About the Artist
Steve Hall is a Steinway Artist and a native Californian. While majoring in History and Music as his minor, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California. Steve's professional career has involved playing at weddings and private parties in the Los Angeles area for the last 30 years. During the last 6 years, Steve has recorded 16 albums on his own label. Known for the interesting arrangements of his work, Steve's textural treatments of classic pieces weave a tapestry of atmosphere for the listener. Steve and his wife Robyn are raising three sons and feel blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to share this music with you.

These were my "teen years" and I did not realize what good voices most of the singers had and how beautiful some of the songs were. These cds transport me back to "the good old days". I am surprised that I remember most of the songs. I really, really enjoy this music.

Steve Hall plays the classics like I always wanted to as a child taking lessons. Classical, inspirational, and broadway music have always been my love. Steve Hall reaches all with a passion. My hobby is painting--so on days I indulge in my "passion" I turn the CD player on loudly with Steve Hall music and make beautiful "music" of my own. Added instrumentations(on various CD's) from harp, bagpipes, and brass on some are a treat. This CD is one of 5 Steve Hall CD's I have--I love them all.

The Fontane Sisters; Bea, Geri and Margi Rosse were from New Milford, New Jersey. They Performed with Perry Como on his Radio and Televison Shows in the Early Fifties. In 1951 They Had a Minor Charting Hit with their Version of "The Tennessee Waltz". Includes Three Tracks with Perry Como. This is One of the Very Few Currently Available CD Collections of their Music.

There are only 12 tracks on this cd, so it is kind of a short one for the Time Life Music "Classic Country" series, and the cover art on the cd doesn't match the others in the series, but "Country Memories" is one of my very favorites in the series. Every song is not just good, but great. Really great. I was surprised to find one of my all-time favorites, a very rare song "This Ole House" by Stuart Hamblen on this cd. This is truly an awesome old country song, and there is a fascinating story about how it was written on the leaflet inside, along with some really interesting country music history. "I Can't Stop Loving You" by Don Gibson, "He'll Have To Go" by Jim Reeves, "Detroit City" by Bobby Bare, "Green Green Grass of Home" by Porter Wagoner, "Make the World Go Away" by Eddy Arnold- what more can I say?

Sing it, Sister!.......2007-07-05

This album, recorded later in Sister Rosetta's career, shows she still had it. She can sing it sweet, sing it soulful, or rock out. This has a nice song selection, and she was in fine voice (and HOT on that guitar!) when it was recorded. One thing I like better about this cd than "Live in 1960" is that she has a back up band (piano, organ, percussion, and bass, which adds a little more dimension than just her and her guitar. Highly recommended if you prefer her electric guitar work.

A RARITY.......2005-04-29

Artur Nikisch is one of the legendary conductors of the great era of classical music. Not so many people know about him because he has not been recorded so much, unfortunately. He played in Wagner's performance of Beethoven's 9th! and then he worked with Liszt and Bulow. His performance of Beethoven's 5th is legendary despite the noise and the bad quality of original recording (1913), but it is so powerful and sounding... Karajan once told he would have given everything to hear Nikisch conducting! If you are not familiar with historical recordings, just forget about this cd. Two other pieces by Liszt and Berlioz seem to sound better (recorded in 1920). I think this cd is more affordable, compared to the DG set of historical recordings of Beethoven's music, for whoever likes to hear Nikisch conducting Beethoven's 5th.
