Grupo Mania is top merengue.......2003-05-19

I am working my way back thru Grupo Mania. I have heard, and I am seeing myself that they are a group that just got better and better with each alblum.

Their latest album, Latino, won a grammy, and is really an impressive album, managing to be highly original and distinctive, no small feat. Their singing is absolutely impreccable.

The previous Mania 2050 is a longer, and in a way a more serious album. The songs are less unusual then Latino, but there are some really good songs, and the singing is great.

Master of the Stage precedes these two. It is very similar in conception to Mania 2050, but overall the songs are less strong, and get to be a bit repetitious. This is not to say they are not good, but just relative to the two latter albums. There are indeed several standouts, especially the salsa that ends the album.

The boys' singing is absolutely fine, but they got even more polished and sophisticated on their last two albums.

Te Pego Mi Mania.......2000-07-12

Grupo Mania continues to impress CD after CD. If you have all of their CD's you notice how the sound,lyrics, and harmony just keeps getting better. What makes Grupo Mania so good is not just their front line but there musical arranger - Israel Casado. Israel is responsible for Grupo Mania's hits - Cuento con mi Pueblo, Pa'l bailador, Bombon, etc. and from the new cd about three titles. Israel also does work for Tono Rosario and Los Hermanos Rosario. Mania's merengue is fast paced with rythm - not too many bands have that. They also have the best play of chorus. Notice the play of notes/chorus on Ya no mas mentiras in this cd. This is one of Mania's best cd's.

Otra vez Grupo Mania regresa con su nuevo CD y debo decir que esto es definitivamente lo mas mejor del grupo.Basicamente muy diferente de los ultimos 6,su primer sencillo 'Bajo la Lluvia' se pega total dondequiera que vas y 'Adivina' es simplemente el mejor tema del CD con letras poderosa y un swing contagioso.Sin embargo,chequeen este nuevo de los maestros de las tarimas,No arrepentiran.

Una vez mas queda demostrado que Grupo Mania son los #1. Este CD como todos los de Grupo Mania esta exelente. Cada vez que sacan un CD nuevo van mejorando su estilo. La produccion, los temas, los arreglos, las voces, en fin el disco esta perfecto para los amante del buen merengue. Mis mas sinceras felicitaciones a sus integrantes Banchy, Oscar, Chino, y Alfred. SE LA COMIERON!
