As fans of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy know, each film exists in two versions: the theatrical one and the extended one that appeared on DVD. This luxurious box set--which also comes with a detailed essay on the movie's musical themes--features the full extended score, so many cues not on the CDs of the individual movies are included. Granted, the majority of listeners will be perfectly happy with the shorter versions of the scores--it's a safe bet that most people can live without hearing, say, Ian McKellen's 35-second-long ditty "The Road Goes Ever On" at the beginning of "Bag End," or Viggo Mortensen's performance of his own composition, "The Song of Lúthien," within the track "The Nazgûl." But if you're a completist and/or a devotee of Howard Shore's pounding tympani and overwhelming choral compositions (featured particularly prominently on disc 3, a large chunk of which is devoted to a battle scene), then this set is a dream come true. Beautiful.......2007-06-15

I picked up this set because I am both a LOTR fan, movies and books and I need music to help me work. There are some tracks that I skipped over, like the short little ditties in the bar, but many of the songs, such as the Elvish chants are easy to get lost in - its just too bad they don't last longer. The packaging really is well done, though the DVD disc was loose when I received it in the mail, but unharmed. I will have to wait until the price on the second set comes down a little more, but I can't wait for ROTK.

This is by far the editon to get if you loved the lord of the rings soundtrack. It has every song on it from the extended edition. and the DVD-A version is very nice.

Complete?.......2007-04-07

This CD collection is wonderful; it has much of the material from the movie that was only included in the extended edition DVD, but it is far from complete. While it does have the complete version of "The Passing of the Elves" and two versions of "The Road Goes Ever On", many of the songs are highly incomplete and inferior to the originals. "Aniron," the theme for Aragorn and Arwen performed by Enya, is incomplete and the lyrics are hard to match to what is being sung. The sound quality for this song is even worse on the accompanying DVD, which is supposed to have all of the music in "superior sound". The song "Prophecy" is reduced to two barely-audible lines and "May It Be" is shortened and different than the original. $60 for this when there are more complete songs on the original soundtrack is ridiculous.

Great Collection, Poor Packaging.......2007-04-03

I realy can't add to what others have said about this set, the music is simply the best LOTR soundtrack collection out there! It is all here, and the contents of this set will make any LOTR fan happy and the music DVD is a great one disc addition if you want to hear the entire score in one sitting (to which I have done a number of times already).
My only complaint is the somewhat flimsy cardboard box that houses the contents of this musical treasure. Mine came damaged, and considering the price, I expected better packaging. This is a minor quabble on my part and NO, I havent returned it due to the fact that the music itself Is what I truly treasure, It just would have been nicer to have recieved it undamaged.

Great set of wartime rarities.......2003-05-14

Spike Jones was the king of the novelty song performers, with hits like "Der Fuehrer's Face" and the parody version of "Sheik of Araby" becoming huge hits during World War II. This is a swell 3-CD set, gathering a full eighty-one of Jones' best tracks from his 1940s heyday, drawn from an extensive archive of radio broadcasts made for the Standard Transcription service. The tightness of his City Slickers band is amply demonstrated in these manic, kookily orchestrated performances. Toots, squonks, blatts and bleats whiz by at lightning speed, as one daffy song after another will delight devoted fans. Amazingly, Jones had the unusual, almost unique ability to perform a repertoire almost entirely made up of comedic material, and yet still be quite listenable and engaging. His jazz chops were hardly in question, and from time to time Jones would dash off a non-novelty ballad or two, just to give the rubes something to think about. Of course, just as often he would perform a song that *sounded* like a straight ballad, but would turn out to be another goof. (One great example of this is the sultry "Serenade To A Jerk," sung in slinky, burlesque tones by Myrtle Horwin.) This collection may seem a little overwhelming, but like his studio recordings, these radio performances have a certain brilliance and joie de vivre about them that will leave you enchanted. Definitely worth checking out!

Standard Transcription Collection.......2003-04-12

This collection has remastered material from the large stack of Standard Transcription discs from the early 1940's. There are many songs not recorded on RCA, many on the theme of wartime ("48 Reasons Why"), and the quality is excellent. The packaging is threadbare but this is an essential CD package for true music lovers.

An excellant stand out track on her solo CD. The sound is kinda like her spice girls song "Who do you think you are" either way a good vibe and great dance song. Plus the two extra songs, a cover of "These boots were made for walking" and "Perhaps,Perhaps,Perhaps" are good examples of this womans diversity. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!

Bag This Spice Up And Send Her To Me!.......2000-06-11

Geri Halliwell's fourth and final single is Bag It Up. It's a very up-beat song with a lot things 'happening' at the same time. Give the song flavour I think. The lyrics are seductive again, just like in some of her other singles, maybe that's why she was named Sexy Spice. The B-side track These Boots Were Made For Walking, sounds just like Nancy Sinatra herself is singing it. Would have been perfect for Austin Powers! It's sang almost identical to Nancy's original song, and the background music is nearly similiar. Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps the last b-side of this single is a song of which Latin Flavour pours out! Latin beats of the drum, guitar, and other percussion start off this song. Geri sings the lyrics with her latin music. The lyrics (which you'll find me rarely talking about) basically describe a relationship with a person who's always making up excuses, and she's finally fed up with things, and ready to say "Love me, or hit the road Jack!" It's a great buy, this single is the best of the all of her solo works!

More Fun From Geri!.......2000-05-30

This single follows in the tradition of Geri's two pervious singles with two new tracks.

Bag It Up - the title track is a dancey disco party waiting to happen.

These Boots Are Made For Walking - Geri's version has more of a beat to it than Nancy Sinatra's, and she makes it her own (although the vocals and music are very similar in style). Chalk up another cool and groovy track from Ms. Halliwell!

Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps - I like this track. Geri's cute chuckles at the end are just precious. In spite of that, the song does tend to not be very original. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I wish it was more dancey. I was expecting it to be like Samantha Fox's version, but alas, it's cute and fun and all Geri!

Go Ahead 'Bag It Up'.......2002-01-20

Bag It Up is the best single off Schizophonic. No doubt about it. The energy, the lyrics and the style are so energetic I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
Track 1. 'Bag it Up'-same as album version...Same great taste

Track 2. 'These boots were made for walking' Ok, The song is good but could use some more pep in the beginning I have never heard a guitar that sounded like it was dying before.

Track 3. 'Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps' If you liked 'a goodnight kiss' you'll like her remake of this song. Truthfully, 'a goodnight kiss' could have been Geri's reaction to this song. Its about being strung along.

Now the video is Outstanding, hilarious and will have you jumping out of you chair.[...]

The CD was worth it for 'bag it up' and the video alone. The 2 b-sides are not really directed to Geri's younger fans.

Halliwell Halliwell Halliwell.......2001-04-09

Not many people I meet are impressed with my revelation that I love Geri Halliwell. My partner was mildly surprised and amused that I'd spend my money on 'Schizophonic', but I maintain that its one of the best CDs to come out in all of the last two years. This CD, a Maxi-single kind, is extremely hard to find anymore, and I don't own it now. I regret the fact that I let it go over six months ago. Not only does it have that fantabulous track 'Bag it Up', it also has Geri's campy take on 'These boots were made for walkin', and the undeniably infectious 'Perhaps'. I must also say that I've never really liked the Spice Girls very much, but have always been consistently satisfied by Geri's solo work. SO much better than what Mel C and Mel B are putting out.

Highly recommended.

Fans of Geri Halliwell will surely be disappointed with this attempt at a remix single. Containing three additional remixes, plus the original, this single was not worth the money.

Sure, don't get me wrong, Bag It Up is a great club smash, but remixes are for one reason, to add something to the original. Sure, D-Bop's Chocolate Vocal Edit spiced up the original, but did that by speeding it up, would have been great for club play if it were just a couple of minutes longer. The Trouser Enthusiastics Edit is just that...Geri chanting "Who's wearing the trousers now?" And then we end up with the last remix which is just music.

Sure, if you love club music, and vocals mean little if anything to you then you have found the perfect CD. However, Geri finds herself in a demix of a great remix possibility (much like Madonna with American Pie!).

Geri will certainly bring us more hits, and with those hits will come more remixes but please let someone take them and mold them, add to them, not take away.

geri's 4th solo single is the least of the bunch..........2000-03-30

Geri's 4th solo single is the least of the bunch only because the remixes are a big disappointment. The original version of this song is great, a light fluffy pop number with a chorus that sticks with you for days. The remixes lose it mainly in the edits. Yet again, we have a single chock full of radio edits of the remixes, where they lose all of their power. Here's a little rundown:

1) Original Version - 3:49 - fun, fluffy pop.

2) D-Bop's Chocolate Vocal Edit - 4:28 - this remix is a lot faster than the original and would have been great for club use if it was not edited into a 4 and a half minute tease. Geri's vocals are kept intact which makes this a great sing-a-long song.

3) Trouser Enthusiasts Edit - 6:09 - No vocals. Just beats. You would have no idea that this was Geri Halliwell. The Trouser Enthiusiasts remixes are usually quite long and maybe on the full length remix Geri's vocals are included, but you will find none on this version.

4) Yomanda Edit - 5:14 - Another remix that's missing Geri. The only line in this song is "Who's wearing the trousers now?", which is repeated ad nauseum over a really bouncy, loopy beat. The music is a little bit spinny and crazy, but kind of fun at the same time.

So, if you are looking for some Geri remixes that have no vocals, these are the ones for you, if not, I suggest you pick up any of her other singles, for they all have worthy remixes.

I totally love this song cuz it is just so much fun. This cd has the remixes on it and they are totally wicked!!! Usually the remixes aren't worth your money but this cd so is. Forget the Spice Girls, Geri's got Something Kinda Funny going on!!!!
