I have recently added Vol. 3 to those of Vols. 1 & 2. That indicates how much I appreciate this recording, the artist, and the composers. Rivero Gustavo is a consummate artist who plays with imagination, sensitivity, brilliance and intellect. I cannot imagine a superior performance to this one! A special treat are the Armengol pieces---just dazzling! A MUST for the collector!!

Un....be....lieve....ably A W E S O M E ! ! !.......2004-01-13

This record is a masterpiece. This record will stand up favorably against any record or artist in the world ever. This record was made by people who are masters and are trying to outdo Mozart and Bach. There is so much great stuff on this record that it is....simply...unbelievable. The artists are so masterful that they pepper in flourishes all over that are absolutely killer-diller, yet they hide them in corners and crannies as if they were nothing. Subtle, sublime, utopian, romantic, wonderful...oh, did I mention that I love Roberto Carlos? I've been listening to this recording over and over for years, and tonight I turned it up a little and heard lots of stuff I hadn't noticed before.

Excellent on dozens of levels.
Lead Vocal (Roberto Carlos) - 10 (out of 10) stars. No pyrotechnics, but absolute masterful delivery. Filled with subtle nuance, emotion and jazz that is so good that you don't hear it unless you listen for it. Then when you hear it is loaded with it. For example, when he delivers the spine tingling opening line: "Si me vas a olvidar, porque asi lo has querido, yo no voy a llorar..." (if you are going to forget me, because that's the way you want it, I'm not going to cry...) He delivers the line "I'm not going to cry" in a trembling voice that suggests he IS going to cry, of course, but it's subtle so you don't notice it, but it has a subliminal effect that adds 100 tons of impact to the lyric.

Lyrics (Roberto Carlos and others) - 10 (out of 10) stars. Steller. Abre Las Ventanas al amor (Open the windows to love) is my favorite, but 5 or more are excellent.

Sound (unknown genius) - 10 (out of 10) stars. 100% crystal clear from the very first note of the record, and on through the end. On "Que es Lo Que Hago" ("What should I do?") the sound is used as an extra instrument, with some rhythms of the arrangement carried out by reverb. Like I said....masterful.

String arrangments (unknown genius) 10 (out of 10) stars - In your face, subtle under the radar screen, talking strings, singing strings, call and response with the rock band strings, romantic strings, melodic strings, rhythmic strings. I've never heard any others quite this good.

3.5 years later....still listening and still getting blown away. The excellence of this record never seems to end. Just ripped it into I-tunes and am enjoying it some more. "Que es lo que hago" features a cool synthesizer solo, and "Si Me Dices Que Ya No Me Amas" features a great acoustic guitar solo.
