About the Artist
Gurufish is a kaliedescopic blend of pop, funk and soul. Drawing from an incredibly diverse range of influences, this multi-dimensional ensemble has a magnetism that makes them appealing to a wide variety of audiences. Irrisistible melodies that sound at once fresh and familiar are grounded in solid funk grooves and sprinkled with psychedelic twists and soulful jazz. Created by singer/ songwriter/ producer Jimmy Northup and accompanied by DeWitt Ellis on bass, Matt Little on guitar, Ian Canalis on guitar and keys, Steve Dixon on drums, Jeff Gaines on sax and Slick on backing vocals, Gurufish makes their home in Atlanta, GA.
Product Description
A stunningly provocative blend of pop, funk, and soul. Irrisistible melodies and hypnotic grooves coalesce into songs that are both accessible and sophisticated. There's a cosmic sexuality to this album that seems to enter the listener's consciousness almost indirectly; as if it were being whispered or insinuated between the notes.
My instant fave upon my first listen was "Emotion" but then there's "World Called Groove," "Nelida," "Soul Treaty"... man, I love it. If you can appreciate a new sound and artists who are into music for the sake of music, give this a chance. At the risk of sounding like a commercial, I recommend Atlanta area folks to be on the lookout for a show. It will be worth it!
