About the Artist
For Seeking Homer, 1999 was a momentous year in the fact that they played just about every bar, club, college campus or fraternity house from Maine to the Carolinas and though Americas Heartland sharing the stage with such national acts as: The Samples, Guster, Moxy Fruvous, Jupiter Coyote, Cowboy Mouth, Everything, Acoustic Junction and Agents of Good Roots. The four man, acoustic-driven rock group has also had the good fortune to play many of the hottest clubs throughout the East Coast and Midwest. Currently they are favorites in venues like The Wetlands and Irving Plaza in New York City, the 9:30 Club in Washington DC, and Schubas in Chicago. In 1999, Seeking Homer played over 150 concerts in 24 states logging over 45,000 miles.

With the help of performing high-profile live concerts such as the 1999 Womens World Cup, 1998 ACC Soccer Championships and even the 1997 American League Division Series at Yankee Stadium, the band has steadily entered the consciousness of clubs, radio stations, the music press and most importantly, the listening public. Early in 1999, Seeking Homer joined the Colorado-based band, The Samples for two national tours. Overnight, Seeking Homer went from playing for a few hundred to a few thousand, and expanded their mailing list to 5000+.

The band released their first album Streets, in 1996 while attending Fordham University in New York City. In 1998, A Good Hard Smack, their sophomore full-length CD, was released and to date has sold over 8000 copies. Together, the albums have sold over 13,000 copies worldwide a major feat for any unsigned, self-produced, self-booked, self-managed, indie act. How did they do it? Non-stop touring, endless promoting, online distributing coupled with the bands ever-expanding mailing list and fan base. This strategy is certain to keep the future bright for Seeking Homer, one of the countrys hottest independent acts.

Band members: David Oberacker - Vocals, Guitars & Harmonica
Tom Connors - Vocals, Guitars

Michael Seda - Vocals, Drums

Product Description
It seems only fitting that one of the best live independent acts in the country should release a live CD right? Fresh off the heels of a 6 week tour of the East Coast, the boys return home for an intimate concert at the historic Wetlands in New York City. The album is doused with live gems such as "The Star Spangled Banner", "Mountaintop" and the crowd favorite, Men At Work's hit, "Down Under". The songs, "Greyhound" and "Downtown" are also performed which are previously unreleased. This Cd is a must for any Seeking Homer fan.

2 out of 5 stars Not that great..........2003-12-31

I found this album very monotonous and disappointing. I am an avid fan of Jazz-Funk Jambands, but this album, no matter how many times I hear it, just isn't that good. Most of the songs drone on one groove, go into space and lack inspired playing. The one high point of the record is SMB, which is really cool, I'll admit. If you're looking to expand your collection beyond Galactic and The Greyboy Allstars, I'd recommend checking out OO Soul, Sugarman 3, Mofro, Corduroy or some John Scofield first.

5 out of 5 stars good grooves (R.I.P Wetlands).......2002-07-15

The Wetlands preserve in New York lost its lease a while ago and had to close, which [stinks]. This CD brings back the glory days of the northeast jam band scene. Check out the cool take on the Super Mario Brothers theme ("SMB").

This is one groovy cd! The band is great live, so this highlights their improvisational skills... No song is ever the same!!! GET IT NOW!!!

5 out of 5 stars excellent live cd.......2004-01-17

This is a great live cd. Good quality. The band is much better live than in the studio in my opinion

5 out of 5 stars Laughing & Loving & Living.......2003-02-02

Seeking Homer always sounds best live. This 3rd release, 2 CD set gives you the best sample of their unique rock/pop/folk blend. Electric Guitarist Tom Conners creates unique, artistically pleasant chords that entice you to listen. These chords combined with the vocals and acoustic guitar of Dave Oberacker, the fast beat of drummer Micheal Seda and the bass rhythm of James Dunlop result in a fun, upbeat sound that is sure to please. This release includes Seeking Homer greats such as "Playground", "Greyhound", "Astray" and their own rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner."...

5 out of 5 stars Live is what they do best..........2000-12-03

This was a natural follow-up to their 2 studio releases. Seeking Homer really shines in a live performance. After you hear this, you will definately want to travel wherever you have to to see them!

5 out of 5 stars http://thisismodern.iscool.net.......2000-10-23

This CD is an great live offering from a great band out of New York City. Seeking Homer wail on their acoustic guitars throughout an album some could call a collection of their greatest hits done live and onstage in one of their favorite venues. Recorded at the Wetlands Preserve in Manhattan, this live album consists of an array of great original songs and covers. Excellent tracks include "Playground," "Greyhound," "Identity Daydream," and "Dilemma." Check this album out if you are a fan of bands like Guster, Dave Matthews Band, or Pat McGee Band. It boasts some of the best acoustic rock around. The CD makes you feel like you are in a crowded, smoky club with your buddies at the show. Two of the best tunes on the ablum are the funky "Weatherman" and the completely acoustic "Policy." "Policy" is reminiscent of early U2 with vocals sounding just like Bono's. In certain tracks you hear some lyrics from the Beach Boys and Beastie Boys and even a little bit of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." They do a great job covering Men At Work's "Down Under." Overall this album is worth your listen and definitely go buy it. It'll definitely make you crave their two previous studio offerings, "Streets" and "... A Good Hard Smack," and absolutely make you travel far just to catch one of their live shows.

5 out of 5 stars Star Spangled Banner Rocks.......2000-10-09

After seeing seeking homer live for the first time this weekend at Southern Illinois University, I purchased this cd. It has similar tones as the Samples, but with a fresh and current beat.

The Star Spangled Banner song, as showcased on the 2000 PGA on NBC, is the best song on this 2 disc set, and well worth the purchase.

I can't wait for Seeking Homer to return live to CHICAGO!
