J-Live, one of the most talented emcees the underground has seen. The man started out as a middle school English teacher; it was only when this album finally hit shelves in 2001 after drawn out troubles with two different record labels that he was able to focus on rhyming full time. From then on, J-Live has come with consistently tight records, and he's known as one of the best in the highly competitive world of conscious rap. One listen to this, his first studio album, blasts away all question.

"The Best Part" showcases J-Live's talents over beats from the hottest producers out there: Primo, Pete Rock, and Prince Paul all contribute. His academic background means you're in store for the best in clever wordplay, and as always J comes packed with rhymes that uniquely delve into intelligent subject matter, like "Vampire Hunter J," an attack on the heartless and greedy side of government, and this CD's banger "R.A.G.E.," a declaration of J's anger about the state of the black community.

J also rocks a tight story rap about the life of twin thugs on "Wax Paper," and spits a sick couple verses about the hip hop industry over a speed-changing beat on the impressive "Them That's Not." The real gem of this cd, though, is the slower, introspective "Timeless," where J contemplates life over a laid back beat and we all get a little bit closer to enlightenment. Overall, this album is nothing but straight classic; A+ material.

The Best Part is that you can cop this pretty easy off eBay or froogle for $15. Do it.

You can't do better than this wonderful recording by the multi-talented Jimmy Heath. There's energy & intelligence in every track, featuring his strong arrangements. And there's an especially warm tone to his playing that adds richness to both the standards & his own fine compositions. If you're looking for the highest caliber in jazz, you've come to the right place! All that's left after savoring this collection is to track down the rest of his excellent body of work. Most highly recommended!

One of the best examples of Jimmy Heath's playing/arranging.......1999-07-12

This was one of the first recordings I ever purchased thirty or so years ago and Jimmy Heath's playing and arranging sounds as good and as fresh on this CD as it did then. The unusual line up including Julius Watkin's french horn hits home immediately with a superb version of GEMINI. The other Heath brothers excel on this recording together with the excellent piano of Cedar Walton. THE MORE I SEE YOU is not the usual ballad rendition and all the better for it but my favourite track is DEW AND MUD with the Heath fraternity (particularly Jimmy and Al) to the fore. Altogether an excellent example of Jimmy Heath's playing and arranging supplemented on most tracks by Watkins and Freddie Hubbard.

B4 Their Albums got Punkier with Paper Covers.......2006-01-03

A Short but pummelling Metal/ HardCore Album with 90% HC riffing(ie Heavy PUNK) and awesome BeatDowns for the Ninjas waiting for the Metal parts especially tracks 2/3/4/9. The vox are def not the NewSchool Metal kind(All Out War, Candiria,Disembodied,Throwdown,etc.) but a punky/oi'sh kind that's pretty understandable. Ex Hatebreed members and guests Blood for Blood. Look for a then unknown Sworn Enemy in the album pics. I don't know about today but back in 2001 these guys always got the violence movin.

CT's Death Threat play uncompromising, brutal hardcore. The singer's vocals are something you either love or hate, I find them catchy as hell and easy to sing along to. Tons of tough mosh parts and heavy breaks that will make you trash everything and everyone in your vicinity. Don't expect gimmicks or metal bravado guitarwork, just expect some honest, real, hardcore and get read to shake your booty to one of the best hardcore bands ever. MOSH!! XXX

This CD has a nice layout, good sound and it's just plain brutal. It's cool the way the music is hard as nails but the vocals kind of have that gruff, oi-influenced sound. When I saw them in canada, they covered Operation Ivy's "Bombshell" so they win instant points with me. the music is new schoolish HARDcore with all the fast parts still intact. BUY THIS NOW

Having seen this band progress from a side project of Hatebreed, some changes great and small have evolved.
With the introduction of a metal aspect, the music was able to move into areas that may not have been acceptable in a purely hardcore situation. The situation got a bit out of hand due to the idea that the metal could move the crowd into a "tough guy" place. With the change of key personnel, the new band has created music that maintains its edge. It has some damned good riffs and breakdowns that move a pit into action. Aaron's personal lyrics were brought to the front and a more human aspect came into play. A close listen makes you appreciate those that surround you. This new music is well worth any and all radio play it gets, and they deserve the best. They work hard at their music and should get the recognition that they have worked so hard for.

anyone who says that this is "wimpcore" should go to a death threat show, and sorry these guys wont be on ozzfest anytime soon. if you're into hardcore you like this cd if you don't like this cd you're not into hardcore that's it.....end of story. also, quick fyi for yuh, the old korn cd isn't good hatebreed sucks and the girl from otep isn't tough.
