From start to finish it is great. Better than a lot of mainstream stuff. These guys pack an awesome and energetic live show and the musicians are tight. Favorite tracks: She's the Devil and Yolanda. Love the disco-salsa and cumbia-rock fusion! Elements of reggae also interesting and keep the album fresh. I have added these guys to my lookout list of emerging artists, there's a lot of great new stuff out there and these guys are a prime example. Way to go Locos!

[CD Review: Musica Pa'l Pueblo]. Ironically enough I discovered Locos Por Juana on a CD Review by Christopher Ard who writes for N.O.sotros Magazine, thanks Chris! LPJ's debut CD was phenomenal and you ask any band and they will tell you that coming up with a "good" sophomore CD is very difficult and rare in the music industry. But I've been fortunate enough to see these cats live in concert and I can tell you that seeing them live for the first time was like seeing a revelation. Lead singer Itagui from Colombia is a poet with an infectious stage presence. Yes they are all that and bag of Doritos! So when I heard their new CD "Musica Pa'l Pueblo" (Le prendi una velita a Juana) I became convinced that Locos Por Juana is definitely one of the best bands to come out of Miami since Miami Sound Machine back in the day. Their New CD is exciting form beginning to end, blending Rock, Reggae, Funk, Salsa, Hip Hop and Yucca Frita. It's got it all! Their music will punish you with pleasure and your ears will thank you for taking the time to listen to something beautiful. Once again doing a Great job, I hear their first Cd, great music, reggue, Ska, cumbia, salsa, rap. This people are super talent, Voices, trumpets, percussion,the whole deal.This new Cd come's with great new sound, it is tight and with tons of joy, Music that wants you to dance and chill and the same time.It is a 100% satisfaction if you are those that like Manu Chao, ozomatly, Mano Negra,La Juana production then you need to get this new cd.

Get this album!.......2003-04-03

For everyone who loved Jandy's voice on Chichí Peralta's classic album Pa otro lao must have definately heard his first solo album aswell. He just has the best voice arround and he knows how to use it. Just as the first album Jandy does great with both ballads and more swinging songs and the second album aswell. Songs such as Amor de locos, Pretendes and Dime que mas da will sure make you feel some emotions while songs like Si tu me dejas volver with definately get you wanting to be on the dancefloor.

Este album es mucho mas parejo que el anterior. En su album debut quizas habian canciones muy movidas y otras muy lentas. Este album muestra a un Jandy mas cuajado, con mejores letras y con una seleccion de temas mas uniforme. Resaltan : Lola, Los Amores, Pretendes, Cosa Bella, El Amor se menea y Si tu me dejas volver. Creo que este album es una version perfeccionada del primero, aunque siempre dentro de los mismos parametros (muy bien establecidos por cierto). Este CD reafirma las condiciones de Jandy como excelente compositor y cantante y creo que nos prepara para mucho mas a futuro....! Si compraste el primer CD no hay forma que este no te guste.

This Voodo Glow Skulls CD is one of the best I've bought. The listener can get hot and skanky to this easily danceable collection of songs. Fast and hard, guaranteed to make old people turn their hearing aides down, this CD is AWESOME.

This is definitely the best VGS album. The upbeat, high-energy music makes you want to get up and move.The horns, drums, and guitar compliment eachother to the point of perfection. This is music you can really feel. If you like ska, definitely check this one out.

Que se puede decir de este disco?? Es perfecto! A veces es bien dificil conseguir uno tambien. Sugiero que lo compras, no hay que tambalear, compralo güey. El Gran Silencio es lo mejor que ha habido desde hace mucho tiempo. Mezclan 'sin costura' el hiphop, norteño, cumbia colombiana, rock, punk...todo.

Es dulzura para tus oidos hermano. Le encantó a este gringo.

El Gran Silencio debut CD is without a doubt one of the freshest sounds to come out of Mexico in years. The band hails from Monterey, one of the industrial giants of Mexico but the music is not industrial. This album has flavors that are distinct and masterfully blended to create a beautiful musical stew, una mezcla de variedad. Cumbias, Nortenas, Folkloric, Polka, Hip-Hop, Punk, Cypress Hill meets LA Banda Fulano, Los Lobos meets Kid Rock, Rage against the Machine meets the Cumbia All Stars, this band is truly a master of synthsizing all the best elements of diverse styles. Who would have thought that Nortena and polka could have been blended with blistering punk and hip-hop? EGS has done just that and more. At times one wonders if the same band is playing throughout as they take the acoustic route on Creatura de Luz to create some lovely music with fine harmonious singing and chorus that compliments the tight violin work featured. Tonta Cancion de Amor No.2(Stupid Love Song#2) is a catchy tune that has mainstream pop all over it. Several highlights include Dormir Sonando,No Sabemos Amar and the title track Libres Y Locos which is a fine blend of Folklorico that rises to a smashing cresendo of guitar riffs and hip-hopish vocals that rock."Somos Mexicanos,orgullosos y sabrosos,somos silenciosos, somos Libres y Locos, somos unidos, no somos desunidos". I'm not Sally but my name is Tony. I like Rap and punk rock. This excellent CD is a combination of the two types of music. Good beats and good lyrics (even though I don't understand them). Basically I would recommend this CD to anyone.

If you, like everyone else, was hooked by Cafe Tacuba's 'Re' and desperately tried to found another album like it to no avail....then Locos y Recues in Retro is what you are looking for!

This is a record where every song is ... i don't know, it's kinda special, like so other records i heard from other kinds of music, you can hear it all long and you will like every song, its those that you'll like every song. I Love it.

Salon Victoria's debut CD "Locos Y Rucas in Retro" is by far one of the best albums i've ever heard. The diversity in this record is very unique, one moment you're hearing ska, the next you're hearing swing, then some mambo and then before you know it some hardcore punk comes in! The 11 musicians that make up this band are truly talented. The drummer, Cheko Mendoza could easily replace the drummer of Rush!
Stand out tracks on this album are: "Nasty Uncle Hippy", "Satanas Swing", "Fandango Allende" (the tale of Chile's slain leader), "Pozoñas Surf" "Ciudad Sin Guerra" (which talks about getting drunk in a romantic version of Mexico City), and "La Noche Estaba Puesta".
This album is a masterpiece, a must have if you're looking for something unique and refreshing.
Recommended for fans of ska, swing, punk, rockabilly, mambo, tango and just good music in general.
