3 out of 5 stars not thrilled with the album.......2007-01-03

My husband and I are huge Savage Garden fans. We were both disappointed with this album. It seems like towards the end of the CD they were just trying to fill in space. It is ashame because there were so many other wonderful songs they created that did not appear on the album. I would reccomend buying the original CD's separately, get more for your money that way.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but not a Best of.......2006-12-06

I have to agree that this could have been better due to certain track choices. And instead of having the dvd they could have input another cd and had a complete library of Savage Garden songs including all the B-sides the two Darren Hayes songs on this cd and the never released in America song "Mine" which I have to say is one of their best.

All in all I don't regret getting it, but it could have better.

4 out of 5 stars Kenny Mac, Mad Soundz (Australia).......2006-06-19

after 6 years apart, the best of savage garden cd has finally been released & i am happy to have a copy of my own. the album definetly does not disappoint except songs such as "gunning down romance", "two beds & a coffee machine", "i don't know you anymore", "carry on dancing", "universe" and "mine" which were great songs could have been on there. the two songs by darren hayes were awesome and better than ever. my fav. song would have to be "i knew i loved you". Fantastic album overall

This is a fantastic collection of SG's past albums. I highly recommend it for the fans and those who are simply curious. A must have!

4 out of 5 stars If only it had Tears of Pearls!!!.......2006-03-16

Savage Garden is, without a doubt, a band that left behind music that has lived on though they split up. And this is one of the first times I find such a complete compilation for any artist... though that's easy to accomplish when you only have two discs under your sleeve.

Nevertheless, they were both two great discs and the best of them has been brought over to these new album, spotless... the only thing that holds me back from giving this a 5 rating, is the fact that it misses my favorite Savage Garden song: Tears of Pearls, from the first record...

Still, it's forgivable: even though the song was good, it wasn't that much of a hit as other that are included...

A must have if you don't have the originals and are interested in Savage Garden music.

As these two boys from Brisbane, Australia, know, it doesn't hurt to be endorsed by Rosie O'Donnell. When the Queen of Nice sang the words to "I Want You" and the praises of the duo behind it, the song catapulted up the charts. Largely ignored by the serious music press, Savage Garden have cultivated a vast fan base on the strength of their music--and airplay--alone. As formulaic as it may appear, the ballad "Truly Madly Deeply" was lodged at No. 1 for week after week for a reason--it's damn catchy and a welcome reprieve from overdone rock ballads. Lead singer Darren Hayes lends the same yearning vocal style to the third--and best--single from the album, "To the Moon & Back," a slice of synth-pop genius that culminates in a dramatic crescendo of strings, courtesy of coleader Daniel Jones. --Rebecca Wallwork

5 out of 5 stars Music to love to.......2007-05-13

Nostalgia got me one afternoon and I had to listen to the songs I use to listen to when I was younger. I used to swoon at the sound of Darren Hayes' voice and suddenly craved that sound again. I'd given my CD to a friend as a gift though, so I had to buy it again. I'm so glad I did.

The debut album of Savage Garden is by far their best. From "I Want You", a great song to dance to, to "Tears of Pearls" a song that may pull on your heart strings. They cover every emotion and pull some new ones from you.

If you haven't heard this CD yet, you need to.

5 out of 5 stars best band ever.......2006-10-03

I love both albums from Savage Garden. They are definitely my favourite group ever. Now I can only listen to their songs. I don't think I could go back to *NSYNC or Backstreet Boys. Savage Garden were always on the radio in Australia (I'm from Australia) and on TV. I think Daniel Jones is so talented (and HOT!!) and Darren Hayes' voice is just so amazing. I love how their songs have a deep meaning and are not just some jingle. My absolute favourite song from this album is "To The Moon And Back" because it's so catchy and my other favourites are "Break Me Shake Me" "I Want You" "Truly Madly Deeply" and "Santa Monica". Put all their albums in your shopping cart NOW!!!

5 out of 5 stars awesome band.......2006-10-03

i think Savage Garden are the best band ever. I would rather listen to them than Backstreet Boys or *NSYNC anyday. Daniel Jones is so hot and can play every instrument imaginable... and Darren Hayes' voice is heaven.

5 out of 5 stars Yes........2006-04-09

Savage Garden is just about the greatest pop band ever, and that's all you need to know. They are a masterpiece.

5 out of 5 stars HIGH SCHOOL ALBUM.......2006-02-02

This band could have been so MEGABIG right now if they hadn't disbanded. The lead singer Darren has a voice that is hauntingly angelic and the songs they sang was a mix of alternative/r&b/pop/rock/dance...such a great group. I bought this CD because I had heard three of their singles and they all were phenomenal. Buy this CD if you must because it is definitely not a bore. It is great for those high school events like the Senior Prom (Truly Madly Deeply and Universe), the Halloween dance (To the Moon and Back, I Want You, Carry On Dancing), and your first date and kiss (Santa Monica), hee-hee.
I miss this group. I wish that they could have stayed together for long because their second album was also a total smash like this one. Something about Darren's vocals, the instruments, their look, the lyrics, and their aura is compelling. Even now that I am older and experienced, I would slip into nostalgia and think about the good ol' days when music wasn't so angry and competitive and recyclable. Buy this CD because it is the debut of the ones that may have influenced Hoobastank, Coldplay, and Maroon 5. Cheerios!

Savage Garden's songs are of innocence and urgency. On the Australian pop duo's second album, Affirmation, love is either a broken thing or a newly exploding one, passion and obsession taking over after a spin on the dance floor. At the same time, when Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones proclaim that they want to "live like animals," they're not planning anything too raw, too Reznorish: they just want that childlike lack of guile. This approach, taken with a total lack of irony and with large doses of appealing melodicism, led to multiplatinum sales for the act's debut, and there's no reason to think that Affirmation won't be similarly accepted. Sometimes a bit too goodhearted for its own good--the title track's wide-eyed sentiments might make even Stuart Smalley smirk--the disc's best moments are hard to dislike when taken on their own terms. --Rickey Wright

The CD Affirmation is as good as the reviews I read. I am very glad I purchased it. I really did not realize how many good songs were on it.

5 out of 5 stars Savage Garden at their best....and their last.......2007-06-01

This is such a great album. There's not one dud song on it. The only one that doesn't stand up as strongly as the others is Gunning Down Romance, but all the other tracks could easily have been released as singles. Savage Garden were the best thing to come out of Australia in a while. It's so sad they broke up after only two albums. They could've gone on to do so much more. Unfortunately Darren Hayes's solo efforts never came up to par although I was hoping that he would be the 'continuance' of Savage Garden. The songs are just bland pop, even though he does have a great voice. It would seem he needs Daniel to write a good song. Plus I'm still peeved at Darren for being gay. How dare he mess with our psyches making us think he liked girls! But anyway, I digress...Affirmation is pop at its best.

5 out of 5 stars the last album..........2006-10-03

This album is nearly as good as their first but nothing will beat their debut. My absolute favourites are "Affirmation" coz it's catchy and I LOVE Darren's voice in this; he sounds so good, "Crash and Burn" A slow, sad song but the lyrics are beautiful, "Hold Me" A pop song, catchy and upbeat. I like the others as well like "I Knew I Loved You" (like "Truly, Madly, Deeply") "Chained to You" catchy and upbeat and "The Best Thing", which is a lot like "Chained to You" Also, Daniel is really good in this album, he can play every instrument beautifully. Plus he's hot!

3 out of 5 stars Nice But Sort of Dull..........2006-07-11

I fell in love with Savage Garden's debut a long time back, and still have the c.d. to this day. I really enjoyed their sound and the beautiful songs they made including To The Moon and Back and Carry on Dancing.
I heard a little while ago Crash and Burn and I Knew I Loved You off their sophmore album on the radio and always wanted to get around to buying it. I finally found it at a bargin store and decided it was none better time to finally get it. I bought the album just on the love I held for their debut album.

Well the album is a bit of a disappointment. It does not hold the same power as their debut, nor as many memorable songs. The whole album Affirmation gives off a very "meh" kind of feeling for me. A lot of the songs sound nice to listen to, but there's not a lot there to really be exicted about.

The strongest songs on here are I Knew I Loved You, Crash and Burn, The Lover After Me, The Best Thing, and You can Still be Free (which is probably the most amazing song on here). Affirmation can get kind of annoying but it sounds all right. Those are the songs I usually turn to when I put this album in. A lot of the other songs on this album I do not play nearly as much- although I don't hate any of the songs. They just are sort of boring compared to the ones I mentioned.

When I recommend Savage Garden to anyone though, I do recommend their debut instead.

3.5/ 5

With the seventh installment of Pavarotti & Friends: For Cambodia and Tibet, the beloved tenor assembles yet another all-star cast of musicians in hopes of helping the children of Cambodia and Tibet. The music of the pop stars--which ranges from the modern rock of the veteran Eurythmics to the dance-pop of Aqua--really steals the show here, with Pavarotti lending his impeccable vocal support. Tracy Chapman performs "Baby Can I Hold You" as a duet with Pavarotti, and Eurythmics team up with him on "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)." Of course, the tenor's fans will be begging to hear the opera great in his element, and it's no surprise that he shines on Bizet's "Agnus Dei," with international pop star Mónica Naranjo joining in; Eduardo Di Capua's "O Sole Mio," with Savage Garden; or even Luigi Denza's "Funiculi, Funicula," with Aqua and a children's chorus. As globetrotting benefit tributes go, this is a mixed bag, but there's probably something here for everyone. --Jason Verlinde

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent video...........2002-10-13

I am a fan of Savage Garden, The Eurythmics, and George Michael - all of them did a great job with and without Pavarotti....

And the man who sang O SOLE MIO - Darren Hayes (formerly of Savage Garden)... has the most beautiful- angelic- sultry and great voices I have ever heard - and to do it in Neapoliaton Italian (dialect) and in my opinion the best duet of ALL of them featured!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great songs sung by a diverse group of artists.......2002-02-07

As always, Maestro Pavarotti's Modena concerts are highly entertaining and uplifting.
All artists sang two songs during the concert (one on their own and another with Maestro Pavarotti), but unfortunately not all of the songs are featured on this video. Another shortcoming is that there are no interviews or any extra footage.

It is funny to hear Pavarotti sing a pop tune as it is equally funny to see a pop singer with virtually no voice doing "O Sole Mio", but if it is all in good spirit and for charity, then it is enjoyable.

If you are intersted in European music scene or simply love Pavarotti, this tape will be a great treat for you.

5 out of 5 stars Pavarotti's Best War Child Concert.......2002-01-04

Bravo showed this concert on New Years 2002 and it blew my mind. It is certainly the best of the War Child concerts, which started in 1996 as Pavarotti's effort to help the children of war-torn countries.
Like in the previous concerts, Pavarotti appears with international pop stars in the open-air piazza of his home town, Modena, Italy. (How do I get tickets for that?)
If you haven't heard any of these concerts, also available on CDs, you will be surprised how well Pavarotti's voice--a voice that makes the gods swoon--blends with the likes of Enrique Iglesias, George Michael, Tracy Chapman, and the Eurythmics. Previous concerts included B.B. King, Elton John, Ricky Martin, and Liza Minelli. Sometimes he sings along in English, sometimes in Italian counterpoint. The effect is stupdendous! These concerts display all the beauty of this great operatic voice while at the same time honoring the art of our greatest pop artists.
What makes this video the best is the children's chorus, the combined Ars Canto of Parmi, Italy, and the Children's Choir of Cambodia and Tibet. The video starts with this chorus joining Pavarotti and the totally sexy Enrique Iglesias in a rousing "Cielito Lindo."
Pavarotti really knows entertainment and in this one he pulls out all the stops! Best of all, part of the proceeds of this tape goes to benefit the children of Cambodia and Tibet. Pavarotti's efforts to help War Child have already built music centers for children in Kosovo, Liberia, and Guatemala. What great leadership!
He says on one of his jackets: "All too often, children are betrayed by the inhuman actions of adults, and become the innocent victims of war and cruelty. War Child is an energetic, and practical organization offering vital hope, working tirelessly for children to regain their rightful place in the world."

4 out of 5 stars Very diverse! Loved it!.......2000-12-18

I am a HUGE Savage Garden fan so that was the main reason to buy this album. And I have to say Darren's voice is AWESOME in "O Sole Mio", the first time I listened to it it made me cry. So I bought the cd. I was glad to see that there are very enjoyable songs in the album not only the SG tracks. I loved Tracy Chapman's "Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" performance, now I am a Tracy fan too. You'll enjoy the performances by Aqua, Enrique Iglesias and Eurhytmics and of course the queen Tracy Chapman " ("Telling Stories" is superb!). I even discovered some new artists I had never heard of and I liked them. You won't be disappointed by this album.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderfully enjoyable and diverse collection of music.......2000-11-05

This collection of music has given me great pleasure. Aqua's Around the World is a joy. Hearing the Eurythmics and Pavarotti perform together is fun and beautiful. I also especially liked Enrique Iglesias's Be with you. 20 tracks and 77 minutes of great music I will listen to again and again. And all for a good cause.

2 out of 5 stars Forgettable.......2007-01-15

I've listened to this a few times and it's incredibly forgettable and ignorable. For some reason, nothing on it captures my attention except the first few moments of the first song.

5 out of 5 stars SAVAGELY GOOD BLACK METAL!!.......2006-11-28

To correct DARKDEATH below, there are 5 STUDIO songs from the EP and 3 LIVE tracks. Buy the DELUXE EDITION whichs includes the 2 extra LIVE tracks bringing the total to 5 LIVE ones. I like it too, man.

I bought this on a whim without sampling it because I love DIMMU BORGIR. Unluckyfrank got lucky and only paid 7 bucks for it at Tower's Going Out of Business Sale. Now, it's one of my favorites!! If you're a fan, this is definitely worth your attention!! This is worth it just for the BLACK STUDIO tracks alone!! Hell's Fire!! The LIVE s@#t is great too!!

STUDIO tracks 1 & 3, MOONCHILD DOMAIN and CHAOS WITHOUT MERCY, have the lyrics printed inside. MOONCHILD DOMAIN is about a demonic whore by the name of Eliza. Apparently she eats the souls of the sick and innocent. Damn!! The third track, CHAOS WITHOUT PROPHECY, as near as I can tell, is about a king who summons a demon named Azunda. The demon posesses the king and gets to spread his evil on Earth while destroying the prophecy that he be locked out of creation. Holy S@#t!! And then there's The Classic SPELLBOUND BY THE DEVIL(LIVE)!! Great LIVE rendition!!

AN INSANE BLACK METAL MIX of 5 STUDIO and 5 LIVE tracks from one of the greatest SATANIC BLACK METAL bands of all time!! If you don't belong in their coven, just don't get near them when the moon is full. They may need fresh blood!!

ENJOY THE DARKSIDE.

3 out of 5 stars Good EP, but Alas Not Great.......2006-02-03

Dimmu's second EP (if you count the split album with Old Man's Child as an EP) is comprised of two new tracks, one cover, three live recordings and two updated versions of songs from For All Tid. The live recordings are all very good, no complaints. The cover seems rather pointless. The two new tracks are both good with Moonchild Domain being the better of the two. It is the updated versions of the tracks from For All Tid that stand out the most for me. The improved sound quality and arrangments of these songs make them far superior to the originals in my opinion. Overall I recommend this disc to diehards only, newcomers should instead seek out the original version of "Stormblast", "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant", "Spiritual Black Dimensions" and "Puritanical Euphoric Misantrhopia".

4 out of 5 stars Good Enough.......2005-10-14

so i bought this with out even looking at it. When i got it i realized theres like 8 songs on it..and 3 of them are live with only 2 new songs...and one...i guess dover...i had to listen to get several times to really get into it. Know i love it and listen to it alot.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent EP!.......2004-08-04

The live songs on here are great, even better than the studio. Plus Astennu (their guitarist at the time) was playing here, which added superior playing ability to the songs. I wonder how much better Dimmu's later albums would have been if Astennu were still in the band. As for the regular tracks, well "Chaos Without Prophecy" is my favorite studio song on this EP. Highly recommended!

To be honest, the words play just as important a part as the music itself in this song. The truth and emotion that is injected into every word by the musician and the lyricist, and the feeling used in the recording, makes this song a pleasure to listen to for anyone that is, or has ever been in love. Taken from the album Affirmation, which i also reccomend highly.

The song I Knew I Loved You is the best ever! At one of my classmate's parties to celebrate Christmas, this song enabled me to dance with one girl (my crush). I would love to thank the writers and Savage Garden for this wonderful song!

5 out of 5 stars This CD is so cool........2000-01-24

This is the first Savage Garden CD I have ever bought. I am really impressed by the lyrics of this song. Some Talented song writing went to this beautiful piece of music. I don't know what I never bought their previous debut album from 1997. Nor I have I bought the current whole CD yet. Just the Single for now. Nonetheless, this is their best song since "To the Moon and Back". That song was so fresh! I don't know which one is Darren or Darryl but they have a unique sound. I don't know why they call the second track the "Mini Me Mix". Is it because the song was in Austin Powers or something? Someone tell me. The "Mini Me Mix" is, however, a cool dance mix. You'll enjoy this.

5 out of 5 stars The voice of a new decade.......2000-01-23

Savage Garden starts off the year with a wonderful single, "I knew I loved you." The lyrics are so mesmerizing that the first time I heard it, it brought chills because everything about the emotion was so true. In addition with the lead singer's voice, this is one of the most powerful songs I've heard and will definately be something that I will sing with my special man during my wedding.

I was surprised by this album. If you enjoy the gothic atmosphere that the 69 eyes brings then this album isn't for you. It was heavily rock blues influenced like a bad 80's tribute. It was too bright. I didn't even recognize that band members and the song titles hinted at the music genre. I hesitated buying this album but I put my faith in it. Faith never works for me.

Okay well ive been a fan for about 4 years & this disk cant be taken out of my CD player & is constantly on repeat on my ipod. For a second album, this is amazing! WILD TALK is probobly one of their best songs they've ever recorded. This is pure 80's style glam rock & its well done & not cheezy. From beginning to end (even the intro) its a great listen you wont get tired of. DO pick it up :)

Tosca has been well-served on CD, with excellent stereo versions by Renata Tebaldi and Leontyne Price, as well as the definitive monophonic Maria Callas interpretation on EMI. What lifts this new Tosca from the pack of also-rans is Angela Gheorghiu's intense portrait of the heroine. She sings with sweep and passion, convincing you of Tosca's varied emotional states, from love and jealousy to honor and desperation. Her stabbing scene is chilling; she spits out the repeated word "Mouri" (die) with terrifying power. Only in a slightly bumpy "Vissi d'arte" does she fall ever-so-slightly short, wanting the fullness of a true spinto voice to fill out Puccini's arching line. Roberto Alagna is a convincing Cavaradossi, singing better than he has in some of his recent recordings. Only occasionally does he sound strained, and he lets loose some thrilling high notes. As Scarpia, Ruggero Raimondi is a nasty villain. Antonio Pappano leads a swift-moving, dramatic performance. This nicely packaged set is billed as the soundtrack of a movie version of the opera, but it stands on its own as a dramatic performance of a dramatic opera. --Dan Davis

    Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Five stars for Gheorghiu, but her Mario and Scarpia have problems.......2006-05-29

The good things up front: true spinto sopranos like Leontyne Price and Renata Tebaldi are simply non-existent anymore, and we have to be grateful that a mature artist like Gheorghiu can step before a microphone (if not onstage in a large opera house) and inhabit the role of Tosca with such passion and musicality. The last lyric soprano to try such a stretch was Mirella Freni for Sinopoli (DG), and she was even more heartrending and convincing. The secret is to be able to act for the microphone, and Gheorghiu does it wonderfully; one is only occasionally aware that her voice cannot swell and bloom over Puccini's lush orchestration the way Price and Tebaldi could.

However, paired with this top-flight Tosca are two weaker partners. Alagna is stretching here, too, but he does it a la Carreras, by adopting a relentlessly ardent, sobbing hysteria that delivers a visceral thrill (as Giuseppe di Stefano said about his own vocal recklessness, "The audience likes to see me commit suicide"), but which leaves tonal beauty, style, and musicality in the ditch. Even so, Alagna and Gheorghiu have romantic chemistry, and that counts for a lot. He's often the fire to her ice.

Raimondi was an excelent Scarpia for Karajan two decades ago, and although his dramatic efforts remain convincing, his tone has turned woolly and wobbly. He sounds as if he's singing through cotton and is too aged for any kind of erotic chemistry with Tosca--we don't want her groped by a dirty old man.

Pappano tries the same trick as Karajan and Sinopoli, taking Puccini's melodrama--by turns saccharine, poignant, and fire-breathing--at slow tempos to impart added 'seriousness.' To some extent that's effective, but not nearly as much as with his two prdecessors, who had more theatrical chills and spills to back up their sensitivity. Tosca doesn't work unless it runs off the rails. So, weighing everything in the balance, I can't agree with the reviewer who calls this the best Tosca in forty years, good as its best parts are.

5 out of 5 stars Too Much Like Maria Callas.......2005-12-21

I don't consider myself to be too much of an expert as far as operatic technique, but everytime I hear Angela Gheorghiu I am reminded of Maria Callas. Does anyone know what I mean ? She SOUNDS JUST LIKE MARIA CALLAS. It seems she's heard one too many Maria Callas recordings and all she does is imitate her style. This Tosca is an obvious imitation of the 1950's EMI recording with Maria Callas, Giuseppe Di Stefano and Tito Gobbi. While the sound quality is excellent, and the Royal Opera Covent Garden Orchestra is unsurpassed due to the great prowess of conductor Antonio Pappano, the weakness of this set is in Angela Gheorghiu's Callasian performance. It is no homage or tribute to Callas' Tosca. It is a remake of it. Gheorghiu does have a better sound than Callas and her voice is more beautiful to hear but it has the same strident soprano high register and the "bite" in the chest voice. Roberto Alagna, too, seems to be paying tribute to Giuseppe Di Stefano, though he clearly has his own style. It is a grand style however he cannot master the tessitura of the part of Mario. Ruggero Raimondi as Scarpia is the best feature of this recording. Raimondi is sly, wicked and elegant, a handsome and scheming devil. His Italian is lazer sharp since he is himself Italian and his acting abilities are superior. He has played great Don Giovannis (and in a film) and his mastership of the baritone repertoire is praiseworthy. So, all in all, if you're a devotee of opera's favorite couple Gheorghiu/Alagna (they are also happily married) then this recording is for you. It's clear they are a terrific team together. She can get into the role with great integrity and vocal brilliance. He can also get into character well, though I have always preferred Placido Domingo and Franco Corelli as Mario Cavaradossi, as well as Jose Carreras. Alagna is good in this one though. But believe me, Gheorghiu sounds too much like Callas. Listen to her voice in Trovatore, Romeo Et Juliette, Manon, Werther, La Boheme and other recordings of her (like the Diva album which features "Casta Diva" and "O Mio Babbino Caro". Put on a Maria Callas recording and an Angela Gheorghiu recording and you will see how it is Gheorghiu who is trying to imitate Callas while attempting to remain unique. I still think her fame lies in that we all want to see a resurrected Callas and she came back in the form of Angela Gheorghiu.

1 out of 5 stars Questionable casting... PERIOD!!!.......2004-03-26

Wow, it's not every day that you get to hear some of the worst casting ever in Puccini's most melodramatic opera. This is my favorite opera in the entire Puccini repertoire, and this recording is a flat-out embarrassment to the Maestro.

I can't stand the Sacristan's incessant dips in everything he sings... IT'S ANNOYING! And Alagna, whom is my favorite Rodolfo in his recording of La Boheme (which he also did with Gheorghiu), is using way too much shaky vibrato in "Recondita armonia." It seriously makes me dizzy, like I'm in a boat caught in a torrent on the high seas of the Atlantic!!! He's just plain silly about it! I think he just likes hearing himself.

Not much can be said for this most unremarkable of recordings... this is a huge black eye on the part of EMI, and I'm more than happy to bring it to everyone's attention before they make the mistake of buying it.

5 out of 5 stars Gheorghiu real star of this set.......2003-12-17

This is quite a good modern recording of a well recorded opera. The real treat of this set is Gheorghiu, who brought a real intensity to the role of Tosca not heard since Maria Callas in her legendary (and must-have!) recording of this opera. I still prefer Callas's version, because her 'Vissi d'arte' is absolutely glorious. Gheorghiu, while doing an adequate 'Vissi d'arte', doesn't quite rise up to the same level. Her strengths are in the dramatic segments in Act II and Act III. Her "muori!" is tinged with hatred and vengefulness, and her discovery of Cavaradossi's death absolutely chilling. The rest of the cast are adequate. Alagna is perhaps a little thin in the part of Cavaradossi. There are also cuts in the score, perhaps done for the sake of the length of the movie. The packaging of this set is also gorgeous. This is a good addition to the Callas/de Sabata set.

1 out of 5 stars Questo e il Bacio di Tosca!.......2003-11-27

Angela Gheorghiu is the worst lyric soprano ever. I've never heard anybody sing "questo e il bacio di Tosca" like that, it's too loud, even louder than Leontyne Price's RCA recording. I don't like it! Gheorghiu is not acting like herself here. She tends to act like Teresa Stratas at times for no good reason. No soprano should ever sing the "Questo e il bacio di Tosca" to Scarpia like that and Zinka Milanov will tell you so. Maria Callas will also. That's the limit of how those sopranos should sing it, not scream it! Stupid Gheorghiu, she is too dramatic. Period!

5 out of 5 stars Truly Madly Wonderful.......2005-03-16

This album is a compilation of the best of the first Savage Garden album plus remixes and B-sides. I've had this album for years and it still the sound is still fresh and new. Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones found a way to take us out of the grunge era and brought us into the the light of intelligent lyrics and pounding beats-this was the perfect start to a too short career.

    5 out of 5 stars Great B-Sides.......2004-11-21

I LOVE 'This Side of Me' and all of the other songs on this CD. Definatly worth getting. The TTMAB remix starts out very nice and 'is' a bit different than the original one..

5 out of 5 stars The best B-Side Album (in my opinion).......2004-02-23

Although Darren and Daniel are now persuing solo carrers this album can help you remember the times that were. This cd also shows that all of their work is good not just 1 or 2 albums. This cd has 5 B-sides plus many mixes.

Two tracks worthy of special mention are Fire inside the man and TTMAB radio edit.

They are brilliant. The TTMAB edit is equally as good as the album version.

Best buy this beauty quickly as it is becoming quite rare.

5 out of 5 stars Just perfect ;).......2001-10-24

If you really are a SG fan, this Cd is a must for you. I prefer this one to for example "Affirmation B-Sides", because there are so many unreleased tracks, which are awsome. For example, "Fire inside the man", "All Around Me", "Love can move you" and "Memories are designed to fade" are just great.

This CD is a little bit different from what you expect From SG, it's more rock and groovy;). The lyrics of unrealeased songs aren't that great, though,m also they are good as well. This Cd shows, how Savage Garden has developed during the years. Tha songs come from heart and they aren't too commercial. The only lack is that you can't find SG's best song "I Don't Care" from this CD, but hey, that's what "Affirmation B-tracks" or "Crash and burn" -single are for;)
