Appalachian Stomp is an ideal starter disc for those just beginning to explore bluegrass. Mostly this is because its 18 selections are so immediately accessible. The "classics" here, in other words, are usually those infrequent bluegrass cuts to have gained radio recognition beyond a core bluegrass audience. That explains why along with timeless standards such as Flatt & Scruggs' "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and the Osborne Brothers' "Rocky Top" we also get "Dueling Banjos" from the film Deliverance, a cut that is to classic bluegrass what Walter Murphy is to Beethoven. There are less immediately obvious choices too, though. If your previous exposure to bluegrass doesn't go beyond the Holy Trinity of Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and the Stanley Brothers--for example, if you've never heard J.D. Crowe & the New South's stellar example of progressive bluegrass, "Old Home Place," or experienced Jimmy Martin lay down the law on his rousing "You Don't Know My Mind"--then you're in for a high-lonesome surprise. --David Cantwell

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars 80's nostalgia.......2007-06-11

Remember the 1980's, when all we had to worry about was nuclear war instead of rampant terrorism? Well, for those like me who grew up during that decade, this CD is an overflow of nostalgia. It contains some of the best songs of the 80's.

Songs like WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN (the Bangles), WALKING ON SUNSHINE (Katrina and the Waves), HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH (Belinda Carlisle) and I KNOW THERE'S SOMETHING GOING ON (Frida) are almost pure nostalgia straight-from-the-bottle.

For me, the 2 best songs are MANEATER (Hall & Oates) and HANDS TO HEAVEN (Breathe). MANEATER is the best song Hall & Oates ever wrote, and it also describes quite a few sadistic women I've met in my life. HANDS TO HEAVEN takes me back to the first time I heard it. It was in boot camp & was the first time they allowed us to listen to the radio. For a few brief moments I was able to in my mind get away from the United States Navy!

I've never cared for Huey Lewis & The News, but POWER OF LOVE is their best song & the song they're most known for. I like Pat Benatar, but never thought LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD was one of her best songs. I would have much preferred SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT, but that's just my opinion.

The biggest gaffe on the album in my mind is Falco's ROCK ME AMADEUS. I never cared for it, even though I'm a big fan of classical music (including Mozart!). Never seemed there was much substance to it, and it's little wonder that Falco was basically a 1-hit wonder.

All-in-all, however, the majority of the songs on this album fit nicely for everyone who went to High School during the 80s. If you graduated from HS in 1980-something, give this CD a try!

5 out of 5 stars AWSOME 80's MUSIC.......2007-05-12

If you like 80's music, then this is one cd you must have in your collection. The selection is good and the flow of the music is just right. As you listen to it it will bring back memories of those special moments back in high school.

4 out of 5 stars Awesome 80's.......2007-05-07

This is a mix of some awesome 80's music. You will love it!

4 out of 5 stars More Pure 80's.......2007-04-15

A good mix of great 80's songs. Since most bands from the 80's were one hit wonders (or really close to that), you get the music you love without all the extra "filler" songs you don't want.

4 out of 5 stars Rock Me Amadeus.......2007-03-19

This is a nice compilation of the 80's, it's only essential for collectors like me because it contains 3 rare track versions.

The first one is the 4 munites and 4 seconds edit of "I Know There's Something Going On" which is now only available on Frida's album "Something's Going On" as bonus track.

The second song is Tears For Fears "Shout" that clocks at 4 minutes and 6 seconds which again is only available on the latest DELUXE re-issue of "Songs From The Big Chair".

The third and last song is Falco's rare "Canadian Version" (4 minutes and 8 seconds) which is an edit to the 8 minutes and 21 seconds of "Salieri Version" that was released on the US version CD of "Falco 3" by A&M records in 1985. However, I noticed many of you are trying to locate this song without paying big $$$ for the long deleted Falco 3 CD and you can only find it on 2 CDs, one of them is Falco 'Hit Singles' released by Warner in 1998 again now it's out-of-print (try Amazon Germany for a cheaper second hand) and the other one titled "I love Techno Pop vol.2" which is still in print only in Spain and by the way an awesome compilation of 12inch hits, you can find it and buy it at Blanco Y Negro official website.

Anyway, a must for hardcore fan of the 80's.

I found this to be a nice collection of favorites, especially to keep in the car and listen to. It is a variety of well known compilations. Although not encompassing, it is perfect as a review for driving, relaxing, and enjoyment. Plus, the price is right!

[...] Honestly, it isn't THAT THAT great, but its good enough for its price. I'd say that your $ pays off, for a while. I've noticed how after a long time, it gets aggrivating at times. No harm meant, "Beethoven lover". I just mean don't plunge into this cd with all the hopes in the world. Besides, it's just my opinion, so you may like it more than me. All i can say is; a) listen to some samples before you buy, b)know this is not REALLY the great Beethoven himself, and c) enjoy YOUR music, whatever it may be.

2 out of 5 stars Great Price...Not so good itself.......2005-05-19

This a great priced cd, but the content is why it is so cheap. It's a true-amateur album. Beethoven Lover is over her/his head. This is the real world, not a fantasy-everyone-likes-every-type-of-music world. Deal with it and agree with me. It isn't so great.

The aim was to do for country what Saturday Night Fever did for disco. The result was that bars from Kona to Kalamazoo suddenly had mechanical bulls, and slickers walking around in cowboy hats. You might also pinpoint this as the moment in time when "country" music suddenly went cosmopolitan, paving the way for Garth Brooks. Johnny Lee's "Lookin' for Love" was one of the decade's biggest singles, and this album briefly made a star of Mickey Gilley (whose Texas club provided a home for that alpha bull). Fans of Bob Seger, Jimmy Buffet, the Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, and Bonnie Raitt may want this collection for the tunes they lack elsewhere. And it sure recalls an era. But please don't call it "country." --Bill Holdship

3 out of 5 stars Where were the good songs?.......2007-05-21

I love this movie, and I like the songs on this soundtrack, but, there are some songs that were in the movie that realy need to be on the soundtrack, but, they, for some reason left them out. Such as the intro song, "Texas", by Charley Danials. But, overall, it is a good album.

5 out of 5 stars you made my day........2007-05-14

I have the music on 8track but, haven't been able to play it for years, no 8 track player. Now the music is back. Good customer service.

younger days!! Some really good memories! Thanks!

5 out of 5 stars Urban Cowboy Music Lover.......2007-03-10

at last I found my Urban Cowboy music... love the movie and the music

5 out of 5 stars Very Very Good.......2007-02-12

I'm not a country music fan in the least. But I saw this movie at least 3 times and it was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the music. There are several good artists on this soundtrack like Dan Fogelbert, Bob Seger, Anne Murray, The Eagles, Johnny Lee. Charlie Daniels, Kenny Rogers and a few others. Every song on this ST is excellent. Even if you're not a country music fan like myself, this is one good CD to have in your collection of movie soundtracks.

New Age music, ambient electronica, and spiritualized hip-hop received their first major, K-Tel-like treatment in 1996 when Virgin Records assembled Pure Moods. The "As Seen on TV" compilation quickly became a hot seller, and it would be nice to think that its popularity has as much to do with the music as the marketing. To be sure, Pure Moods offers genre hits aplenty: from Enya's "Orinoco Flow" to "Sadness" from Enigma; from a dance mix of the "X-Files Theme" to edits of vintage electronica from Mike Oldfield (Tubular Bells) and Jean Michele Jarre (Oxygene). Beyond other selections of beat-enhanced chants and a few other popular themes ("The Mission," "Twin Peaks"), the album, refreshingly, also includes a few selections noteworthy only for their originality and quality. A three-track section near end of the 70-minute disk features affecting soft African chants from Geoffrey Oryema, followed by "My Wife with Champagne Shoulders," a dollop of regal, faintly ethereal romanticism from master film scorer Mark Isham, then a robust piano workout, "The Promise" from Michael Nyman (The Piano). With so many elements of interest on its 17 tracks, the album's broad diversity is sure to have broad popularity. --Terry Wood

5 out of 5 stars Only Needs A Bit Of M E H D I.......2007-07-31

Oh, Wow! This is a cd that will be liked by all who enjoy M E H D I, E N I G M A or E N Y A. It is the very essence of good new age. So tranquil, yet so spirited, this cd is a refreshing break from my well-worn collection, I just keep wanting to listen to it over and over again. I am amazed! It reminds me somewhat of the others in the series, but still very unique. This is music to the soul. Absolutely relaxing, as well.

5 out of 5 stars A classic.......2007-06-14

Great compilation of electronic music for it's time. A lot of depth to it, you don't get to the 5th or 6th song and start getting into what seems like "filler".

5 out of 5 stars Classical relaxation.......2007-05-20

I loved the music on here they are so peacful like the xfiles theme tubular bells with the overy babbling melody and crockettes theme which was the best song with no vocals and they saved the best for last LILY WAS HERE with excellent non vocaling music with lite accoustic guitars and perfect saxaphone playing with a touch of soothing melody. My mothers into spiritual things mostly and she loves this pure moods mix of peacful music. I use to listen to this while I sleep I loved it but now I sleep with the fan on because I love to hear the sound of the fan while I sleep.

5 out of 5 stars New Age as a child? Really?.......2007-05-17

I must have been around six or seven when I came across this cd through the TV ads. I couldn't buy it myself but I loved the music. It wasn't until I was much older and borrowed it from the library did I remember how much I loved this. I uploaded some of the songs onto my computer, only because I had downloaded some of them already. I started listening to the other pure moods and it's still the same.

Flowing music between ambient, new age, and soft electronica it pulls up its own forrest of emotion as it pulls you closer into the center of yourself. YOu find those pieces of you again that you haven't discovered. A must have for anyone wanting to get in touch with themselves, or just don't know how to relax after a hard day at work.

5 out of 5 stars The Sway.......2007-05-16

I must admit, I've always felt kind of silly for owning this CD. Yet it's got wonderful songs on it. Each one sets a tone that carries you throughout. I've had this CD for years and I still pull it out and listen to it.

The songs"Sailing"and "Never Gonna Let You Go"are worth the price of the entire album itself!!I listen to"Sailing"and nearly fall asleep, just envisioning, spending an entire summer, escaping lifes' hardships'sailing peacefully, through the Great Lakes, watching the sun glistening, off the waters' surface...."Never Gonna Let You Go"is a beautifully INTENSE and heartfelt love song!!Sergio actually takes a backseat(in my eyes)to whoever that husky/sexy-voiced woman is that he's singing with/to!!! This song is so"alive"with sincere passion, that I routinely play it at LEAST 7 times each day!!Actually the ENTIRE album is WONDROUS,so,I simply expounded on my two FAVORITES!!Everybody should own this disc!!When you get it,you can basically break of the "forward"button on your disc player, while you're playing this gem, cause it's HIT after HIT from the first track to the last!!

I've been searching for a CD to add to my collection of all those love songs that I remember from middle and high school. My favorite song on this CD is Sergio Mendez' Never Gonna Let You Go, which was the first song I ever slow danced to as a teenager. If you are looking for a single CD to bring you back to a time when you had your first slow dance, your first kiss, or your first girlfriend/boyfriend, then this one is for you.

Naxos is obviously excited about this recording, publicizing it widely and issuing it in three different formats (this plain CD, as well as SACD and DVD Audio). You can understand the excitement immediately, as the Symphony opens with tremendous power, fortified by uncommon energy in the kettledrums, signifying that there's going to be no routine playing here. But Alsop is not all aggression; her Andante sostenuto is very tender and affecting. Detail work is just wonderful--listen, for example, to the gorgeous flute solo in the fourth movement introduction--and Brahms's syncopations, always a major aspect of his style, get their full due in this rhythmically alert performance. Both Overtures are vividly characterized, and the Academic Festival retains its humor more than usual. At this point there are so many Brahms recordings that no single one is going to satisfy all of our needs, but this recording is competitive with the best in artistic and sonic aspects. In price, it mops the floor with the competition. --Leslie Gerber

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars *Yawn*.......2007-05-06

There's far too much hype surrounding Alsop's Brahms. Maestra Alsop has supposedly spent incalculable hours studying Brahms' scores to find those precious new nuggets that have somehow escaped other conductors. With all that, I expected to hear new interpretive insights ... but there were none. With so many important recordings of the Symphony No. 1 already out there -- Wand, Tennstedt, Dorati, Stokowski and Toscanini to name just a few -- this recording becomes completely unnecessary.

3 out of 5 stars Bravo, a woman gets to record the Brahms First, but..........2006-07-01

It's great news that after generations of discrimination, a woman conductor is allowed to record the Brahms First. It's not so great that Marin Alsop is only middling good at it. This is not to write her off--Leonard Slatkin and Greard Schwarz are only middling good, too, and they are among the most recorded American conductors. In fact, if we put Alsop up against Americans who have given us Brahms Firsts, she looks pretty good, being exceeded only by Bernstein and Levine. Not bad.

The London Phil. plays vrey well, and Naxos gives us premium-price sonics for a bargain release. As to the interpretation, Alsop suffers from having no overarching conception. The first movement begins with an aggressively thumping timpani, preparing us for a driving interpretation, but a few bars later the rhythm slackens off, only to pick up and back off several more times. The easiest movement in the symphony is the second, which requires only a passionate, sustained line. Alsop doesn't seem to know how to set one; again you feel that she's pushing and pulling without much purpose.

The Scherzo is gently conceived, an unusual approach but not a bad idea given the sturdiness of the other movements. But Alsop has a hard time getting the music to build as gloriously as it should. The finale is a difficult movement for conductors to judge. My preference is for it to sound titanic and triumphant. Alsop doesn't go that way. Her opening Adagio is remakrably slack. As for the body of the movement with its famous tune, she strings one bar after another without any structural build.

In all, a Brhams First that earns the faint praise of being pleasant. One has to quesiton the staying power of Alsop as an artist who is ready to lead the world's great orchestras. But as a pioneer she deserves only praise.

2 out of 5 stars I wish I could get excited over this CD.......2005-09-18

Alsop has recently been appointed music director of the Baltimore Symphony. A lot has been made of this because she is a she. I think she is a good conductor and quite capable. But, I feel there is little "magic" in what she does. This Brahms 1st is clean and well played but there is none of the drama and individuality that you find in versions by Karajan or Walter.I hope that Alsop will be judged based on her music making and not her gender. I also hope she is successful in Baltimore. And, yet, as evidenced by this recording and others of her's I have heard, I think the jury is still out.

3 out of 5 stars An average performance quite distant from greatness.......2005-09-13

Marin Alsop is now probably the most-recorded woman conductor ever, having churned out regular CDs and having had her photo appear on the cover of most high circulation classical music magazines. For all the buzz about her, she demonstrates no individual trait that separates her from the crowd other than being the most well known female conductor in a man's profession.

Here she is equipped with one of the world's 10 best orchestras and takes on repertoire that puts her in direct competition with every conductor in history including the great, near great and mediocre conductors of the recording era. Based on the evidence presented on this CD, I do not believe she is up to that task.

Her performance of the Symphony No. 1 starts well with timpani supporting the downstrokes in the opening theme, making a clear statement about the serious message to come. However, things soon go awry as a too big timpani stroke clouds the picture during a bad changeover to the exposition.

Alsop next uses an ineffective contrivance that she repeats throughout this recording. She takes the quieter music much more slowly than the louder music, as if to say quiet equals slow and loud equals fast. She does this over and over throuhgout the symphony.

While this can enhance the music when handled like light and shade, Alsop's approach is more like black and white. It lacks subtlety and leads to more of a stop and go approach. Instead of enhancing the experience, it gets in the way. For me, this constant tinkering with pulse and motion is an annoyance.

Alsop fruitlessly takes the exposition repeat in the first movement, saying nothing more than, "Here is the music again." While composers add repeats to elongate their music and follow structural design, recreators are required to interpret repeats differently, to say something different with the same music when doing it a second time. Alsop does nothing more than repeat the music at the same speed and with the same accents. What's the point?

In addition, the playing of the London Philharmonic is not uniformly the best I've heard from that group during the dramatic first movement. There is little that is excellent in the second movement, as the wonderful clarinet interplay is -- like the rest of this performance -- good but not great. The violin and horn solos and duo are better at the end, although the violin is probably too meaty for this gentle music.

Alsop overinterprets the second movement "Andante Sostenuto", which translates to "at a sustained walking pace." Like most conductors, she takes the second movement as an adagio. The marking is more akin to what goes on at the beginning of the third movement, where Alsop leads an inspired reading and does her best work in the symphony.

The dramatic closing movement begins without ornaments from the strings, a mistake in my opinion. The following pizzicato is almost silent, a contrast in keeping with Alsop's differential speeds in the opening movement. There is frankly too much contrast here for the whole to be effective. In addition, there is more poor playing as the timpani doesn't quite match the orchestral downstrokes as it did in the first movement.

Alsop again fidgets with tempo in the quieter sections of the closing movement, then doesn't slow down for the descending scales at about 11 minutes, where a slower tempo would indeed be effective. She hustles right through this section as she does all the louder moments. A nice finish is not enough to save this performance from all its prior shortcomings.

The "Tragic" overture that follows has all the fingerprints of her work in the symphony. Alsop leads a highly nuanced and extremely well played version of the "Academic Festival" overture to close the CD. So this CD begins and ends well but, unfortunately, the 60 minutes in between is not performed at such a high level.

Even with modern DDD recording at Naxos's very inexpensive price, this is not an essential purchase for anyone other than fans of the conductor. You can pay about the same money on this Web site and get much better performances by Walter and Karajan (to name only two) that will give more lasting pleasure over a long term.

My favorite recording of this music continues to be the 1962 recording by Karel Ancerl and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, last seen linked to a bad mono performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 1. I highly recommend that performance to anyone that wants to hear a dramatic realization of the Brahms Symphony No. 1.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but..........2005-04-28

The benchmark recordings of Brahms' first symphony for me are: Furtwangler's 1952 BPO live (DG), Karl Bohm's 1959 recording with BPO(DG), Bruno Walter's 1952 NYPO account (Sony), Christoph von Dohnanyi's Cleveland recording(Teldec), and Takashi Asahina's 2000 live with New Japan Philharmonic(Fontec). Alsop's un poco sostenuto beginning is appropriately grand with powerful strokes of timpani adding to the impact. The tempo shift as the movement enters the allegro proper is nicely executed. Perhaps the movement lacks the kind of urgent tension that marks Karl Bohm's account but Alsop scores by keeping the exposition repeat intact, which I think is essential in this symphony to maintain the overall proportion and impact. The middle movements are also nicely done. My only complaint is that the tension slightly slackens in the last movement as if the conductor and orchestra were struggling to keep the music afloat. The lead-in to the alphorn theme sounds a bit pedestrian while the famous "big theme" is played rather too slowly, thus robbing the music of its forward momentum. Too bad when the preceding movements are so well played. But the closing pages are unerringly executed as the famous brass chorale sings out its victorious joy. The recorded sound is very good if not top-notch. In sum, this latest offering is in no way bad and almost as good as the Kertesz/VPO but clearly falls behind the benchmark recordings mentioned above.

A collection of well-known pop tunes, this record documents those ubiquitous tracks that have been played into the ground at nearly every sports facility in the country. Most, like "Whoomp! There It Is" and "Hip Hop Hooray," are undeniably catchy, and other tracks were downright splendid when they first appeared on the scene. Some even credit "Pump Up the Volume" with being a breakthrough for the electronic music scene of the late '80s and early '90s. Still, bringing musical innovation to light is not what the makers of this recording had in mind. It's all about the trashy glitz, fleeting glories, and mindless greed of late-20-century American sports. Revel in its dubious charms, and risk having your brains turn to mush while a permanent grin takes over your face. --Matthew Cooke

5 out of 5 stars A trip back..........2007-05-05

I first heard this mix only very recently, in a long cab ride, and begged begged the driver to let me buy the disc from him. He refused, but let my friend run into his apartment and upload it into his iTunes. I have since bought the disc, and love it soooo much. It's upbeat, loads of fun, yes, great for cleaning the house to. But really, it brings me back to the days of middle school, going to school dances and buying cassette singles with my friends on the weekends...just being care-free and being a kid. I had been feeling nostalgic for those days lately and this disc captures my youth perfectly!

5 out of 5 stars Great for Fitness Classes.......2007-01-26

I'm a PE teacher and my students LOVED doing circuit training to this CD. Every song is super upbeat. It really helped get my classes motivated. I wouldn't buy this CD for general listening music but for fitness it's definitely my favorite.

5 out of 5 stars Whooooooooooomp! Here's the review!.......2005-12-20

Tell-Tale Bonanza's back again!! I'm a total jock if you already didn't know, my resume speaks for itself. This cd is not only great for sporting events, but works well at any social gathering. There's just something that is beautiful about seeing Lupus Fury do the tootsie roll. Let me tell you a little bit about Lupus Fury. You may be wondering how he got such a nick-name, well let me break it down for you... Lupus- is latin for "Wolf" and we all know that he's hairy like a wolf, and stinks like the Cumberland river. Fury- anger, violence, rage. that sums him up right there, the man has 8 restraining orders, and is a registered sex offender (we still laugh about that to this day) So now we know Lupus, a hairy wolf like angered man, don't get near him during a full moon either, he might hump your leg, but he gets more action than teen wolf (thanks to me). Our parties are just a big spectacle, we really do put on a show. When the song "You're Unbelievable oh!!!" comes on,Big Frank will put on a gymnastic routine that will leave you wondering why he wasn't on the olympic squad in 96 (steroids). Chubby Lou is in charge of running the party (there's never a shortage of cheap booze and hot pockets) and doubles as the bouncer, you don't wanna catch one of his famous DDT's, little-known fact, Chubby Lou used to be an amature wrestler (they said he was too fat) and had a stint as Barry Horrowitz tag team partner in 88. Cheese Grits doesn't really have any talent, we just thought he had a cool name so we let him in the clique, but he can juggle, so we get him tanked up and make him juggle by the end of the cd we circle around him and sing along to gary glitters "duh nuh nuh nuh nuh HEY!!! duh nuh nuh nuh!!!!" and so on, he has a look of terror on his face, but it's totally worth it. by that time we settle in, and there's about a 10-3 girl to guy ratio, some of us score real big, whoever is lucky enough to make it to my room, gets to personally here "Gonna make you sweat" by C & C Music Factory. Now that you see the power that this cd holds, I hope you would go and buy it (or steal it from your P.E. teacher, like I did).

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Love This CD.......2007-01-12

I am in my late 30's and grew up listening to these songs. Love them, a must have for all you who grew up listening to the songs. Reminds me of special times.

1 out of 5 stars Second rate commercial pap will always suck........2006-01-09

It doesn't matter when or where the music comes from, if its characterised by dull chord progressions, hackneyed lyrics and lousy production it will never stand the test of time. The songs in this compilation will NEVER NEVER make the grade. I grew up in the eighties, and this collection of truly awful radio hits is testimony to the conservatism that characterised programming at this time. Images of overweight realtors and shopping mall managers twisting and frooging to this dreck at their local beer barn permeate my tortured consciousness. Thank God Nirvana and other bands with integrity came along and changed all that.

5 out of 5 stars 80s hits .......2005-12-31

ill probably still be listening to 80s hits when im 80 yrs old. this decade generated some of the greatest songs of all time.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent collection of some overlooked '80s hits.......2005-04-11

I've had this CD for 4 years and still love it! I like the green packaging, for neon colors were so common in the '80s. There are some songs here that were hits, but surprisingly overlooked or only peaked in the teens, 20s or 30s of the pop charts. There are some others that did go top 10 or No. 1. I still love Lessons In Love by Level 42, a song I liked in the summer of 1987 and still do today. I still like Johnny Hates Jazz's wonderful Shattered Dreams. Duran Duran's Notorious and The Power Station's Some Like it Hot add some funk to this album. But one '80s song on here was one I got to hear for the very first time--The Plimsouls' A Million Miles Away from 1983. It sounds quite good and original for them. The ones by Rick Springfield, Glass Tiger, Asia and others are still superb on here. One rare surprise is the kicking opener of Simple Minds' Don't You Forget About Me and its extended version of 6:32. They extended some sections of the intros, bridges and other parts to the original song to make it longer. This album smartly acknowledges some of the most underrated songs and hits of the '80s and does it well for 77 minutes!

5 out of 5 stars Only In The Movie...NOW on CD!.......2005-02-08

What was once only available on a 12" vinyl single and the "actual" soundstrip...not soundtrack...of the film, "The Breakfast Club", "Pure 80's Hits" now boasts the FULL version of Simple Minds, "Don't You Forget About Me"! Yes indeed...after all these years! To the "average" household listener of 80's music, he or she may not even tell the slightest bit of difference...and not even care...but to true collectors of that decade's gems, this CD has that "hard-to-find" full-length version of that Simple Minds signature song. Listen! The first 15 seconds is VASTLY different than the cut-up version that gets played on all those homogenized-sounding, 80's flash-back radio programs...not to mention, the "extra" verse in the middle of the song, with a complete set of alternate lyrics! So for this...and this reason only...I give the CD FIVE big stars!
