About the Artist
John Phillips was born in the U.S. but resides in London. Most of his day is spent in a large walk-in closet where he has his piano and a shrine to the Virgin Mary and Elton John. He is perfectly content as long as no one touches him, his vanilla wafers or his diet coke!

The Noisettes What's the Time Mr. Wolf might have a charming cover, invoking a sort of Flaming Lips playfulness. But inside the cover is a virtual mash-up, where the Yeah Yeah Yeahs collide feverishly with Sons and Daughters, losing the former's spooked mystery and the latter's raw blues but gaining a full-tilt forward heave. Shingai Shoniwa's voice is alternately scoured and sharp and then a chirp and a squall, lilting through lines like this, "ain't no honey from this bee... I'm stung you've got a hold on me" with a dancing acoustic guitar line, shuffling drums, and dub-tinged bass that colors the apparent lightness of "Count of Monte Christo" with a menacing glow. In the wake of "Count," the trio goes on a big, fast pounce for "Sister Rosetta," exploding for the refrain into an old-school punk rock maelstrom that's effervescent, like much of their debut album. --Andrew Bartlett

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING!!!.......2007-05-02

So I was at my local record store and I was intrigued by the Billie Holliday and Yeah Yeah Yeahs reference. The album was cheap enough to take a chance on and I'm very glad that I did. There are so many musical styles and theories going on in this album but they all equate to a rockin' good time! Imagine a band that can rock like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but with a front woman who has a great voice to boot. This is a solid album from beginning to end, not one bad song, and I can't say enough good things about it.

5 out of 5 stars Eclecticism of the finest (dis)order.......2007-04-24

The noisettes are a conceptual approach to sound that escapes the confines of pop music. They defy any single paradigm or set of assumptions, instead drawing upon multiple theories, styles, and ideas to gain complementary insights, leading us into a new dimension of sounds and thrills. To put it plainly, which is impossible with this trio - they rock!

5 out of 5 stars Hot Hits from Al Hirt.......2007-04-10

This CD has most of the hottest hits from Al Hirt. The performances are his best and the audio quality is awesome. I recommend this to anyone who loves jazz, dixieland or trumpet music.

5 out of 5 stars simply the BEST.......2006-09-10

Al Hirt's virtuosity stands alone in the long line of trumpet greats. This CD proves that... many times over... especially with the YET to be equalled "I can't get started with you" of Bunny Berigan fame.Al's power and technical ability just bowls over even the most advanced listeners/players who can appreciate his talent and expertise.Al's real talent came from showmanship and his likeable style and light to catchy pop and dixieland themes."Fly Me to the Moon" and "Out of Nowhere" exhibit the melding of raw trumpet power and sweet memorable renditions of wonderful melodies of the past, but"Bourbon Street Parade" shows how really great Al and his talented band was in the live arena. This CD provides all the moods and variations of Mr Hirt's unbelievable mastery of the trumpet. He is missed by many and this CD is a tribute to that great talent.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT COLLECTION.......2004-12-24

Al Hirt does have a way of showing himself approval of being the best out there. I still have some of his albums almost 'bout to collect a whole lot of 'em from the '60s and now. Excellent work from the man himself. R.I.P.

Album Description

This collection of old-time social and instrumental string-band music spotlights instrumental prowess. Old-time music features playing styles that pre-date bluegrass, emerging from the string band tradition stretching back to the early years of United States history. Both African-American and Anglo-American ingredients are at its core, the banjo having African origins, the fiddle European. Some of the most revered sources of old-time roots music-Dock Boggs, Roscoe Holcomb, Wade Ward, Tommy Jarrell, and more-are heard playing in their original styles. The Grateful Dead's cover of "Don't Let Your Deal Go Down" and Bob Dylan's rendition of Clarence Ashley's "Little Sadie" clearly attest to the continuing influence of these songs. Compiled and annotated by Jeff Place.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Mountain music magic.......2007-01-07

Here's another excellent compilation of material that originally appeared on various Folkways albums recorded during the last four decades of the twentieth century, all featuring old-timey country string band performances. The Red Clay Ramblers, The New Lost City Ramblers, Slim and Kirk McGhee, Doc Watson, Mike Seeger, and Clarence Ashley are just a few of the artists on this CD, and fiddles, banjos, and guitars are the instruments of choice. Whether it's Wade Wards wonderful banjo picking on the solo CHILLY WINDS, Mike Seeger's fiddle on BONAPARTE'S RETREAT, or the jubilant singing of Eric Davidson with the Iron Mountain String Band on SUGAR HILL, the music is rich in tradition and delightful to hear. Roots music fans will certainly love this CD, but so will anyone who enjoys old-time music from the southern mountains played to perfection. A most infectious CD, well worth acquiring.

4 out of 5 stars A Great Mix of Old-Time Music.......2005-10-10

This CD contains a superb selection of old-time string music and vocals from an era that currently seems to be overlooked by the country-western crowd, and, to a certain extent, even the bluegrass affcionados. Some of the recordings in the mix are obviously dated and not the highest quality, but these are countered by crystal-clear performances by such greats as the New Lost City Ramblers, Mike Seeger, George Pegram, the Spare Change Boys, Mother Maybelle Carter and Doc Watson. This CD contains fiddle tunes, waltzes, cloggin' tunes, spirituals, instrumentals and vocals that are pure and totally acoustic. I love putting this CD in my truck, rolling down the windows, opening the moon roof, and cranking up the volume, drowning out the hip-hop coming from the hoopdies in the other lane. It's a fantastic selection.

5 out of 5 stars mountain music at its peak.......2003-05-11

In this, the fourth of a series of collections culled from Smithsonian Folkways' massive archives, the focus is on the deep mountain music of masters famous and obscure, and the quality is uniformly high. Another plus is Jeff Place's excellent liner notes, which include informative annotations to each song or tune and performance. All told, this is the sort of thing that ought to make any devotee of Southern roots sounds very, very happy.

The performances come from both rural and revival artists, but the difference is academic, and the two meld into a seamless whole. Inevitably, a few songs are old, albeit never unwelcome, reliables, such as Dock Boggs's "Country Blues" and Clarence Ashley's "Little Sadie," but there are plenty of surprises, too. One has Maybelle Carter and Sara Carter Bayes reunited in the 1960s to do, interestingly, a song associated with the Delmore Brothers. The wonderful late-1960s LP -- never reissued in its entirety as a CD -- that Cousin Emmy recorded with the New Lost City Ramblers is tapped for an energetic, assured rendition of "Bowling Green" (also memorably sung elsewhere by the revivalist duo the Kossoy Sisters, and not to be confused with the Everly Brothers song of the same name). Roscoe Holcomb's "Trouble in Mind" is almost disorienting in its intensity, transforming a familiar song into something else entirely. There's Wade Ward's rocking banjo instrumental "Chilly Winds" (aka "Going Down This Road Feeling Bad") and Etta Baker and Cora Phillips's gorgeous banjo/guitar duet "Jaybird March." And there's everything else, too. If you're looking for mountain music at its peak, Smithsonian Folkways has -- as usual -- brought you there.

5 out of 5 stars Country Swing at its very best!!!.......2007-01-16

Asleep at the wheel scores big time, again! If ever there was group that could begin to fill the shoes of old time country swing, AATW would have to be right there at the top of the heap, without a doubt. If you like good swing & good fiddle, this CD is a must.

5 out of 5 stars Under the X in Texas.......2007-01-11

Anything by Bob Wills is high on our list, and nobody does Bob better than Asleep at the Wheel. Great compilation of some of the greats of the greats.

5 out of 5 stars Good compilation.......2002-11-06

Swing Time is a good compilation of some of the best songs from three other albums: 10, Western Standard Time, and their out-of-print 1974 Epic self-titled album. It's hard for an individual to put together a representative "best of" collection for a group like Asleep At The Wheel because they've jumped around from one label to the next, and the labels certainly wouldn't want to cooperate with each other. This is a good pick to represent the best of their work for Sony/Epic, if you don't want to collect all their recordings.

4 out of 5 stars Only 80% good........2001-12-01

Some good stuff (especially "House of Blue Lights"), but there are better covers of "San Antonio Rose", "Walkin' the Floor Over You", and especially "Hot Rod Lincoln" (by Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen ,almost as good as the original) out there.

4 out of 5 stars Good collection of miscellaneous songs.......2007-01-11

I tend to like No Doubt's odd collections, like BEACON STREET and EVERYTHING IN TIME, because the songs that are left off the albums (or done on the side or, in the case of BEACON STREET, recorded while waiting for other things to happen) are less slick pop and closer to their first album. I was a big fan of theirs before they were famous, when I was in high school, and tend to prefer their more ska and power-pop songs.

"Cellophane Boy," "I Throw My Toys Around," "Big Distraction," and "Full Circle" are the primary attractions of this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Everything In Time.......2005-10-07

First off, I would like to say that I love No Doubt (but though I love Gwen, and her music is good in its own way, I think that the solo career was a mistake). I think that they are the most talented band of all time, certainly the most talented band that I have ever heard. I just started to love No Doubt recently, and ordered all their CDs. Though this is a CD of B-Sides, I think that it is one of their best and that the songs should have all made it onto the records they were written for.

1. Big Distraction: 5/5. I love this song, I can't exactly explain why. The horn parts in it sort of sound like their early ska stuff, and I love the tune.
2. Leftovers: 4.5/5. Not my favorite on this CD, but it is good in its own way. It is a bit slow, and reminds me of a cross between something from Tragic Kingdom and Return of Saturn.
3. Under Construction: 5/5. I like the tune and guitar parts of this song. It reminds me of 'Six Feet Under' from Return of Saturn.
4. Beauty Contest: 5/5. A sad song, and has very deep lyrics. The phrase 'born to blossom, bloom to perish' is originally used in this song, but some of you may recognize it from Gwen's 'What You Waiting For?'. Wait until the last few seconds of the song, it's really cute!
5. Full Circle: 5/5. I love this song. The tune is really catchy, and the lyrics are good.
6. Cellophane Boy: 5/5. Another song that reminds me of a cross between something from Tragic Kingdom and Return of Saturn. Slow tune, not very catchy, but the lyrics are great.
7. Everything In Time (Los Angeles): 5/5. This song and Everything In Time (London) sound completely different, but they are both sad sounding and very beautiful lyrically.
8. You're So Foxy: 4/5. I like it, but it's just not one of my favorites. The verses are completely different from the chorus, and that's what sets it apart. On the inside cover of the CD, it said that this was a possible single, but if it was I don't think it would have even made it into the top 20. It doesn't sound like a song that you would hear on the radio.
9. Panic: 5/5. Love the lyrics, but the tune makes me all jittery. Another song where the verses sound completely different from the chorus.
10. New Friend: 5/5. This is one of my favorites from this CD. It's very reggae sounding, and the tune is so catchy! I think that this should have made it onto Rock Steady. Also, the song 'In My Head' from Rock Steady came from this song.
11. Everything In Time (London): 5/5. A very good song, great lyrics, but it makes me want to cry sometimes.
12. Sailin' On: 4/5. This was a cover song, it was originally by the Bad Brains. I like the way that they have adapted and made it theirs, their version is much slower than the original.
13. Oi To The World: 5/5. A really cool Christmas song. The lyrics are awesome, and though this wasn't their song originally, Gwen sounds truly great singing it.
14. I Throw My Toys Around: 5/5. This song was from the Rugrats movie, and features Elvis Costello. The tune is slow but catchy, and the lyrics are really cute.
15. New & Approved: 4/5. The remix is good, but goes on for too long. Personally, I liked the original better.
16 and 17. A Real Love Survives and A Rock Steady Vibe: 3/5. Catchy beat, but it isn't really by No Doubt. It mostly just has Miss Dynamite and Sweetie Irie rapping, and then occasionally has Gwen saying "A real love survives" in the background. Not my favorites.

5 out of 5 stars Read this!.......2005-08-10

No Doubt is one of those bands that trys new things, but still acts like.....themselves! They don't try to be someone that everyone likes, they just act like who they really are, and if fans don't accept them, then....fans don't accept them....but, saying that I would also like to add, that not everybody has the same taste---and therefore, don't always like the same genre of music.. but all I wanted to point out, is that Gwen is a beautiful hearted girl, and she loves being an artist and preforming and all that stuff.........this CD is one of the best that I've listened to in a really...really long time!!!! If you don't consider buying this CD, you're crazy!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!!.......2005-01-06

If you like classic No Doubt (tragic Kingdom & Return of Saturn), this CD is for you! I LOVE it! It's B-sides from when No Doubt was still Ska-ish--before Gwen started experimenting with the hip hop/R&B. There are a few--maybe 3 songs I don't really like that are remixes, but the other 15 are great! BUY IT!

4 out of 5 stars A Solid Punk Album.......2006-03-01

While it won't go down in history with And Out Come the Wolves..., Against the Grain, Punk in Drublic, or Dookie (nor will any Pennywise album), it is still one of the better albums of the modern punk age or whatever the hell you want to call it. To me, Pennywise is a cross between Bad Religion and NoFX in that they retain somewhat of a hardcore-edgy/semi-melodic sound but are also very drvien by more catchy, pop-like riffs and vocals. This album displays that sound very nicely, with some damn catchy and well-done tracks such as Peaceful Day, Every Single Day, and Killing Time.

The problem is that Pennywise is no where near the calibur of BR or NoFX, mainly because I think their sound is almost too straightforward and their lyrics too simple. And while I'm a huge fan of simplicity, this album just feels a little too plain. And as is the annoying thing with many punk records, all the songs sound the same. What makes it worse is that the track names are all very similar as well. But if you can get past that, I think this is a brilliant little album that is worth the pruchase for any fan of punk music

5 out of 5 stars Classic.......2004-12-14

This was one of the first CDs I've even owned. I've actually bought it 3 times because of over-listening scratches. Straight from the beginning this album shows you what it's made of, and what it's made of is classic new-age punk. This is a must-have CD for any punk rock listener and any loyal Pennywise fan.

5 out of 5 stars Pennywise-Live @ The Key Club.......2004-11-14

this cd is the best! 18 of Pennywise's best songs up to 2000 live! if your new to pennywise then buy this and you won't be dissapointed. If you already have this then get Full Circle or About Time next.

5 out of 5 stars Fight Song - Craziest 1:30 minute song out there.......2006-09-09

This album is really well done. Everyone out there should listen to the instrumental Fight Song! It has some really good drum work on the fast parts of the song, and will get you pumped for anything, especially a fight!

5 out of 5 stars Fun ska at its best.......2006-07-20

I love this CD. The Aquabats have a great fun way of playing music and telling silly stories. The CD has a lot of funny songs like The Cat With Two Heads. The entire CD will have you smiling and feeling like dancing.

5 out of 5 stars Easily Their Best.......2006-05-18

Although none of their albums are bad, this is by far the best one. The Fury of the Aquabats is 13 amazing songs that are hilarious and great to sing along to as well as 2 cool instrumental songs and one song im not crazy about (Attacked By Snakes). If you have the slightest liking for ska, funny music or just upbeat, fun music that makes you happy then this would easily be my number one reccommendation for you. All you need to do is pop it in and no matter how you were feeling before... you are guaranteed a smile after the first couple of seconds of Super Rad. It is just impossible to be sad when listening to these guys. My favorite songs are Super Rad, Red Sweater, Captain Hampton..., Story of Nothing, Idiot Box, My Skateboard, Lobster Bucket & Theme Song. This not only their best album but one of the best ska albums as well.

5 out of 5 stars the aquabats will always be top notch.......2006-04-17

It seems like no matter what these guys come up against, they still manage to put on a great live show and release awesome albums.

The Fury Of The Aquabats is probably one of my favorite albums that the band has ever released. Even if these guys aren't on a major record label with tons of funding behind them, they put their heart and soul into the music... which fans can really respect!

If you're ready for some funky up-beat ska music, I'd encourage you to purchase The Fury Of The Aquabats today. You won't be wasting any money by investing in these guys, i promise!

5 out of 5 stars My favorite and most listened to CD to date.......2006-03-15

I haven't listened to many other ska CDs, so I can't judge this compared to others; however it's a really great CD and I listen to it on a daily basis...really infectious. Especially good songs are Red Sweater and Cat With 2 Heads, though basically every song on this CD is worth a listen or 126.

In the early '60s, during the great Folk Scare, an organization called the Friends of Old Time Music (Ralph Rinzler, Izzy Young, Mike Seeger, Jean Ritchie, and John Cohen) brought some of the era's best folk, blues, and bluegrass performers to New York City. A number of them made their debut concerts there between 1961 and 1965, the period covered by this 3-CD set. Some of them are legends (Fred McDowell, Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys, Doc Watson) while others are lesser lights (Annie Bird, Joseph Spence, Fiddlin' Arthur Smith). Throughout this compilation, the sound quality varies, and not all is optimum. But even then, there's no denying such thrills as hearing Maybelle Carter announce she's about to perform the first song the original Carter Family recorded in 1927 ("Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow"). Often it's the little-known material or artists who deliver the biggest punch: Ed Young and Emma Ramsay running a shiver up your spine on the mostly a cappella blues dialogue "Chevrolet" or Jesse Fuller, the one-man band, proving a big, commanding presence on "Stranger Blues." Of the 55 tracks, only two have been previously released. All of them carry an air of excitement, as if everybody involved knew the winds of change were about to blow. Indeed, these concerts and others in the series made an enormous impression on rising stars of the genre, including a young transplanted Minnesotan born Robert Zimmerman. "You heard records where you could," Bob Dylan said in 2001, "but mostly you heard other performers... Clarence Ashley... Dock Boggs... You could see those people live and in person." Now you can hear what he heard, too. --Alanna Nash

Album Description

From 1961 to 1965, New York City's trailblazing Friends of Old Time Music presented 14 concerts that brought dozens of legendary traditional musicians before city audiences for the first time. This "folk arrival" changed the course of American folk music, expanding the vision of the Folk Song Revival and leaving an indelible mark on the musical landscape. For Friends of Old Time Music, Peter K. Siegel, who personally recorded most of the concerts, handpicked 55 tracks from the original master tapes. They include the first concert appearances by Doc Watson, Roscoe Holcomb, and Joseph Spence, and the triumphant return visits to New York by Dock Boggs and Mississippi John Hurt, who had made classic recordings in the city during the 1920s.

3 CDs of live concert recordings, 55 tracks (53 previously unreleased), accompanied by a richly illustrated 60-page book

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars truly great music.......2007-02-07

This is a beautiful piece of art. The voices are raw and real and the rhythm and tone of the instrumentals are terrific. Sorry am I gushing? The box set itself is gorgeous and the liner notes really tell a great tale. There are some CD's that you just want to download a couple of songs and forget the rest, this set isn't one of those. I love the whole thing. I can remember my father playing some of these songs with his friends, howling some of the harmonies. I remember the words of some of the songs I haven't heard anywhere else and probably would have lost forever if I hadn't bought this. I got one for my brother too, so he could remember.

4 out of 5 stars Review -Friends of Old Time Music.......2007-01-12

If you like folk music, bluegrass or blues, this is for you. A wide variety of this type of music is presented. All are the originals from 14 concerts that were presented in New York city from 1961-1965.The artists vary from Doc Watson to Mississippi John Hurt and include The New Lost city Ramblers, Bill Monroe and The Stanley Brothers.. Some of the recordings are now collectors items if you could find the originals.

A great addition to any collection of old time music.

3 out of 5 stars FOTM - Folk Arrival 1961-1965.......2007-01-11

This is a series or recordings made by the Friends of Old Time Music (FOTM) in NY in the early sixties. FOTM was formed by Ralph Rinzler, Izzy Young, Mike Seeger, Jean Ritchie, and John Cohen. These recordings have several well known people/groups (Maybelle Carter, Fred McDowell, the Stanley Brothers, and Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys), however, there are many "unknowns" like Doc Watson and Roscoe Holcomb. There is also some performers that had played in NY in the 1920's who have returned (Mississippi John Hurt and Dock Boggs). The quality of the recording leaves much to be desired, but these recordings are very up close and personal with the audience. You get the feeling you are back in NY in the 1960's sitting in a smokey club. This works better for the smaller and one person acts, and probably less well for Bill Monroe and his group. The very least known of these artists (Ed Young and Emma Ramsay and Jesse Fuller) put on quite a show playing the blues. I think you will enjoy the banjo, mandolin, and guitar playing of these excellent artists.
I would recommend this album as a slice of the Americana folk scene, but I am not sure you will play them (3 CDs) over and over again. It is more of a one or two time romp! This CD set is best enjoyed at home rather than in your car since the liner notes are excellent and the pictures stunning (unless you can miss all your fellow drivers while reading in the car... :^)

3 out of 5 stars old time music.......2007-01-10

Very uneven. some much better than others. In retrospect I probably wuoldn't purchase it.

5 out of 5 stars A great follow-up to Harry Smith's "Anthology of American Folk Music".......2007-01-10

If you like the "Anthology" that Harry Smith put together from 78's issued in the late 1920's and early 1930's then here is a chance to hear what was happening to that music thirty years later in live concerts. First, this album includes some of the same artists, like John Hurt, Sam McGee, Dock Boggs and Maybelle Carter, sounding as good as ever. It also includes wonderful performers of the period following the "Anthology" performers, like Fred McDowell and Jesse Fuller. You can hear pre-revival performers from the sixties, like Roscoe Holcomb, Gaither Carlton and Doc Watson. Finally, there are some top-rate performers performing some of the music that grew out of the "Anthology" type of music; while I'm not a blue-grass fan I enjoyed the cuts by Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers.
The audio is excellent, considering that these are live performances.
I was overjoyed when I attended these concerts and I am ecstatic at being given the chance to hear these performances again.

5 out of 5 stars Aquabats at their finest.......2007-05-15

This album is hot and cold, though more the former than the latter. I remember having the same impressions when it first came out, and I still feel it is their finest recording. You can almost taste the influence on southern californian sister band No Doubt's electronic Rock Steady (seriously) that came out 9 or 12 months later...

Much less "ska", the Aquabats have taken a new and entirely unforseen electronic / analog synth direction, while still retaining their strangely potent combination of occasionally pertinent lyrics, over the top Devo influences, catchy songs, and a full horn section. Awesome stuff.

When it's bad, however, it's pretty bad. I submit as exhibit A Lovers of Loving Life and one or two other disposables.

Once past that, there are some really cool songs, some of which are musically and / or lyrically quite dense, all of which are entertaining.

The whole album is extremely creative and also a testament to the talent of the Aquabats.

4 out of 5 stars Brilliant?.......2006-03-13

A vaguely uneven but enjoyable album perked with two of the greatest bizarre pop tunes I've ever encountered in a very long career of encountering bizarre pop tunes--Tiny Pants and Canis Lupus. If the whole album had been at the level set by that pair this could've been in the Top 100 Hall of Fame.

5 out of 5 stars truth is a harsh mistress........2006-02-13

if someone tells you this albums is anything less of amazing, punch them in the face and call them a liar. i can honestly say this is the best album of all time. people that dislike this album or think its mediocre are bad people. they are people who dislike amazing things and love bad things. so basically if you buy this album and enjoy you are a good human being and have a soul. but if you dont buy this album or do buy it and think it is horrible you are in with the group of bad people that don't deserve to hear great things or possibly even live.

5 out of 5 stars Hey kids, what do we got?!.......2005-09-13

Don't listen to any kids who say "Fashion Zombies!" is The Aquabats' best song. Just tune them out immediately.

I adore The Aquabats. Christian (The MC Bat Commander) said that this album was different. He wasn't lying, though I sort of discredited him at first considering he threw up rotten half-and-half all over some kid named Todd thirty seconds after he revealed in the brilliance of this album.

This album is an exploration into a whole new world for The Aquabats. If you've been a fan from the start, or just plunged into their world recently, be true to them and get this album! It's fanatastic! They have their insane, crazy songs, and some serious, meaningful songs that absolutely take my breath away. Case in point, "Hello, Good Night" is a gorgeous song about death, life, and finding meaning in what you have. It's so different for them, but they do emotional lyrics in a way that's totally their own, but also so easy to relate to.

Another amazing song on this CD is "Chemical Bomb", which holds deep insight to the fate of this world.

Looking past that, my favourite song is on this CD, "Lovers Of Loving Love". The Aquabats do love songs right! Fun, sweet, adorable, and absoultely lucious, I am in love with this song about being in love. And tasting cherry chapstick, ahh, ahh, ahh.

And wow, the cover art and inside booklet are so amazing and fun. I love to look at the art and the super rad photos. All of the lyrics are included with this CD, unlike some of their other CD's where in I had to look online to decode what Christian was screaming.

I don't know if ska fans will enjoy this, considering I like The Aquabats, not ska. But if you like good music, or you love The Aquabats, then this is for you!

3 out of 5 stars Not Good.......2005-09-06

This is the Aquabats worst outing and its pretty bad. Fury and myths are much better. But there new alblum Charge! is my favorite Fashion Zombies is the best song they have made. But if you liked them for being ska then you wont like Charge they almost have no ska on it and the horns are completely gone.

5 out of 5 stars Sound Track to your summer.......2007-07-24

Hepcat is a great American ska band. These guys have it going on and this albums grooves from the openning intro right through the closing number 'Open Season is closed'. The band is tight, the vocal harmonies are great, and they mix of styles from ska to rock steady to Carribean whatever is just good, good fun. Sound quality on this album is excellent. This will be on of those CD's that will note leave your player for weaks. Buy it and enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant.......2004-02-13

Having had the pleasure of seeing the band live in Amsterdam I can honestly say they are the best ska band in the world and deserve worldwide recognition.

5 out of 5 stars Uplifting & Fun.......2003-11-26

Great music to listen to any time and anywhere!!!

5 out of 5 stars Late Night Video.......2002-01-26

I was flipping through the channels one night and flipped past a Music Video. Something about it made me switch back. It was the Video for Hepcat's "No Worries". By the end of the Video I was hooked on the song. I spent the next several days trying to find the CD. I finally found a record shop in Redbank New Jersey that had the CD.
I was shocked they even knew who Hepcat was. I soon found out that this was one great band. I'm still addicted to "No Worries", and can't help dancing and singing when I hear it, but the rest of the CD is excellent also. This is one Cd that is well worth it's price.

5 out of 5 stars Never leaves the CD deck.......2001-03-04

This album is definitely my favorite out of my collection. Its soulful melodies, talented instrumentals and lighthearted lyrics will brighten up your day. This album also has many instrumentals, which is my favorite aspect of Hepcat's music. Tommy's Song, Pharoahs Dream, and Baby Blues are the ultimate relaxation songs! So go and get this album, play it on a sunny day and drift away to the shores of Kingston and Montego Bay!
