Paco's arrangement of traditional Spanish tunes.......2001-01-05

In too many notes to be described here, in Mi Historia Paco De Lucia shows us again how well he combines technique and expressiveness with tasteful composition and arrangement. The recording features many traditional Spanish tunes (as well as some of his own) but he presents them with great passion (which is his trademark!).

One of Mexico' greatest treasures!.......1999-01-03

Piruli's great guitar allows the listener to fully appreciate a wonderful voice now lost to the world. He took classic Mexican ballads as well as his own hits, such as Veronica, and taught the younger generation to fully respect the Mexican love songs. The record company, however, should honor such great talent by offering the rest of his music in CD form, as Piruli recorded numerous albums. All of my Piruli vinyl albums are now put away, well-worn, and scratchy in anxious wait for future music in CD's.

A voice that moves your heart.......2000-10-18

When I first heard a record of Mercedes Sosa I was completely astonished with her voice and feeling. Each and every song along the record are huge performances. "Gracias a la vida", which is an anthem in Argentina and many countries in america. "Duerme negrito" and "Si se calla el cantor" has beautiful rythms that keeps you moving and humming each songs; "La Maza" froma Silvio Rodríguez presents complex and beautiful guitar playing; "Alfonsina y el mar" and "Yo vengo a ofrecer mi corazón" with incredible lyrics and melodies confirm the greatness of Mercedes Sosa. Both lyrically and musically, the record stands as a true jewel of world music. Buy it with confidence, and without a doubt, the universal feeling of Mercedes will make your heart beat with emotions so profound that you'll inmediately try to obtain all of his records!

Another compilation with the same big hits........2005-05-11

With the sole exception of the closing track ("Cosas Nativas") virtually every song on this 12-track CD can be found on the 1994-released "Oro Salsero 20 Exitos" 2-CD set. Given the fact that Tommy Olivencia's decade at TH-Rodven Records (1979-89) gave him some of his all-time biggest hits it's a shame that PolyGram/Universal Music Latino has not reissued most of his best LPs for the label on CD.

Frankie was one of the best and he will be missed. His voice was one of many that I'd heard since I can remember but one cannot say that he tops the likes of Willie Colon or Ismael Rivera(El SONERO Mayor) If it wasn't for those two and many others such as Hector Lavoe, Isamel Miranda, and few others involved with La Fania All Stars, where do you think that Frankie would've gotten his love for salsa. Let him rest in peace with El Cantante "Hector", El Sonero Mayor "Maelo", and our last one to depart Frankie " El Tartaro de la Salsa" God Bless them all en el cielo and let his music touch everyone with the same love it has touched me and many others.

I've been a fan of Frankie Ruiz ever since I can remember. Raised in Boston, MA with a hispanic background I grew up listening to Salsa. Everyone I know and I, have a love for his music. Frankie's voice was just magical. I would start singing and dancing anywhere, anytime I'd hear his music. In my heart he was the #1 Salsa Singer, he should of received more recognition than what he got. I'm sure others feel the same way. Willie Colon, Ismael Rivera (other old time/well known salsa artists) could never compare to Frankie's magical voice. He had such vitality in his singing. I could never forget him! I will always play his music anywhere, anytime!

Brightens your day when you play this CD. Bring to any salsa party and they'll be dancing away all night. Ruiz has the voice of an angel and he smiles throughout the CD. I love his pronunciation of the spanish words. Just a pleasure to have these songs be mine.
