THIS MAN.......2001-12-23

Let me tell you about this man and his voice! He has did it again. this CD sounds like pure love. His voice romances any one in ear shot of his voice. The Guitar is as song and good as ever and every song is laced with the hypnotic romance in his voice. if you are unfamilar with Bachateros, he is on of the best and even with his young age he is a pioneer in his own. If you Purchase this CD he will not let you down.

Como su ropa y su forma de vestir este disco es suave, fino y digno de mucho reconocimiento. Se puede decir que en general los discos de Raulin Rodriguez siempre son trabajos muy bien hechos. Sin embargo, este tiene un toque muy especial que nunca he escuchado de cualquier otro bachatero. La bachata de disco es muy romantica de principio a fin y tambien cuenta con una balada que es excepcional "Cuando se habla de amor". Para los que no saben de Raulin el es autor de la mayoria de sus canciones por lo tanto son obras originales. Esta obra "Sin Fortuna" nos convence de que Raulin sigue cobrando fuerza. No creo que haya quien como el. Este disco esta lleno de mucha creatividad y tenura.

I adore this cd!.......2004-07-29

A wonderful Renaissance cd, I love the fine musicianship of all the instrumentalists and I particularly admire Geraldine McGreevy's bold and audacious interpretation of these songs. One of my favorites is #24, a lyrical instrumental piece, beautifully done. I highly recommend this cd!

A great cd at a very low price.......2003-05-13

If you enjoy spanish renaissance music, this cd is a must have. The songs vary widely from one to another: sacred and secular - vocal and instumental. The instuments used are pimarily: lute, guitar, drum, and recorder. I do not recall hearing any of the reed instuments of that era, crumcorns, etc. Buy it and enjoy.

One rare case in music history is Juan del Encina(1469-1529).Spanish poet,composer, dramatist,and clergyman who had the protection of three popes... Poetry and musical composition for him were a "back to back" thing,as he would use his poems as text for many of his villancicos and romances.A large number of his works appear in the "Cancionero de Palacio"...This recording by Hesperion XX and Jordi Savall, gives us the opportunity to listen to how he combined so well music, and poetry...The rare thing about the music of Del Encina is that being a clergyman there are no sacred works accredited to him....
