About the Artist
"Live your smile" is the philosophy by which singer/songwriter Sabrina Barnett, lives her life.

Her debut album, Come As You Are, captures this essence. Enthused with a rich blend of guitar driven pop, the album is a reflection of Sabrina’s view of life.

Not a stranger to the spotlight, Sabrina’s early success came in the modeling world, having graced numerous magazine covers, in the US and internationally. Sabrina’s modeling exposure includes pictorials in the coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Victoria’s Secret, and Elle. She has walked the runways in New York, Paris, and Milan. And she was featured in the hugely successful "Supermodels In The Rainforest" program, and more recently on Women’s Entertainment’s "Singles In South Beach".

"Modeling has always been a stepping stone" says Sabrina, "It has given me the opportunity to study with some of the best vocal coaches around the world. I’ve learned firsthand, all that really matters is someone’s inner beauty."

And while modeling continues to provide tremendous success for Sabrina, since she was a little girl, she had always had a dream… Sabrina saw herself creating and performing music. "I’ve always wanted to transpose experience into lyric… songwriting has been my therapy throughout my career." True to who she is, Sabrina’s passion has birthed an extraordinary 13 song debut album. Come As You Are, is a narrative and personal blend… baring her soul, embodying her drive, desire, and determination and her giving voice to her passionate outlook on life.

Written and recorded in under 9 weeks, Sabrina had the good fortune to work with Grammy award-winning talent including Tom Lord-Alge and Rudy Perez, who immediately recognized her abilities as both an artist and songwriter. Rudy Perez also offered one of his own songs, "Come As You Are", giving the disc its title track. Sabrina recognizes the effect of star power on the album… "I feel so blessed to have had such amazing people believe in me and lend their talent".

Exploring "Come As You Are" the listener discovers an album rich with emotion and reflective of past pain in tracks such as the first single, "Breathe Again". The song captures the awakening of an artist and the emergence we all feel with a new beginning. "Look What We’ve Become" and "Everyway" turn the bittersweet recollections of a faded love into the hope of tomorrow, while "You’re The One" speaks of the optimism of new love.

With her extensive background in travel, and her own ethnic blend of Sicilian, Haitian, and Cuban, Sabrina is a citizen of the world. Her fluency in five languages… English, Spanish, French, Italian and Creole adds credence to her belief that "I’ve always been a free spirit. All my life my mantra has been ‘Yes I can ‘. And now, Sabrina can add music to her list of successes!

Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.

This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.

The greatest songs ever?.......2007-07-26

I heard 'clear or cloudy', from this recording, on the radio recently and had to purchase it. It is strange but it is the sort of song that makes life prior to listening to it different from life after. I find it sad that so many people haven't heard it. There are also many other wonderful works in this collection. Given you get twelve well recorded CDs with top quality performances, this has to be one of the bargains of the age.

A musical treasure-box.......2006-09-10

Both the music and this actual product are masterpieces. John Dowland's collected works here - covering 12 compact discs - exhibit the depth and power of this composer, a composer who many now regard as suffering from clinical depression. I doubt that the issue of the diagnosis of Dowland's depression can ever be settled, however, it is certainly obvious from his music, so completely on display here, that he was a man with very dark depths and corners in his mind. Dowland's various manifestations and "takes" on his own tune, "Flow my tears"/"Lachrimae" are here. This tune has haunted me ever since I first heard it when I was a child. It seems to sum up Dowland's feelings - at least Dowland seems to have thought so.

The First, Second, Third and Fourth Bookes of Songes, A Musicall Banquet, the keyboard transcriptions, all the lute music, consort music are here and virtually everything else written or supposedly written by John Dowland. Anthony Rooley and The Consort of Musicke perform this music with style and feeling throughout. This 12 CD set is something of a monument to the ensemble - I only wish they'd finished their collection of Monteverdi madrigals, which was equally good (La Venexiana are currently doing a magnificent job of recording all Monteverdi's books of madrigals for the GLOSSA label).

This is an expensive set, however, you will probably never need to buy another John Dowland CD again after buying and listening to this collection.

I bought this CD set on a mild Summer evening of 1998 and listened to it while sitting in my sun room - which a glorious orange sunset in progress, and a glass of wine. It brought back so many memories.

a beautiful journey into melancholy.......2001-06-15

I'm amazed at how many people tend to associate John Dowland's music with a tragic sense of drama. While no doubt this is art highly based on sadness, the "tragic" sense of it is more a legacy from the Romantic period. During the Renaissance, however, sadness was undestood as a very aesthetic way of approaching life. That is also the reason why Shakespeare's tragedies appear more sophisticated than his comedies.

Dowland, a contemporary of Shakespeare, discovered that meditating on a sad theme is, at the same time, a way of discovering a special beauty that we tend to avoid (maybe because of the "tragic" heritage of the Romantics). So, in the end, meditating on sadness is an uplifting experience! This box set is a journey into melancholy that includes songs, chamber music, pieces for lute, some rare sacred music and -as a highlight- Dowland's beautiful collection of seven pieces for viola which he called "Lachrimae" (Tears).

With this follow-up to her 2003 hit debut It Just Happens That Way, the young saxophonist firmly establishes herself among the new generation of smooth jazz musicians. What she has over veterans is the impetus of youth. Firmly connected to modern-rock sensibilities, Abair can easily draw younger listeners with her 21st century rock-jazz fusion, particularly on the first two tracks and all three vocal tunes. Abair's singing here is head and shoulders above the vocals on her debut. However, she still has yet to find her own voice on saxophone. You can clearly hear the influence of Dave Koz, Boney James, and David Sanborn at various points. On the other hand, she does take more chances than most of her older fellow sax players usually do. There is no obligatory pop cover tune--it's all originals--and, more impressively, she's not afraid to show a young audience her roots with more traditional jazz takes on "New Shoes" and the blistering hidden track, "26 Hemenway," featuring Yellowjackets pianist Russell Ferrante. --Mark Ruffin

Once again, BOOK & MUSIC LOVER continues his/her rant against modern Jazz expressions (i.e. Smooth Jazz), thinking that he/she can stop fans of this genre from continuing to listen to their favorites. Just check out his/her personal reviews and see if you don't see a pattern .... "This isn't REAL Jazz" .... "so call Smooth Jazz" ..... "a step above elevator music". Mindi Abair is continuing in the Smooth Jazz community to fuse her vocals into her performances. My own personal preference is for instrumental Jazz without the vocals. If that's what you like as well, leave this CD for a later time .... check out Mindi's first album.

Maybe A Couple Of Steps Above Elevator Music.......2006-06-15

The Sax is very fluid instrament, and in the right hands, the horn can speak. But alast not here. The ruining of the Jazz genre, is today almost total, save for a few. Jazz should be palyed with real instaments, the electronic subs are sleepy time at best. A good Bassist, or even a more knowlegable drummer, and of course that horn. Jazz has a flow, a warmth, almost a life of it's own, when presented by musicans who know and understand what this music is. Where is the soul, where is the improvisional expressions. What is on paper should only be an outline. Get some real musicians and try this again. Sorry Mindi, and all you so called Smooth Jazz listeners. Oh Do not get me wrong, I like some Smooth Jazz. Let me see who comes to mind, Fourplay, and well give me some time to think.

A nice follow-up.......2006-02-27

This is pretty much like her debut, except, I'll have to agree with a fellow reviewer who pointed out "New Shoes" Yes, I think in this piece you can see a lot of raw talent. It is very sparse in acompaniment and Mindi's sax really shines thru. She plays more complicated passages and a real pleasant surprise among the smooth jazz tracks. I don't really care much for her vocal endevours. I am not saying that she can't sing, but her talent is in her sax and that's the reason I buy her CD's. So what I did is edited all the vocals from her two CD and put a Mindi- no vocals. It is terrific and really nice to listen to her play the sax alone. I wish she would concentrate more in this area, I think she can achieve the same success as Kenny G, if she keeps it up with her sax because her sound has a wide appeal and very easy to listen to, also she's a petite, pretty bubbly blonde who is a wonderful live performer. Right now there's isn't a standout Saxophonist, Mindi could do it.

Selections from the Greatest Voice of the Last Hundred Years.......2007-03-13

Mario Lanza was, arguably, the greatest tenor and greatest singer of this and the last century. It is difficult to appreciate him without listening to a variety of selections. This collection has some of his best recordings and exhibits the versatility and variety that he possessed that permitted him to "crossover" from opera to popular music with a ease.

I recommend this for those who already know Lanza to some extent but want to go into more depth and understand his marvelous skills.

I had forgotten what a beautiful voice Mario Lanza had. This collection contains opera and pop selections that exhibit the power yet sweetness of his voice. Fortunately, we have his CD's and videos so we can remember and listen to his gorgeous, vibrant voice and personality. I highly recommend this collection along with his wonderful movies, especially The Great Caruso.

WONDERFUL!!!!!.......2005-10-19

The Mario Lanza Collection is a three CD set and it has 61 songs and they all sound great. The mastering on this set is excellent and the song choice is very very good. It would have been perfect if they added a forth CD with more Arias, Italian songs and Sacred Arias. BUT still this set is a great introduction to Lanza. Lanza's voice was powerful and beautiful; if you are a fan of great singing, you will love Lanza. Highlights on this CD set are; Be my Love, Because your Mine, Serenade, With a Song in My Heart, Temptation, The Lord's Prayer, Ciribirbin, O Solo Mio, Ariverducci Roma, and on and on. Traditional Christmas Music .......2007-01-24

If you love traditional Christmas music, done in traditional style (i.e., no rock or jazz influence), this CD is for you. The Robert Shaw Chorale, the "gold standard" of quality choral music, sings much loved carols, with some lesser-known pieces as well. Some are a cappella; some include a full orchestral accompaniment. My favorites on this CD are "We Three Kings," "Bring a Torch, Jeannette Isabella," and "I Saw Three Ships."

This recording seems to elicit universal and heartfelt praise. Who am I to dispute that? The performance is terrific, just as described by the other Amazon reviewers, no doubt about it.

However, I do have one bone to pick with this recording. There just isn't enough of it. With material as good as this, that is a real loss!

A Top List Christmas CD.......2004-12-28

I bought this cd long ago, and have enjoyed it immensely each year. It is the perfect blend of celebration and meditation. Orchestra and choir combine in four distinct groupings, and a capella arrangements complete the masterful collection. The orchestral arrangements will make the hairs on your neck stand up, and your stomach quiver with all the excitement you ever felt as a child at Christmas. Adeste Fidelis is performed as few other ensembles have ever come close. The a capella arrangements will all, without exception, be on your yearly list of must-hear holiday arrangements. Truly a top list Christmas CD, essential for every family who celebrates this feast.

I own approximately 35 Christmas choral CDs - including choirs and groups such as the Cambridge Singers and the King Singers. I also own two Christmas albums with Robert Shaw and the Atlantic symphony. This performance with the Robert Shaw Chorale is old but it is still my favorite. The arrangements are magnificent, the sound is brilliant, and the choir and orchestra are precise with wonderful volume control. Buy and enjoy!

How do you describe perfection?.......2003-12-14

This is my favorite Christmas CD. Nothing comes close. I thoroughly enjoyed learning much of the music in high school choir over 30 years ago. The music has never left me. The four medleys are the arrangements of Robert Russell Bennett titled "The Many Moods of Christmas". The arrangements seem to have a freshness about them even after listening numerous times.

Interspersed with the medleys are a cappella carols.

All of this music is wonderfully performed by the Robert Shaw Chorale, the a cappella selections recorded in 1957 and the medleys in 1963.

Four decades have proven that this is the standard in choral music. The clarity of text, the richness of tone, the beauty of harmony combine to present the message of Christmas in the manner that only music can do.

These words are no surprise to those familiar with choral music in the United States. If you are not so familiar, but would like to enjoy Christmas music at its most beautiful, you can do no better than acquiring this CD.

The picture.......2006-12-11

I haven't purchased the CD but the picture of the inside of a church on the cover is not of a British church, like one would assume since it says its a recording of British choirs. This picture is of Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Just thought i'd let you know. I'll be honest; I'm one to judge things by it's cover and if the company took such care to choose a 'British' church for their British choir CD, I'm willing to bet the music is equally well selected... I'm being sarcastic. But I gave the product 5 stars because I didn't want to hurt its ratings just because i'm cynical. But check out the church if you're ever in Montreal, it's truly beautiful... here I'm not being sarcastic.

Thomas Hampson is a persuasive advocate for these treasures from the Library of Congress' vast collections, so this CD's generous sampling leaves you wanting more. It covers the American songbook in all its variety, from traditional "folk" items like Shenandoah to Stephen Foster to the immigrants Erich Korngold and Kurt Weill to Leonard Bernstein and contemporary composers. Hampson adjusts his flexible, light baritone to fit each song. The voice is full and resonant on Danny Deever, simple and direct in 19th-century traditional songs and ballads, and nuanced in songs like Ned Rorem's "As Adam Early in the Morning," one of several on the disc with texts by Walt Whitman. A standout is the last song in this recital, one that leaves you with thoughts about music, history, and our nation's continuing issues, "Ethiopia Saluting the Colors," by Henry Burleigh. Most of the selections are performed with piano accompaniment, but several are with a small ensemble of traditional instruments. A word of caution: everything was recorded in the 1990s and presumably was available piecemeal on previous releases, although few are likely to have more than a handful of these 20 gems. --Dan Davis

I don't think this recording deserves One Star ratings or that the artist deserves such crude bashing. And re: Hampson's eye-colour.... Uh, these aren't lenses? He has blue eyes. I met him many times and...indeed, they are dark blue.

Anyhow, this is what Hampson is focusing on right now, American song. While those aren't exactly my thing I have to say that he sings them beautifully. I wish he'd stick to that rather than heavy Verdi and Wagner which his voice isn't right for.

Yet another compilation.......2006-06-13

I am a huge Tom fan. I go to his concerts and buy all of his CDs. I must say that I have been disappointed by this CD because it's entirely made of old recordings. There's a new photo on the cover, but that's all that is new here. So if you've bought your share of Tom CDs over the years, you want to check out the track info before you guy this one.

Now, Tom has been on tour and I STRONGLY recommend that you go see him next year when he comes through your city.

The other thing really annoying is that on the CD where you'd expect information about the music or the recording co., you instead get a large warning label from the FBI on pirating.

how precious!.......2006-05-08

Thomas Hampson swoons and croons to monotonous effect throughout this tired collection; again displaying his ego and faux scholarship in ample measure. Oi-vay, what a disaster! And what is with the blue contact lenses in the Jacket phot? Hampson's eyes are brown. What an unbelievably vain Diva!

Disappointing Duplication.......2006-01-17

I have not even heard the album, and I will not. Although I revere Mr. H. in just about everything he does, especially in song and Lieder, I am very disappointed that so many of these songs appear on other cds of which I already have about 19 of him. I think he and the producers should have chosen totally NEW material for this instead of drawing on his past achievements. I have no reservations about his performances, for I have seen him at the Met in opera and at Carnegie Hall in Mahler. I value them and all of his past cd productions.

If you like this sorta thing.......2006-01-17

Here Mr. Hampson is in his element. Unlike his less than viable attempts at Opera, Mr. Hampson is a thorough and intelligent singer of songs. His affectations, so fully inappropriate in bigger operatic literature, work well with the intimate nature of these sweet and personal songs. If you are Hampson fan, this album will thrill you.

I love this album. They should make a movie based on the book PERFUME and call it SCENTLESS APPRENTICE and then they should use the music from the CD as the basis for the movie soundtrack. I could imagine writers of fantansy or medieval stories might find this music inspiring to listen to while they write.

I'd recommend this for any rock fan, even those who haven't heard Nirvana. (You probably have and just didn't know who it was.) Nirvana's artistic genius truly shows through this string quartet. Although I'm not ecstatic about Tom Tally's cover of "Something in the Way" it's not something I don't enjoy listening to. Todd Mark Rubenstein, however, does a fantastic job interpreting Nirvana. Or any band I've heard him do so far.

Although at first you may be put off by the idea of hearing your favorite rock in string quartet form, this CD should dispell any doubts. When done well, a string quartet tribute is at least as - if not more - valuable than the original.

Something different from your usual Nirvana.......2005-03-29

I heard this CD played in my friends car, and even though it was just some violins, I enjoyed it alot. I asked who it was, and they said "Nirvana". I was surprised, and looked around online to see that it was something called a String-Tribute. This is an awesome CD, with songs like Rape Me, Come As You Are, and Smells Like Teen Spirit remade with that orchastral feel to it. It's different, but in a good way. If you're not into this kind of thing, well, neither was I.

Something different.......2005-03-04

I have listened to many of the SQTs but this one is one of my faves. The renditions of Polly, Rape Me, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, and All Apologies are interesting, but the rest are just decent. One of my rules of buying a CD is if they have three songs you like then it is permissible to buy the CD. The people who impulse-buy b/c of a hit song like "The Macarena" are total numb-nuts. But that's my opinion. But for Nirvana fans I hioghly suggest this is you want to hear Nirvana transposed into orchestra.

well put together.......2005-03-04

I listen to nirvana frequently and when i heard this randistion of it i was pretty impresses. You can expect a band like nirvana to be well translated into instrumental. Or at least there more laid back songs. All in all i recomend this to anyone who would like to try somthing different. I thought it was well put together
