About the Artist
InnerVoices is the newest and smoothest pop/R&B trio to hit the West Coast, as well as the latest Southern California artists to make their mark on the Asian American music scene. After recording their first single in mid-1999, InnerVoices joined the Unity MusicWorks roster to produce their full-length debut album, "Heart, Mind, and Soul." The phenomenal instrumentation and intricate vocal performances that characterize this album are what promise to make it an instant favorite among fans.

InnerVoices began in 1995 when several close friends from Oxnard, CA, formed a vocal group. They started out by performing at various high school and community events and quickly gained the attention and admiration of fans throughout their hometown and beyond. Angelo Arce, the Heart of InnerVoices, serves as the group's pianist, composer, and vocal arranger. Toby Preciado, the Mind of InnerVoices, is the group's percussionist, guitarist, keyboardist, and recording engineer. Lew Soratorio, the Soul of InnerVoices, handles the group's choreography and most lyric writing. All three are lead vocalists as well.

Unity MusicWorks is Southern California's leading Asian American music label and has been representing, showcasing, and producing Asian American musical talent since 1996. Evolved from a small production company and resource network, Unity MusicWorks continues to promote emerging talent from the community through live performances, artist development, special events, and album projects. Once a vehicle by which to independently produce and record music, Unity quickly emerged as a talent development team well on its way to becoming a leading independent music label in the Asian American community. With the eventual expansion of its key internal departments, Unity MusicWorks has become fully capable of providing production services, marketing and distribution resources, performance outlets, and many other tools that have proven vital to the success of today's emerging artists.

Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.

Top Shelf.......2007-01-04

This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.

The greatest songs ever?.......2007-07-26

I heard 'clear or cloudy', from this recording, on the radio recently and had to purchase it. It is strange but it is the sort of song that makes life prior to listening to it different from life after. I find it sad that so many people haven't heard it. There are also many other wonderful works in this collection. Given you get twelve well recorded CDs with top quality performances, this has to be one of the bargains of the age.

A musical treasure-box.......2006-09-10

Both the music and this actual product are masterpieces. John Dowland's collected works here - covering 12 compact discs - exhibit the depth and power of this composer, a composer who many now regard as suffering from clinical depression. I doubt that the issue of the diagnosis of Dowland's depression can ever be settled, however, it is certainly obvious from his music, so completely on display here, that he was a man with very dark depths and corners in his mind. Dowland's various manifestations and "takes" on his own tune, "Flow my tears"/"Lachrimae" are here. This tune has haunted me ever since I first heard it when I was a child. It seems to sum up Dowland's feelings - at least Dowland seems to have thought so.

The First, Second, Third and Fourth Bookes of Songes, A Musicall Banquet, the keyboard transcriptions, all the lute music, consort music are here and virtually everything else written or supposedly written by John Dowland. Anthony Rooley and The Consort of Musicke perform this music with style and feeling throughout. This 12 CD set is something of a monument to the ensemble - I only wish they'd finished their collection of Monteverdi madrigals, which was equally good (La Venexiana are currently doing a magnificent job of recording all Monteverdi's books of madrigals for the GLOSSA label).

This is an expensive set, however, you will probably never need to buy another John Dowland CD again after buying and listening to this collection.

I bought this CD set on a mild Summer evening of 1998 and listened to it while sitting in my sun room - which a glorious orange sunset in progress, and a glass of wine. It brought back so many memories.

a beautiful journey into melancholy.......2001-06-15

I'm amazed at how many people tend to associate John Dowland's music with a tragic sense of drama. While no doubt this is art highly based on sadness, the "tragic" sense of it is more a legacy from the Romantic period. During the Renaissance, however, sadness was undestood as a very aesthetic way of approaching life. That is also the reason why Shakespeare's tragedies appear more sophisticated than his comedies.

Dowland, a contemporary of Shakespeare, discovered that meditating on a sad theme is, at the same time, a way of discovering a special beauty that we tend to avoid (maybe because of the "tragic" heritage of the Romantics). So, in the end, meditating on sadness is an uplifting experience! This box set is a journey into melancholy that includes songs, chamber music, pieces for lute, some rare sacred music and -as a highlight- Dowland's beautiful collection of seven pieces for viola which he called "Lachrimae" (Tears).

The picture.......2006-12-11

I haven't purchased the CD but the picture of the inside of a church on the cover is not of a British church, like one would assume since it says its a recording of British choirs. This picture is of Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Just thought i'd let you know. I'll be honest; I'm one to judge things by it's cover and if the company took such care to choose a 'British' church for their British choir CD, I'm willing to bet the music is equally well selected... I'm being sarcastic. But I gave the product 5 stars because I didn't want to hurt its ratings just because i'm cynical. But check out the church if you're ever in Montreal, it's truly beautiful... here I'm not being sarcastic.

What can I say...I recommend this album. This album has some of the best songs ever written. This man is absolutely talented. "Got to be Real" is perfect. El DeBarge outdid himself!

One of the Best Albums that I Heard from 1994.El Debarge teamed up with Babyface&what a team they made?"Where you are" with Stevie Wonder on Harmonica was tight.El brought the Pain again on vocals.Jermaine Dupri Produced "Slide" which worked."I'll Be There" has a strong resemblence to a Spinners cut easily.El hasn't had a Offical Album released since but has done alot of session work with DJ Quik,Quincy Jones amongest others.He has been Sampled&Looped to death from BlackStreet,2Pac,Mary J.Bliege,Biggie,Ashanti,etc...El Debarge is the real deal with Hsi Talent.this Album worked really well.some of the Best Production that Babyface has ever been associated with.
