5 out of 5 stars Terrific talent from the streets of NYC.......2005-01-24

I'd seen Kathleen a few times playing her guitar and singing in the 96th St. #1/2/3/9 subway line in NYC, and each time I was captivated by the beauty of her voice and skill of her crisp guitar playing. So a few weeks ago I bought this CD of hers, one of two she has for sale. I can't wait to see her again so I can buy the other one.

Honestly, I bought the album without high expectations, more that I wanted to pay her respect for her talent on the subway platform. The album, however, is truly excellent. Her talent extends beyond great guitar skill and a striking clear, beautiful voice to tremendous gift at lyricism. Her songs are all completely engaging, variously haunting, inspiring, humorous, moving. She's backed by a small band on each of the tunes, with funky, spirited arrangments.

Generally the music is in the genre of Natalie Merchant, Tracy Chapman and Joan Armatrading, I'd say. Too bad such great talent isn't better known to a larger audience. I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you like the artists noted above.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent voice.......2005-04-22

This woman has strength, beauty and passion in her voice. I had heard her a couple of times on my way to work in the subway stations and was reluctant to get on the train each time as I wanted to hear more! Then when I saw her CDs in her case today, I had to buy it. This is a voice that can move you.

5 out of 5 stars Oh My God!!!! She is Amazing!!!!.......2004-01-22

I saw Kathleen Mock this evening at the 96th and Broadway subway station sitting down on the floor with her guitar singing "So Beautiful". She was so awesome I cannot put it into words. I could not believe someone so amazing was making money singing at a subway station. I bought her CD and she very kind in signing it for me. She seems like a genuinely nice person who has a phenomenally gifted voice. I really hope she gets the recognition she deserves for her voice one day and I strongly recommend her CD.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2003-12-20

I heard Kathleen singing one day while I was waiting to catch the subway to work. I was so moved by her beautiful voice, that even while standing in that cold, crowed, dirty, underground I felt transported to a beautiful place. God bless her for giving New Yorker's the gift of her voice. She is an amazing artist! I had only seen her once, when today I heard her singing as I descended the staris to the platform. I quickly snatched up her CD which she was selling, not wanting to miss her voice again. I am so glad I bought it, t's the kind of music that cuts to the very core of one's soul. Highly, highly recommend, I'm going to send her CD to each one of my sisters for Christmas!
