Louise Pitre, star of the ABBA musical Mamma Mia! that opened on Broadway in 2001, makes her solo debut with this thoughtful, wide-ranging cabaret album. All of My Life Has Led to This encompasses musical theater (Kander and Ebb's "A Quiet Thing"), a song based on Chopin ("To Love Again"), and the inevitable ABBA ("Slipping Through My Fingers" and "The Winner Takes It All," which is transformed from perfect pop into an art song when encored in the singer's native French). Also in French are a couple of Pitre originals, "A Notre Tour" and "Le Ciel Est Bleu." This is no ingénue, but a mature, burnished voice that lets the emotion of "An Affair to Remember" ring. And even if the Canadian star became an "overnight" U.S. sensation after a 20-year stage career, when she sings the title tune, it's with satisfaction and not a trace of irony. --David Horiuchi
Product Description
In ALL OF MY LIFE HAS LED TO THIS, Pitre weaves a melodic patchwork by crossing musical generations to display her vast range of musical ability. First, she delivers a fiercely powerful Rock-a-Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody, then she offers a heart-wrenching interpretation of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus Slipping Through My Fingers which tells the story of a mother trying to accept the reality that her daughter no longer is a little girl. Also showcased in this eclectic collection are three songs sung in Pitres native French: Ya Rien a Voir, A Notre Tour and Le Ciel Est Bleu all telling the stories of love walking in and out of a womans life. Time and time again, Pitre has been heralded for her ability to expertly and convincingly tell a story through song. Pitre can pack an entire drama into a three-minute song, proclaimed NOW Magazine. She gift-wraps it like a piece of candy, and she always delivers a powerful payoff a hard center of sadness or a burst of sweetness with the words. In addition to the title track, other songs on the album include, An Affair to Remember, Kander and Ebbs A Quiet Thing, To Love Again (based on Chopins E Flat Nocturne, Op. 9, No. 2), If I Ruled the World, Limelight, and Love Letter.

Wonderful.......2004-10-30
A Star Is Born!.......2002-12-21
Louise has a powerful, sensual and unique voice, which works well both in ballads and more jazzy numbers. The entire cd is a delight, every song special in its own way, and the end result is pure magic. It's a mix of styles, yes, but they all fit in very nicely. You get a sense that she is as diverse as her choice of songs, and therefore, very interesting - This is a performer who is sure of herself and knows what she is worth. Now we know as well.
A few highlights- Her version of "Rock-a-Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody", which is an instant classic, simply wipes the floor with all the previous recordings (yes, even Garland's).
"Limelight" gets a heartfelt and heartbreaking treatment, giving us a glimpse into a perfromer's life which is extremely effective, coming from a mature, professional voice such as hers. The two ABBA songs are sung brilliantly, with a lot of raw emotion and a touch of the French Chanson, not to mention the French version of "The Winner Takes It All", which sounds like the song should have sounded all along. The songs in her native French are charming, especially the ones she composed herself, and definately made me want to learn the language! :)
I highly recommend this cd. You will surely be as enchanted as I was.
Not a winner by a long shot........2002-10-23
Finally Miss Louise Pitre.......2002-03-08
It is the listeners good fortune that we get to hear some songs in French as an added bonus. Hopefully it will give her some crossover appeal to Anglo and Francophone audience.
Her choice of material is very good and takes advantage of her vocal range and dynamics of song interpretation. She wisely chosens some ABBA songs for this recording to tie in with her appearance on Broadway.
An overall very satisfying and entertaining recording that I thankfully can recommend for everyone.
She's Perfect!.......2002-02-24
