About the Artist
mike morello is a connecticut born singer/songwriter on the cafe scene. his music, a blend of jazz and pop, is rooted in many influences, however he has come up with a fresh sound that is packing connecticut coffee houses. "i get so many of my lyrics and much of my vibe from events and experiences throughout my life since then. I listen to everything from r&b to techno and even took classical lessons for a year. i try to use all the pieces to make the music real and to make it mine. sometimes the music just writes itself and i let it come out. those are the best songs anyway." morello began writing for the album 'leisure' when he was in london in 2002. "I was with my friend dom and we sat down to write a song as a joke which i turned into 'blank' on the cd. it turned out to be pretty fun and people really liked it. i realized how to play and sing at the same time and haven't stopped writing since." now, with a new album hitting retail and online stores, mike says,! "i write what i feel and hope people dig it. i hope they can connect to it in some way. i won't write it if i haven't been through it. if i did, it wouldn't be real and i wouldn't feel it and neither would my audience. there are some great things going on in music right now. some great musicians are being recognized for their work, some of whom i hope to someday work with. the local indie scene is really supportive and loyal. i am really excited about the new cd. we have worked really hard on it and i have learned quite a bit about myself as a person and as a musician during the process." it doesn't end here of course. mike has written an entire second album worth of new material that he is already working with in the studio and getting the feel for live. playing out live is really were he feels the real music is; "it's where i can really feel it, and i do that as much as i can. i am not on a label yet, but i don't want to keep it that way. my music grows everyday. thanks! for listening. i hope you all enjoy listening to it half as much as i enjoy making it"

Product Description
The album "leisure" is mike morello's first release. mike is a southern Connecticut, New York City area singer/songwriter. The album is a showcase of morello's various talents of vocals, musical arrangements, guitar playing and, above all, song writing. In "leisure," listeners can enjoy songs with diverse influences from jazz and blues to soul and rock, yet throughout, morello shows a distinct style all his own that shines through each track. The album will leave you singing along with fantastic hooks like those in "a-oh, "blank," "wound up," "diggin’ on you" and "tides." Songs like "skyline" and "right kind of lame" will have you feeling like you just stepped out of a New York City jazz club and you’ll get to see morello’s edgier side with tracks like "real life," "half of it," "is what it is," and "told you so." The album has its romantic side as well with songs such as "all the way," "new view," and "everything dream." Whatever your mood, mike morello provides and he provides from the soul.

It's reported that Supreme Beings of Leisure emerged when a rap group called Oversoul 7 added a singer named Geri Soriano-Lightwood. Yet the band's laid-back dance grooves sound all of a piece, as if they'd played together for years. There's no messy merging of disparate styles, no rude sound shifts that occur when young bands search for their sound. Instead, this is a professionally buffed production. Though the three instrumental members all share programming duties and the music is certainly heightened by a liberal use of special space-age effects, the music is far more rooted in traditional soul-ballad and pop-rock writing than apparent on first listen. Tracks such as "Golddigger" and "Strangelove Addiction" borrow their hooks from the pop-rock dictionary, no matter how futuristic the desires. It might be another case of style over substance. Or maybe the band needs to transcend their professionalism and really get down to some scary stuff. --Rob O'Connor

5 out of 5 stars Supremely Excellent.......2007-07-30

This CD is one of my all-time faves. In fact, Track 3 ("Last Girl on Earth") was my theme song in 2004. The album art is exactly what this CD is about: too cool for school, absolutely fab and groovy. Lounge meets electronica for a perfect 10.

4 out of 5 stars Better the second time around.......2007-01-10

Sometimes music doesn't grab you the first go around or other musical tastes are more interesting at the time and a disc gets displaced from your rotation. Such was the case with this disc. I lost it and didn't redicover it for years and since then I have been enjoying these cool sounds that are part 60's r&b, part stylish-pop for a refreshing synthesis of trip-hop creation; it is James Bond meets Austin Powers on a grey blue urban landscape while Shirley Bassy's voice breaks through the chilly air. The atmospheric effects and programming coupled with the fusion of sitar and guitars is a nice space age goes retro result. Very cool songs include "Strangelove Addiction" that has a pop-trip-hop goes to the disco groove,"You're always the Sun" that has quirky beats set to the smooth vocals of Geri Soriano-Lightwood and the catchy, "Golddigger," that is pure soul at the club circa 1960 fastforward to 2007.A good disc to discover again the second time around or for the very first time. This is mellow yet strightforward trip-hop British soul for your senses.

5 out of 5 stars This is how the cool cat 60s should have sounded.......2007-01-01

Taking the lounge style music of mid to late 60s and making it better than it ever hoped to be: Of the 30 second sound tracks from the album Amazon has listen to "Golddigger", "Last Girl On Earth", "Nothin' Like Tomorrow", and "Under The Gun" to get a real sense of what this album is delivering. The lyrics match the style of music perfectly, the female lead voice is smooth, the music is creative electronic tinge lounge and dancefloor; the whole package is right on target. This is one of the few albums that when I copied it to my iPod I left every track in. Very Cool, with a capital C.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely fabulous!.......2006-02-26

If life were fair, this band's song "Gold Digger" would be right at the top of the charts, and even more popular than Kanye West's song of the same name.

There isn't a lame song on here, which is something that you can't say for many albums these days. Simply the best!

5 out of 5 stars The best CD i've ever heard!!!.......2005-07-22

When I first heard "Gold Digger" and "Under The Gun" on Dish Network's EuroStyle station back in 2000, I instantly fell in love with Supreme Beings of Leisure. Luckily a friend and I went to a Borders book store in St. Louis, and they had 2 copies of this CD. I wasn't disapointed, in fact, this is now my favorite CD, topping even Nirvana's classic "Nevermind".

Geri has silky smooth vocals that fit perfectly with the synth. Sexy, sultry, and smooth describes Supreme Beings of Leisure, and NEVER boring. I've heard there 2nd CD "DoS" and its not nearly as good as there 1st. I'm hoping their 3rd upcoming CD sounds more like this one (the first).

Blur's debut album, this CD features none of the quirky songwriting and social observation of British life that would earn singer Damon Albarn rave reviews, comparing him to the Kinks' Ray Davies and the Who's Pete Townshend. However, as a debut Leisure has plenty of spunk and appealing naiveté. This is a very Manchester-inspired affair, motivated by the dance-hall shuffle and lysergic shimmering of the Happy Mondays. Lyrics exist merely as something to hang the pretty harmonies on. First-rate pop hooks drive songs such as "She's So High" and "There's No Other Way," while waves of wah-wah guitar and solid organ represent the trippier aspects of the band's sound for "I Know" and "Bad Day," among others. --Rob O'Connor

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars A beginning..........2006-11-05

Compared to the last cd Blur released, you almost can't tell it's the same band. I bought this mainly to complete my collection, I can't honestly say that I listen to it on a daily basis. But I gave it 3 stars because in its time, it was interesting, and it is a good, not great start for a great band.

4 out of 5 stars Two ridiculously infectious reasons..........2006-09-18

Ignore all the hype and mis/preconceptions about Blur's early work and buy this album for two excellent reasons: "She's So High", a wonderfully addictive slice of guitar-driven, echo-laden atmosphere, and "There's No Other Way", an amazing mix of choppy, syncopated beats overlaid with perfect Syd Barrett vocals that's, without question, the most exciting track to come out of the whole "Britpop" era. Like the Stone Roses at their peak, both are infused with the infectious enthusiasm of the "60s" transformed into something that's so much better. Brilliant...

4 out of 5 stars Blurs starts with a strong foot forward.......2006-05-28

Blur's debut back in 1991 brought along a blend of psychedelic rock and heavy guitars not too far from the sound of The Stone Roses or The Smiths. Though not too welcome by critics, as being too much like shoegazing (a musical trend that was on its way out), in recording "Leisure", along with Charlatan's U.K. and a handful of other bands, they led the way of a new British invasion (labeled Britpop) that would last for many years.

With a very different sound from the one that would characterize the band later on, they started off with a strong foot forward, actually opening the album with the best tracks on it, most of which remain classics to this day. The middle part of the album looses a bit of steam, to regain it towards the end. Overall, it's not Blur's best work, but it's an incredible debut to be reckoned with. Indeed most bands would want to ever record an album this good.

4 out of 5 stars A blissful album of idiot glee.......2006-03-30

Yeah its true folks the Amazon reviewer was absolutely correct in that the lyrics are simply something to hang the pretty melodies on and the music is nowhere near as sophisticated as Blur would later write, but... and its a big but. Blur never again made an album this unabashedly joyful and ecstatic again. Mix great melodies, dumb dumb simple but very singable lyrics, lovely vocal harmonies strapped on top of a driving guitar with compelling and dancable rhythms and you have this rolling explosion of brit-pop bliss. Sometimes an album doesn't have to mean anything to be good.

3 out of 5 stars Before they figured out who they were.......2006-01-14

Leisure was Blur finding their feet and it was better than competent style copping of the time. I quickly blew this album off as being disposable and had decided Blur would probably head the way of other bands riding Manchester's coattails... nowhere. So, I skipped Modern Life is Rubbish out of post Leiseure indifference, but discovered at Parklife, through my sister, that Blur was really rocketing past any accusations I could level of being pure imitators. They were writing smart songs with great music. They've pretty much outlasted any British band that I've liked in terms of staying power and importance. I think they are pretty much the closest thing to The Beatles in this sense. So, Leisure is just a childish first step into the world of britpop and by no means bad, but it's probably best to start at Modern Life is Rubbish and move on from there.

Heavy with lounge atmosphere, but still only subtle tweaks away from dance floor nirvana, Supreme Beings of Leisure's sophomore effort has it both ways, laying down smart rhythms in a record that grooves slow and steady like a spy on a stakeout. Less self-consciously multicultural, Divine Operating System is more sure-footed than their self-titled debut, which too often sounded like Morcheeba lite. SBOL's members are a diverse group, with members hailing from Japan, Iceland, Puerto Rico, Iran, and elsewhere, but their debut was so smooth and so familiar, it didn't sound as authentic as it should have. Divine has a not entirely original feel to it as well, given the deluge of Latin and lounge-flavored dance records that have come along since downtempo took off in the late '90s. Still, while not terribly innovative, tracks like "Divine" and "Touch Me" have a fitting R&B aesthetic and a genuine thump. The Eastern-inspired touches that made their debut such a smooth collection surface occasionally, giving slower tracks like "Rock and a Hard Place" a higher bliss quotient. But another record's worth of practice has yielded more authoritative songs, and while it doesn't have a "Strangelove Addiction" on it, the agreeably narcotic effect of the music here withstands repeated listening quite nicely. --Matthew Cooke

5 out of 5 stars Leisurely Funk.......2007-02-12

The Supreme Beings of Leisure flaunt fly-by-night funk and sexy disco sleaze on this, their sophomore album. They've lost a couple members since their self-titled debut, and their sound has a little less grit, but their groove isn't hurt at all by their new slippery slink. If anything, the spirit is the same, resulting in another stellar collection of sly and sassy ballroom lounge.

Sprinkled with Middle Eastern flair and heady with pumping, big-band-beats, songs like "Give Up" and "Get Away" give the album its thumping pulse. Waltz-inspired and blooming with bass, songs like "Catch Me" and "Freezer" give the album its sleek, sultry spirit. Fill in the gaps with candle-lit rhythms ("Calamity Jane"), up-tempo gloom ("Ghetto"), and jazzy electronica ("Touch Me") and you've got a wickedly sensual and soul-hearty album that's worth the price of admission.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful and brainy.......2006-01-05

This CD is fantastic. I love every track on the album; when was the last time every track on a CD was great?

The music is instrumentally creative, very danceable, zippy but with intelligent lyrics, a little angsty, and very sexy. I'm not a musicologist, but if I had to come up with a phrase to describe what this album offers, I'd say "sensual funk lounge." A blend of world, 70s, sensual jazz, hip hop, lounge, and dance, the music on this album can't be stuffed into any one easy category. What this music can do is get your body moving. Be prepared to burn some calories when you put this one on.

4 out of 5 stars Very Enjoyable.......2005-08-15

First, I don't understand why so many reviews of this disc are negative possibly this record is too smart for a pedestrian audience? DOS is a beautiful record full of warmth, texture, and a solid blend of upbeat dance rythms and slow grooves. What's more, this is a very diverse record. At times I feel like I'm listening to updated 70's disco/funk, at other times, the record feels like Goldfrapp's 'Felt Mountain', or a Bond soundtrack, and then there are such gems as 'freezer' that make feel like I'm listening to something programed by Human League or OMD. A great record for both relaxing and dancing.

5 out of 5 stars Supreme Beings of Leisure- Album- Divine Operating System........2005-08-10

I have had this particular album for a few months now. I got it
imported from Los Angeles in May 2005 and to tell u the truth THIS ALBUM IS DA BOMB!!!!!!!!! This album has got a very seductive, tantalising, sway of unique beats. I have this album and also the Self titled album. I am really impressed how both albums compliment each-other with beautiful bass lines, SLINKY and twisted flavours to it as-well. My favourite song of all on Divine Operating System is ''TOUCH ME''. I love the female vocalist in this song because she adds carisma to this song by her voice. This song also has a very cabaret, slinky house, strutty, bar culture to it.I personally recommend this Album to any person who is in to Deep House, Lounge and Bar Cultured-type music.I am a fan of this artist all the way from Surfers Paradise, on the Gold Coast, In Australia. This album is a Must for the Club-Goer.

1 out of 5 stars You know it's bad when.......2005-07-31

The band members resort to writing their own reviews in order to get a few more "stars".
The glowing reviews are done mainly by publicists and friends of the band.
This band had a chance at greatness, but unfortunately something vile must have derailed them... mediocrity rears it's ugly head.
Get the debut album, it sounds like a different band

5 out of 5 stars GREAT.......2007-01-12

If you are into this type of thing then you will absolutely LOVE it.

3 out of 5 stars Decent Matrix Tribute.......2005-12-13

Animatrix - The Album opens very strongly with the scintillating, mellowing, "Who Am I?," "Big Wednesday," and "Blind Tiger." The electronic arrangements fit very well with the psychological mood of the world of the Matrix. Unfortunately, tracks four through twelve are not as strong. Tracks eleven and twelve include music and dialouge from the original film score: but it is just the same three or four lines by Neo and Morpheus repeated over and over. In Track eleven, "Red Pill, Blue Pill," the only spoken words are "take the red pill; take the blue pill" over and over, by an unknown voice (not Reeves or Fishburne) and some amateur mixing that sounds like a "do it yourself Party DJ Mixer Kit." If you are at a Rave, I suppose these last two tracks would be right up your alley.

4 out of 5 stars Good, but not great.......2005-09-08

This CD has some really excellent tracks, some OK ones, and some that make you scratch you head with "what-were-the-artists-thinking" kind of bewilderment. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the track Masters of the Universe (when the Kid is escaping the Agents on his skateboard), amazingly, is omitted. However, the first track (the "credits" music), Supermoves, and Conga Fury are great fun to listen to.
As for the genre itself, Trance seems to me to be the equivalent of classical music for our time. Some is good, some is bad, but it all gives you a sense of free-mind feel, without words or lyrics or pop influences mucking up the experience of the music itself. If that makes any sense...

5 out of 5 stars Somewhere around a 4.7.......2005-08-01

Nope... its not another unenjoyable rap or pop album. What I'm trying to get at is that its so, so sad that electronic music is not popular and deserves to be. Repeatable lovey-dovey pop and false rap is what mostly strikes listeners through the radio. Though I do understand electronic music is meant for mainstream listening and is meant to stay deep underground in the clubs, lets hope to see electronic music favored in the future.

Due to some great electronic tracks left out from the film, I did give the compilation a 4.5, but nonetheless, being a huge electronic/techno fan, is a very well done and not far from a masterpiece.

Most Favored Track:
"Beauty Never Fades"
"Martenot Waves"
"Under The Gun"
"Hands Around My Throat"
"Conga Fury"
& a few from the film that were sadly left out.

Jesse Winchester has made such a good living writing songs for the likes of Wynonna Judd, Emmylou Harris, and Reba McEntire that he doesn't really have to make his own albums. In fact, the revealingly titled Gentleman of Leisure is only his second album in 18 years. It was worth the wait, for it sounds like one of Lyle Lovett's late-1990s albums. There's the same dry, wry voice; the same weird mix of '40s swing, '60s R&B, and '70s progressive country; and the same conversational lyrics that seem casual at first but contain memorable aphorisms. Lovett's Texas sensibility is replaced, though, by Winchester's Memphis roots, which are reinforced by Steve Cropper's presence on songs about Elvis and a favorite soul-music club. Producer Jerry Douglas has also called in bluegrass guitar whiz Bryan Sutton, blues-guitar virtuoso Mike Henderson, country star Vince Gill, and gospel's Fairfield Four. Winchester's songwriting is the star attraction, though, thanks to music that marries hillbilly tunefulness to swampy Delta grooves and Zen lyrics that explore how love can strip us of pride and power and still make us strong. --Geoffrey Himes

5 out of 5 stars on "Worth it for 2 songs alone".......2006-10-14

He's right about the two songs: 'That's What Makes You Strong' and 'No Pride At All' will move you in mysterious ways - if you don't buy the album at least buy those two tracks. This man has unusual wisdom and wonderful songwriting ability. I was a huge fan of his first two albums 30 years ago - I am glad that his is still capable of great music. Yes, there are a few lightweight ditties on it, but overall it is so much better than most of what's out there... (therefore 5 stars). And his lead guitarist is Steve Cropper(!) Oh - how could I forget - 'Wander My Way Home' is the only song by a white guy on my person best Gospel mix - it is wonderful (with the Fairfield Four). There is a LOT to like here.

4 out of 5 stars Worth it for 2 songs alone.......2006-03-15

There are two songs on this album that are great: "No Pride at All" and "That's What Makes You Strong". The combination of powerful emotion with songwriting craft at its highest level result in stunning songs. I played "No Pride at All" for a friend of mine, a guy with a heavy metal background. (The song is very mellow instrumentally). It totally caught him off-guard; he literally broke down in tears. The next time he came over he said, "I want to hear my song". I put in on and left him alone in the living room.

"No Pride at All" is also very mellow instrumentally, but absolutely devastating emotionally. And "devastating" is the only word I can use to describe it.

The other songs vary from above average to good, but the presence of these two songs makes the album a must-buy, in my opinion.

This recording is just a wonder. I have owned this cd for about a year, and I cannot get enough of it--and it is rare nowadays for a record to have such an impact on me. I have bought it for at least three other friends and family members already. Take a listen, and you won't be able to stop either.

5 out of 5 stars A Larger Bit O'Heaven.......2007-07-26

This is a multi-CD version of my other purxhase that contains most of the rest of the songe on my LP. I have been looking for John McCormack on CD for years. I was thrilled when I found this and other CDs on Amazon. I have an LP that I bought decades ago and I have almost worn it out. The CD quality music is so much better!

5 out of 5 stars Mom loved it!.......2007-01-16

My Mom is 100% Irish and wanted a CD that contained Kathleen Mavourneen. She loved it, not just that song but all of them!

5 out of 5 stars Another World.......2005-06-25

It has been said that the real journey is not to travel to a thousand different countries but to see the world through a thousand different eyes. These songs are from an world none of us will ever be able to see. Ireland at the beginning of the twentieth century. I saw the end of it about twenty five years ago and even at that time, people were saying it would probably not last another ten years. If you want to be transported back in time try listening to these songs because they are beautiful.

4 out of 5 stars A classic live Deano with a caveat emptor.......2004-08-17

First remind yourself that you've purchased a live CD from 1964, so the sound quality isn't perfect but it should always have a *little* hiss when it's live, right?

Anyway....this is a fine example of Dean Martin playing his crowd while crooning some of his signatures. Here is my caveat: If you don't want to hear Dean deliver some of the same exact jokes (and even song arrangements) as he does on "The Rat Pack: Live at the Sands" Cd, then don't buy this CD.

But overall, I am happy I have it as any Rat Pack music is good music, and I figure it's OK for some of it to be repeated. He was probably drunk and forgot he told the same jokes :)

5 out of 5 stars The most entertaining album I have ever heard.......2003-08-06

This amazing live album gives us Dean Martin at his most entertaining best; no one worked a crowd like Dino, and this has to be the most entertaining album I have ever listened to in my life. The date is February 8, 1964, and the setting is the immortal Sands Hotel in Las Vegas; truly, to borrow a phrase from what is probably Dino's most well-known song, memories are made of this. Those looking for the world's greatest crooner's delivery of impeccably romantic love songs should look elsewhere, though, as this performance lives up to its subtitle: An Evening of Music, Laughter and Hard Liquor. Dean is in full character as the fun-loving, alcohol-consuming entertainer he portrayed so well, and there is probably more comedy than singing over the course of this 58+ minute performance. I believe only On a Slow Boat to China is sung without some kind of interruption or comedic break, and most of the songs feature Dino's own reshaping of the lyrics. Drink to Me Only and Bourbon From Heaven leave no doubt from the start that this show is about entertainment more than singing. After quasi-serious renditions of Memories Are Made of This and That's Amore, Dino launches into a monologue of almost seven minutes. The man is absolutely hilarious; he had me laughing heartily nonstop and the live audience rolling in the aisles. A few Bing Crosby jokes and stories about his family are big highlights here; my favorite joke has to be Dino's reference to his 74-year old mother-in-law, a remarkable woman who does not even need glasses at her age - she drinks straight from the bottle.

A lot of give-and-take with the band appears in Dino's cover of Bing's June in January, then after a terrific delivery of the song You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby, Dean goes back to pure comedy. More Laughs With Dean features another six and half minute monologue, in which Dean tells the audience he drinks because he is insecure and can't really believe he is Dean Martin and getting to do all these wonderful things he does, a statement that I think bears a lot of hidden truth. From there, we get a most extraordinary medley of "throw-away" comedy songs, as Dean gives his own unique, sometimes non-PC twist to some old, familiar songs. The "Pretty Songs" medley that follows is less than serious in and of itself, as is the medley of Dean's classic Volare and On An Evening in Roma. This is followed by almost ten minutes of hilarious dialogue, after which Dean wraps up the show with his closing theme of Mr. Wonderful.

As I said, if you want Dean's romantic ballads, you'll need to go to his studio recordings; there are only a limited number of moments in which Dean truly unleashes his uniquely powerful voice over the course of this performance. The sound quality, while good, is also far from perfect. There is just no fullness to the sound of the music or Dean's voice, but given the nature of this performance this is not the type of problem it would have been had Dino been crooning romantic ballads for an hour without taking a break (or a drink). This is vintage Dean Martin the entertainer, and he elicits more laughter from his audience than most successful comedians can even dream of. Rarely have I laughed so much and enjoyed a performance so completely as I did this historic recording of Dean Martin Live From the Sands.

3 out of 5 stars Good, Not Great.......2002-02-13

I just finished listening to this CD. And, as with all Dino CDs it put a smile on my face. I did enjoy it but the sound is definitely not as good as "The Rat Pack: Live at The Sands" or the live medley segment from the double disc "The Capitol Years". The sound quality is somewhat muddled, not like the clear, crystalline sound of the Rat Pack disc. Had I heard this disc initially, I probably would have given it 4 stars, but hearing the Rat Pack CD first, this was almost a let down. The material is virtually the same, so for the extra money, you get much better sound, a more energetic Dean and a livelier show, not to mention Frank and Sammy. This CD is mainly for the real fan (which I am one) and for completists.

5 out of 5 stars This is Dino!.......2001-09-25

I was privilaged to attend two of Deans shows in Vegas. This is truley a reproduction of one of those preformances. Dean was there to make you have a good time and not take anything too serious. I always had a battle with myself over Dean being funny with songs and how good the songs were, even as he made jokes with them. Dino was so good he fooled many people. Was he a singer, actor, dancer or comedian? Dean may not have even understood how much talent he had himself. This album is a good time.

4 out of 5 stars Impressive packaging & sound quality, as heard on "Sopranos".......2001-08-01

I have long searched for a decent live recording of Dean Martin's Vegas act from the 60's and this is it. When I purchased this CD for less than ten bucks, I was expecting it to be of poor recording quality and too short. Boy was I wrong. The packaging and CD label is done in artful color with nice portraits of Dean against a backdrop of the bar at the old Sands in Vegas. The liner notes give a decent overview of Dean's marvelous career right up until his untimely death on Christmas Day 1995.

The sound on the CD is suprisingly good. Dean's voice can be heard loud and clear, with the band and his pianist, Ken Lane, quieter, but audible in the background. In sound quality, it is akin to, but not quite as good as "The Summit in Concert" (another live nightclub recording of the Rat Pack).

This is Dean's complete nightclub act recorded on February 8, 1964 and captures the essence of the Rat Pack era. Several celebrities are in the crowd that Dean introduces at the end of the show (Keely Smith, Loren Greene among others). This CD also gives you far more of Dean's comedy monologue than any other Dean Martin CD out there.

I own 3 different CD's of Frank, Dean and Sammy performing together (2 from the Villa Venice shows in Chicago- "The Summit in Concert"; & "Rat Pack"; and one unauthorized, bootleg recording of a show done in Atlantic City). What is striking to me is how the act is almost exactly the same in every show-- same gags, same jokes done at the same points in the show, same tunes with the same changed comical lyrics. It's no wonder that Dino grew tired of this bit and backed out of the "Together Again Tour" in 1989. Despite this, Dean's solo performance of this act is funnier than when Frank & Sammy are on the scene. Dean's easygoing comic delivery and great timing make the same tired jokes seem funny again. This is definetly worth the purchase. Don't let the nominal retail price scare you away-- this is a CD you'll love as much (or more than) as the ... "Summit in Concert" CD put out by Tina Sinatra's "Artanis" label.

Apparently the directors of the HBO hit series "The Sopranos" also appreciate this recording because it is featured in the final episode of the 2002 season. Tony Soprano, separated from his wife and on the verge of divorce, moves out of the house and sleeps on his yacht docked just off the shore of an annoying attorney's backyard...all through the night he sits on his boat drowning his sorrows while blasting Dino's lounge act from the boat's speakers...much to the chagrin of the sleepless attorney and his wife! It's a riot!

Jump on this, Dino fans...we've waited long enough...

While Sugar Ray have reunited with longtime producer David Kahne, after their brief romance with Don Gilmore on 2001's self-titled album, they haven't returned to their party-on roots. Kahne has added some sophisticated flourishes to their sound, which seems to weigh them down. The cinematic string intro on "Chasing You Around," is a little top heavy. The strings on "Can't Start," a simple breezy gem about lost love, are equally incongruent. While the dense soundscape Kahne creates for the "Mr. Bartender (It's So Easy)" makes sense, adding a hip-hop back beat, jazzy piano, and background chatter gives the tune the same anthemic quality as Pink's "Get This Party Started." Mark McGrath singing seems a little too tame for the crazy mix. McGrath does a not- perfect rendition of Joe Jackson's "Is She Really Going Out with Him," and doesn't change a thing, which is unusual for the singer, who usually doesn't like to play it that safe. These bawdy Peter Pans of rock are more appealing when they summon their innate raunchy power, instead of coming off like a 2003 version of the Beach Boys with the sand washed off. --Jaan Uhelszki

    Album Description

One of the most eagerly anticipated releases of Summer 2003! The album sees the band blending a wide variety of sounds - including summery island rhythms, funky hip hop grooves, and infectious 80s-inspired melodies - into their own uniquely characteristic pop/rock cocktail. Featuring the first single 'Mr. Bartender (It's So Easy)'. The CD is also enhanced with the bonus video for 'Mr. Bartender (It's So Easy)'. Atlantic.

5 out of 5 stars Sugar Ray did not sell out.......2004-07-15

For those of you who think Sugar Ray sold out your wrong. When you've been a band for 15 yrs you begin to mature, and it shows in their music. With ITPOL they have become very versital. You get the hip hop dance sound to Mr Bartender. the bluesy rock sound of In Through the Doggie Door, the reagge sound of 56 Hope Road, to the soft scentual side of Heaven. Plus the Cover of Is She Really Going Out With Him because Sugar Ray tries to put a cover on almost every cd. Even though its already a year old I would still recommend this cd.

5 out of 5 stars In The Pursuit Of Leisure.......2004-05-11

You fans have got to be kidding. This is the best Sugar Ray stuff I have ever heard. The reason most people have a hard time with this last album is because now the band have a strong melody to every song they produce. The only problem is whenever I see them live they do not do any of their original songs from this album except Mr. Bartender (Mr. DJ). You can whistle every toon from start to finish. The melodies going on in the songs would rival the Beatles. Yes the Beatles! Hey punk is good but when you leave a song and it still stays with all day,man that is writing. .
    4. Bring Me the Head Of... Led Zepplin Reference.
    5. Mr. Bartender (It's So Easy) - Great opening riff.

    12. Blues From A Gun Reminds me of the White ALbum.

Not a bad song on the album. I bought this cd when it first came out and it is still on my machine almost a year later. Longevity is the key for music, it holds up very well.

    1 out of 5 stars Pathetic.......2004-04-11

This album is just sad.Sugar ray have always been a guilty pleasure of mine and i'v had no problem admitting I liked them...until now. This album is a big joke piriod. It lacks the maturity of the self titeld and the catchy pop rock of 14:59.Sugar ray tryed to sell out and make bubbelgum pop with this release and faid misurably.
