NowOn’s highly anticipated debut, "From Now On...The EP" is due out spring of 2005. The EP is completely produced by The Lab Techs - the hottest up and coming production team for artists such as AML, Juice, Slum Village, Invincible, Jean Grae and Wildchild of The Lootpack. Included on the EP is a song that features Speech, front man for the multi-platinum selling band, Arrested Development. "From Now On, The EP" is a preview to NowOn’s upcoming full-length, "EyeLevel". The group is currently looking for the right label to release "EyeLevel", which also features appearances from AML, Invincible, Illite (of Subterraneous), S.U.N., and Funktelligence.

Emcees IX Lives and Jax, have appeared on stage with the Grammy Award winning artists Chaka Kahn, Herbie Hancock and Arrested Development. The duo also co-wrote and recorded songs for Arrested Development’s latest release "Among the Trees". NowOn’s members have performed live with Mos Def, The Roots, Talib Kweli, The Pharcyde, De La Soul, and Little Brother, among many others. The group’s members have toured extensively in the U.S. and Japan, have appeared on national television, have written songs that were licensed for TV and film, and have reached combined record sales of over 10,000 units. Producers, The Lab Techs (of which DJ Haircut is a member), also produced Athletic Mic League’s latest full-length project, "Jungle Gym Jungle," which was released in June 2004 on Barak Records (home of Detroit’s Slum Village, Dwele and Phat Kat).

Coffinberry may draw comparisons to a lot of other trendy rock bands like French Kicks or even The Strokes. There's one big difference though between them and other purveyors of that garagey sound. Coffinberry has soul. Yeah, you know personality? Remember that? There's depth here people. You can listen to Coffinberry one time though and think you've got them pegged but you'd be cheating yourself. The music rewards you with repeated listens. A must see live also. They have an intensity and telepathic tightness that is the envy of many a good band. In Anthony Cross they have the best drummer this side of the International Date Line. There's the casual but brilliant guitar interplay of Tony and Nick that makes you scratch yer head in delight wondering "What was that last chord they just played? - How'd they do that?" Fill that out with the amiable and playful bass work of Pat O'Connor and you've got an organic and polished wall of rock. Yeah, yer right they are friends of mine. But you know what, that makes me like their music even better. How many bands can you say that about? I love The Police but I sure as heck don't wanna hang out with Sting. Don't let Coffinberry pass you by. And for God's sake don't let them stop.

Coffinberry's CD EP, entitled "From Now On Now" is quite simply, the worst record I've heard this year.

Granted, it's only mid-January - there's a good chance some other band will top these Ohio based rockers in flatness and unoriginality. The seven-track album features a mix of blues, feedback, and straight up rock, but the poor production and throaty vocals of Nicholas and Anthony Cross makes Coffinberry sound like just another garage band. The extended instrumental jams are the musical equivalent of a speaker stringing one cliché after another. But in their defense, "From Now On Now" is Coffinberry's debut album, and judging by online forums, the group's Cleveland-area fans seem to appreciate their live shows. Then again, used copies of this album are selling for exactly one penny (plus shipping). You can make your own inference.

Great band, Great EP.......2006-08-07

Coffinberry is a hard rock band from Cleveland with a blues and jazz influence, such a style that you rarely hear these days. This EP showcases some of their best work so far.

The tracks are as follows:

This band has an awesome sound and a lot of potential to become bigger in the future. I highly advise you to check them out. They also have a 7" on Exit Stencil Recordings (which can be bought at their website) featuring 3 other great songs that are older and not included on this EP as well as a self-released EP called "Sleush" that is somewhat rare and has several more tracks.

Bottom line: look how cheap the EP is... don't pass up Coffinberry!

Excellent Debut.......2005-11-14

Really solid Cleveland 4-piece. Nick's vocals are like a young Paul Westerberg. The whole band hangs together so well, and in only seven songs! I can only hope that they go on tour soon so the word can see how hard they rock. Super nice guys too (they played at my college last spring). I rocked out so hard that I thought my nose was going to bleed! Good job guys! Keep rockin'!

Two MC's Jax and Mike, formerly of Ann Arbor based funk/hip-hop group Funktelligence, and the DJ of AML team up with this close to stellar EP. There are 8 tracks, but only 5 are songs (one being a 12 second intro, a remix whic is better than the original, and a poem to close the EP). The beats on this album are fresh and groove heavy and pretty soulful with dreamy keys and pretty horn stabs, although not necessarily bonified head-nodders. The lyrics are strongly delivered and pack a socially conscious punch throughout the entire album. There isn't a weak track, and Mike and Jax seem to hold their own on the mic with some help from the AML crew on the Sky Children remix.
This is jazzy, yet not, new, yet familiar, and just plain sweet. Pick it up.
