Editorial Reviews
Hip Hop has been anticipating something new. In an industry watered down with fictitious tales of street life and material overindulgence, Word of Mouth emerges. Raised in the suburbs of Long Island, New York, a child not of the streets, but of the old school, he found his love for Hip Hop music at a very young age.
Now, at age twenty-six, the beats are more sophisticated and the rhymes are more refined, but the mentality is still the same; emotional poetry dropped with precision rhythm.
"Hip Hop is a big place. There's room for all sorts of subject matter. But to me, other than the small handful of gifted poets out there, the majority of the mainstream seem to be saying the same old things over and over again."
Word of Mouth focuses on the feelings and experiences of regular everyday people. When this rapper speaks, everyone can relate.
"I'm not concerned with 'emcee credibility'. For me it's pretty simple. I just wanna make music that people wanna listen to. Everyone feels pain, jealousy, humor, lust etc. I think my content will touch a wide audience. I want people who never listen to rap to be like 'I really like this song'."
He doesn't look like the common emcee, and he doesn't act like the common emcee. But when he raps, the result is an authentic picture, painted with words from the mouth.
Product Description
A sharp mix of contemplative content and silly humor with a sound that is largely a diversion from the mainstream, Word of Mouth's self produced debut album attempts to give us a look at hip hop from a slightly different angle. In the absence of anger, violence and street talk, we get a look into the mind of the common man, armed with nothing but a pen a pad and a microphone.
