Customer Reviews:
Soul Calming Music from a Troubled Life.......2006-02-10
This CD contrasts musicians taking on the world with a quiet resistance to the methods most artists use to become famous. With a deep reluctance to promoting himself, Nick Drake's withdrawal from his life becomes a true tragedy.
As if too beautiful for this world, Nick Drake seeks to show his talents in a much more reserved manner. His unconventional approach is more introverted and gives insight into the life of a true artist who seems to have wanted his art to stand on its own, like a gift to the world. Introverts will understand this attitude all too well and understand this desire to present beauty to the world and quietly slip away.
What is most ironic is the fact that an extremely troubled mind produced some of the most soul calming music I've ever heard. One can only imagine the music he could have continued to produce if it was not for his untimely death. Accident or suicide? Maximum Nick Drake gives insight into the struggles and decisions of an artist who turned pain into beauty.
