Cruise Muzak For Drug Addled Hedonists!.......2006-02-24

This is not a music album per se, but if you have an open mind about music operating as aural art form then this will be right up your alley. Fans of Alva Noto, Boards Of Canada, Naut Humon and various turntable deconstructionists will seem to get a kick out of it. The songs themselves cover a wide array of sonic styles from ambient,comedy, dub, isolationism, scratch composition and even a full infomercial is featured. God Is An Excuse is one of the best albums ever conceived. Too bad the album is out of print due to the label going the way of the brontosaurus. someone should re-issue both albums.

Brain,Ler,I love you guys to death but come on! By listening to this CD, you can tell that they had put no effort into thier music by not exposing any of thier talent. All the primus fans would know what I'm talking about. These guys have a lot of skill, and unfortunately, non of it was portrayed in this album.

I really wanted this album to be a great new addition to my Primus and friends record collection but it won't be in my house longer than it takes to sell it on ebay. Primus is my favorite band!! Les's Frog Brigade I think is the coolest!! I guess without Les Claypool these guys just forgot how to make music or even how to play their instruments because when I sat down and cranked this album up the only thing I could think was I must find the nearest ocean and throw this one to the fishes. Not one ounce of musicianship in this Inexcuseable production. Sorry guys but give Les a call on the phone and mabye he can give you a few ideas on how to write a melody and how to use a mixing board. I wish I wasn't so hard on them but come on this blows hard!

The very first time I heard this CD, I went into an Anaphalactic Shock. The second time I heard it, it made me very nervous. The third time I heard it, I was thanking the Lord, Jesus Christ, for allowing these boys to find each other in a world as cluttered with poison and hopelessness as ours. The ambience created by this music is moist and choking, but if you simply sit back, relax, and let "God Is an Excuse" take over, you'll be transported through a wormhole to a land where peace is found in obscurity and love is found in sound bites of old San Francisco Forty Niner games. This is true "antipop" and anyone who appreciates the beauty of noise manipulation will find this to be very novocaine like. While you're at it, go ahead and give "Lee's Oriental Massage" a listen, it'll make you cry.

Crazy!!!.......2002-03-05

Well first of all it is not the kind of music you'd expect to hear from these guys (for those who know primus). I don't know anything about raves since i've never been to one, but it seems to me that this is the perfect music for kids on ecstasy. Its great... blew my mind away.

I actually bought this CD single for the acoustic version of "Trouble," but also enjoyed the three variations on "God is a DJ." Pink's acoustic performance of "Trouble" was just breathtaking at the Grammy Awards in 2003. Very raw and emotional. The acoustic version on this single, though, is from AOL Sessions, not the Grammys. It's still a very good acoustic version. I enjoyed the songs so much that I wanted to share the CD. I loaned it to someone weeks ago, and still haven't gotten it back!

This single is very underrated, it didn't even hit the US Top 100, I was shocked. The day I bought Try This, I was expecting this to be a big hit. Its a good song, well Pinks popular overseas well she's losing her popularity here, hopefully her next single will do better.

If you liked "Try This", then you'll like Pink's 2nd single "God Is A DJ".I think that the song is very cool,even though she put the words ass and f**k in it.I mostly think that Pink is a good friend to me because on her 4th single "Family Portrait",it also tells about my life when I was young too. I cried like about 10 times when I always hear that song.So go get "God Is A DJ" and get your ass on the dance floor

Hinsidans "God is in the details" is a mindblowing journey. Imagine an updated version of Throbbing Gristle, or a Coil with harder edges, this gives a hint of Hinsidans universe.
This is a solid release, highly recommended...going further to bring you closer, ahh well- just get it!

This Box-set can not be recommended enough!! Hinsidan grace and embrace so many genres, succesfully integrating both avantgarde rock, electronica/IDM and heavy, pounding oldschool industrial into their overall expression . I'm looking very forward to seeing more of this band in the future.

terrific spiritual piece of music........2004-12-21

i just received this c.d. and i find it absolutely compelling.the directive here is a spiritual connective body of songs that meld into each other.. Thereis a wonderful flow to the songs as they change moods and a very interesting selection.i do not agree with the above reviewer. I am a long standing ALICE fan from early 80's up to now..This is a very personal statement/vision recording.the producers have drenched her voice deep reverberations..sounding almost as if in a church..At times it reminds me of "gone to earth" by david sylvian and other times some of the moodier work of Tim Buckley.Also it was mentioned that two of the songs are from earlier albums..True and not true..They are but they have been reinterpreted which makes them sound new.I was very surprised by this record and tenative after reading the review above..BUt it is a wonderful addition to a very artistic body of work by ALice.There are a couple of Battiato songs on it and two david crosby tunes..This record was definitely from the spirit.

Disappointing work.......2001-03-09

A big disappointment from a wonderful Italian singer who usually produces great work. There is a very promising selection of pieces here, but most of the arrangements are surprisingly unimaginative, and the cd as a whole ends up plodding along with little energy. Also, two of the tracks are taken directly from previous albums. I highly suggest giving a listen to the superior work "Charade" (1995) or even "Exit" (1998) before this one.
