cd es para ti. "Romantica Y sensual" es el titulo de los exitos de Melina solo en baladas. Ojala y saquen uno con sus exitos pero en merengues. Este cd no puede faltar en tu coleccion.

I can take or leave the merengue stuff---after a while it becomes monotonous. I love the sensual quality of the voice in this CD, the various rhythmns.

I am a fan of Melina Leon, but why are all our merengueras starting to sing ballads and pop. We love them for their merengue. I mean they can have 1 or 2 ballads, but their is not 1 single merengue song on this album. I did find some good songs on here. Si Tu Te Vas is probably the best song on this album. It has a nice beat to it. The other good ones are Quiero Ser Tuya,Encadenado, and Demasiado.Hopefully she will have some merengue on her next album.

I really enjoyed this cd from Melina. This was my first exposure to this Latin Artist. This cd has a variety of Latin music ( pop, ballad, dance and merengue) that really display Melinda's vocal talents and range. Melina's obvious talents are certainly on display on this cd and show her to be a talented and serious muscian.

Great variety from a top singer.......2002-10-22

Melina León's fourth album (and her third for Sony Discos), titled Corazón de Mujer, is a album that is not only made great, but has songs that are catchy and you can't get enough of them. The title song is offered in three versions (Merengue, Pop, and Dance), and they all give a different aspect to a great song overall. Her other songs are just as great, including "Otra Vez' (in merengue and ballad version), "Por Un Muchacho", "Un Hombre De Verdad" (merengue and pop/ballad version), and a song written by Melina herself, "Ya No Quiero Nada" which seems to blend merengue, ballad, and pop into a cornicopia of a great song with great lyrics. With albums like this, and her previous "Baño de Luna", Melina has proven she can move beyond the "merenguera" title and into a bigger market, and I must congratulate her. Her voice is amazingly powerful, and she sings great in all aspects: merengue, pop, and ballad. I hope her next work is just as well done!
