This is a MUST HAVE CD!.......2000-06-15

Some time ago, while driving in my car, a song came on the radio that absolutely captivated me. I recognized the song, but could not think of the title. As soon as I was able to, I called and asked for information about what I had just experienced. I was shocked when the DJ told me it was "Take The "A" Tain". The things Gene Harris did with this standard blew me away. I went out right away and bought this CD. It was one of the best additions I have ever made to my collection. Gene Harris uses more of the piano, and gets more out of it than anyone since Art Tatum. His versatillity in changing YOUR mood becomes evident once you listen. He gets you bouncing with "A Train","Blues in Baxter's Pad", and "Blues for St.Chappelle". The melodic sounds of "Ma! He's Making Eyes at Me", "How Long Has This Been Going On?" and "Old Dog Blues" will have you unconsciously (and uncontrollably) swaying in your seat. While "Pensativa" takes you on a quick mental getaway. I'm sure with this CD you will become hooked and it will start you on your Gene Harris pursuit as it did me. I have listened to this CD countless numbers of times, and continue to. Whenever I go out of town, this CD goes with me. I have no idea of what other CD's would go with me if I was stranded on a dessert island, but I'm positive this would be #1. This is quite possibly the finest live jazz recording I have ever heard.

I enjoy listining to this album a lot and I do not think you can go wrong adding it to your collection.

Great Dino Songs for the Whole Family.......2001-08-07

This is a fabulous album for dinosaur fans of all ages. A pair of lively dinosaur dance tunes frame an album of largely lyrical songs that allow various dinosaurs to introduce themselves. Despite the title, this is Broadway, not Rock & Roll. (See "Dinosaur Rock" if you prefer real Rock & Roll.) In a style remniscent of "A Chorus Line" or "Cats," the album features surprisingly imaginative melodies and lyrics with a synthesized accompaniment. The lyrics make only fleeting reference to the more gruesome aspects of dinosaur life, making this album suitable for listening in mixed settings with younger children. With well-crafted, interesting songs in a nicely paced album, this is a CD your children can listen to over and over again without driving you nuts.

As a side bonus, listeners get some genuine education with these songs. From "thick-headed" Pachycephalasaurus to "Mother Maiasaura" gaurding her nest of Hadrasaur babies, the songs feature accurate descriptions of dinosaurs (based on current scientific knowledge) that easily complement information available in non-fiction dinosaur books available at any public library. It's an amazing treat -- a science lesson that comes on stage and sings to you. It's also just plain fun, with tunes you'll find yourself humming again and again.

Music for kids that doesn't drive the parents insane!.......2000-12-08

I bought this tape for my four year old because she is crazy about dinosaurs. As a four year old, she likes to hear her favorite music over and over...before bed, during our long drives in the car, etc. That means that I have to hear it as well. I am a singer with a trained voice and some of the kids music I have heard can make my skin crawl. This tape is the absolute exception! It is very well done and educational. My older children; ages 7, 9, and 13 enjoy it as well. But, they also loved the musical "Cats".

Also and maybe more important, this MDO cd has superior sound mastering. Baila never sounded better and louder than the version that appears here. This cd is completely worth the import price.

i just love the title song "just a little piece of heaven", it's really dancy and can't stop playing it on the player, but as for the entire album, i think they need more materials like the title songs so that the whole album really show their talents, or else it's a waste of 5 young and talented guys like them. a 5 for the title song but sorry, i hav to take one star away from the album review!
