5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2006-11-11

I love this album besides the singles: sweetest sin, with you, take my breath away and angels.I definetly think "I have loved you" should've been another single maybe instead of sweetest sin or angels.Anyway this is a great album it's worth more buying than baby one more time.

1 out of 5 stars YUCK, YUCK, YUCK.......2006-10-03

How can ANYONE say this chick has talent?!!! My God, she is sooooooooo bad. And yes, I actually listened to it. The only reason it sounds semi ok is because she's got millions backing her and that much technology could even make me sound good! She doesn't write any of her songs and she can't hold a tune. Gives Celine a run for her money? Please!!!! The only singer she sounds better than is Paris Hilton! But whatever. If you like it, that's all that matters. If you like pretty young pop stars, Christina Aguilera is MUCH better. She can actually SING!!!

4 out of 5 stars It's consistent, but not real fun.......2006-07-08

Like many of today's biggest pop stars, Jessica Simpson would not have become so famous had it not been for a trademark behavior (in her case, absolute stupidity) that pushed her into infamy. Britney Spears, the original female pop superstar, delivered a look that could kill and dirty-fun pop music classics, but Simpson, though talented, did not have anything nearly as sinful or indulging as "...Baby One More Time," "Oops!...I Did It Again," "I'm a Slave 4 U" or the Grammy-winning "Toxic." But she did get married to another out-of-the-big-leagues boy bander named Nick Lachey and decided to do a reality TV show about their first year of marital bliss; though it proved to be a great marketing move shooting both Simpson and then-husband Lachey into pop superstardom (something both of them had publicly longed for), In This Skin did not do well on the charts or commercially until Newlyweds made Jessica infamous (again, for making stupid remarks). There is no doubt that if it had not been for the aforementioned TV show, Jessica would still be happily married but in search of a new record deal. In This Skin is, at best, consistent, but hardly anything to write home about; the standout track here is "With You," a song that doesn't seem to be nearly as delightful now that the divorce from Nick Lachey became final (since it was co-written by Simpson for him). The pop star, in the past known for her soothing vocals, has never sounded more horrific than she does here, trading in her swoops and swoons for Britney Spears-like growling and breathiness; this aspect only further hurts the already iffy album, and the lack of any radio-charting songs (sans for "With You") makes it a forgettable album. Consistent? Yes. Great? No.

1 out of 5 stars NEW IRON MAIDEN CD COMING OUT SOON.......2006-06-29

WELL,GUYS JESSICA SIMPSON IS THR WORST OF THE WORST.SHE SINGS AS BADLY AS SHE LOOKS.THIS CD IS VERY,VERY,VERY BAD.AVOID AND WAIT FOR THE NEW IRON MAIDEN CD WHICH SHOULD BE OUT SHORTLY.

5 out of 5 stars 'In This Skin' is a MASTERPIECE.......2006-06-16

Okay. To some of you who probably want to buy this album but look at the rating of the album, just look at what some of the people post. They say random things and dont even review the PRODUCT.

Most of you probably know 'In This Skin' as Jessica's hit album, which has sold 3 million copies to date, her biggest album to date and gave her countless hit singles.

Jessica shows off her powerful voice and works it on tracks like "Angels" "My Way Home" "Loving You" and my personal favorite "I Have Love You" where she gives Celine a run for her money. The girl has natural talent. She's no Britney.

The album has catchy songs such as the pop hit "With You", the club banger "Forbidden Fruit" and the breezy island title track "In This Skin" which has a positive message for all teens to be beautiful in their skin. Jessica not only provide amazing vocals on this album, but she has positive messages and despite what the media calls her, she is a good person and talented singer.

Probably my best purchase of 2003, definately worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Return to Sanity.......2005-07-27

Before Monty Python, before the Beatles, before "'Enery the Aigth Oi Am" there was the subtle, sweet, insdious humor of Flanders and Swann, and their lyrics remain part of the recognition rituals of Ivy Leaguers of the sixties. For any aging hippies or yuppies who find life WAY more stressful than we ever expected, and for whom the down side of alcohol, sex, and drugs has become apparent, I recommend listening several times to "In the Bath". It raises a cry for peace among the nations by inviting all the leaders to sit congenially steaming in a communal bathtub. And they reminding us of our essential self-interest when they add the proviso "as long as Swann and Flanders get the end without the taps." On those nights when we suspect that there isn't any point to it all, reach for the Flanders and Swann. They won't convince you there is any meaning to life, but they'll make it a lot easier to bear. Don't even try to do without it.

5 out of 5 stars Have Some Madeira.......2005-07-06

Not every line in Flanders and Swann has become part of our 37-year marriage, but many have. As our turntables fail, we are pleased that we can relive all the fun stuff we used to collect. Nothing is like this duo, especially what you usually hear as French horn by Mozart converted into "I found that horn go(r)ne." And, of course,
"Have some Madeira, m'dear" is an all-time favorite.

5 out of 5 stars British humour at its best.......2003-03-15

When I started out as a teacher of English, I had the most wonderful colleague as a mentor -- when she retired she gave me three LPs with much of what is on these CDs, and it must be one of the best gifts I have ever been given. Practically all of it makes me smile or laugh out loud (although I must admit that some, like The Armadillo and Slow Train, make me so melancholy that I can just feel my lower lip tremble and my eyes fill up). How can you beat lines like "Hail to thee, blithe Wompom", or "The English are moral, the English are good / And clever, and modest, and misunderstood"? I find they make great listening exercises for my teenaged students as well -- they consider it ancient, but incredibly funny!

5 out of 5 stars If you haven't heard this..........2003-01-16

The great comedic pairing of the late Michael Flanders (vocals) and Donald Swann (piano and occasional vocals) must surely rank among the hall of fame of comic singers and songwriters. Descended from the British music hall tradition, these two men wrote and performed music which still sparkles with wit today, some 40 or more years since it was recorded.

After being told to take up singing as a means of strengthening his polio-weakened lungs, the wheelchair-bound Flanders teamed up with pianist Swann and proceeded to write such classic songs as "The Hippo Song (Mud Mud Glorious Mud)", "The Gasman Cometh", "The Gnu Song", "A Transport of Delight" and many others. As well as a gently satirical spirit, all these songs feature the sublime wordplay and interplay of both men.

The first two discs of this box set are actual concerts - "At The Drop Of A Hat" and its successor "At The Drop Of Another Hat". Recorded at the height of the duo's popularity and form, the sound quality is surprisingly good for recordings this old.

"At The Drop Of A Hat" opens with three of the Flanders and Swann classics. "Transport Of Delight", a song in praise of the "97 horsepower omnibus" features the wonderful harmonies of the duo on lines like "any more fares" and Flanders' dead-on impression of a London busdriver "Geddardait, we're full right up inside". "Song of Reproduction" deals with the new, as it was then, stereo technology and features Flanders delivering an incredible monologue using every conceivable piece of audiophile jargon. "The Gnu Song" (in which "gnu" is pronounced phonetically) is a real treat. The audience's reaction to the reappearance of the gnu is superb.
As well as this opening trio, the disc features Flanders' snippets of "Songs For Our Time" (in which he experiments with conventions of hit songs), "Song of the Weather" (a rundown of English weather throughout the year), "The Reluctant Cannibal" (featuring Swann in the tititular role and the chorus "I can't eat people/I won't eat people/eatin' people is wrong"), Swann's foray into Greek folksong "Kokraki" and the justifiably famous "Madeira M'Dear". The performance ends with a rousing version of "The Hippo Song".
Flanders is in fine voice throughout and his comments introducing each song are delivered with deadpan accuracy. The story behind "The Gnu Song" is an absolute masterpiece. Flanders' monologue about the creation of "Greensleeves" is also superb - "'Greenfleeves'. That's an interesting name for a fong" (referencing old English script) being just a taste.

"Another Hat" begins in equally fine form with "Gasman Cometh" and "Ill Wind". "Gasman", presaged as "a tale of unending domestic upheaval", is sure to have most people who've ever dealt with unreliable tradesmen nodding in agreement, while "Ill Wind" is Flanders' attempt at setting words to a French horn concerto featuring the immortal lines "I lost that horn/lost that horn/lost that horn/found that horn/gorn". The performance continues with Swann's Russian/English song "In The Desert", the ending of which is truly side-splitting. "All Gall" (a reinterpretation of "This Old Man" to fit then-French President Charles de Gaulle) is a little dated but very cleverly done. "Song of Patriotic Prejudice", with its introduction and opening lines grabbing the audience's attention is another triumph, while the "Hippo Encore" is a great end to the performance.
Again Flanders is at his peak. His loving description of the Spanish olive-stuffers ("Olividados") and his superb story about flying ("By Air") are both brilliant examples of the shaggy dog story.
My favourite from both of these discs would have to be "First and Second Law". Flanders decides to educate Swann in elementary science and picks on the first and second laws of thermodynamics ("heat is work and work is heat" and "heat cannot of itself pass from one body to a hotter body") and the repetition of these phrases in time to Swann's barely-there piano accompaniment is one of the finest moments in British comedy.

The third disc is largely forgettable. It begins with a series of animal-related songs performed in a studio and without much of Flanders' rambling introductions. "Warthog" has its moments, while the others were clearly not performed in front of an audience for a reason. "Wompom" is also mildly diverting, presenting a story about a made-up substance which is the answer to everything.
The rest of the disc is then filled out with much earlier material in a rather poorly-recorded concert. "20 Tons of TNT" (related to the calculation the pair had done which gave that as the amount of TNT per person on the planet at the time) provides food for thought, but little more.

Is this box set for everyone? No. Much of the humour both within and without the songs does require a bit of background knowledge to what was going on in Britain and Europe at the time (1960s), John Profumo is referenced a few times as well as Charles de Gaulle and the Common Market, while a smattering of classical music knowledge can help out a bit with Swann's work and "Ill Wind". The fact that my grandfather (who's in his late 70s) recalls hearing these songs and laughing may give an indication as to the age of some of the subject matter. Equally the fact that "First and Second Law" references an awful lot of physics might do the same.

Nevertheless, for anyone who loves British humour done in a gentle manner or who is interested in the source of "mud mud glorious mud/nothing quite like it for cooling the blood", give these CDs some serious consideration.

5 out of 5 stars Gentle Satire.......2002-04-03

I've been singing Flanders and Swann every day In the Bath since I first heard them in 1964. If you don't know them, think Gilbert and Sullivan by way of English music hall and Noel Coward, with a bit of Tom Lehrer musical satire and classic Bob Newhart or Charlie Manna monologues. F&S commented gently on their times: "The purpose of satire, it has been rightly said, is to strip away the veneer of comfortable illusion and cozy half-truth. And our job, as I see it, is to put it back again." Quite simply the best comic songs and patter of the 20th century. Michael died in 1975, Donald in 1994. Goodnight, Mabel Figworthy, wherever you are.

Here are some samples of Michael's verbal wit.

Wordplay:
- "A Transport of Delight," their song of the pleasures of the double-decker bus "has recently been adopted as the theme song of the Underground resistance movement."
- Speculating that Henry VIII wrote Greensleeves: "and the royalties go to royalty."
- About a tennis referee late in the day: "the umpire upon whom the sun never sets."
- Explaining how he was hoisted in his wheelchair onto airliners by a fork lift: "Why they need a great machine like that to lift forks I do not know. Well, they're only plastic, now, aren't they?"
- On status symbols: "The object is to Gunga Din your neighbor: 'I'm a better man than you' is the acid test," and, "let's bang our status cymbals with the best."
- To a disenchanted cannibal: "You used to be a regular anthropophagi."
- Of a lecher: "And he said as he hastened to put out the cat, the wine, his cigar, and the lamps," while the girl "lowered her standards by raising her glass, her courage, her eyes, and his hopes."
- At the corrida d'olivas (the Andorran festival of olive stuffing, not to be confused with the Spanish corrida de toros, or bullfight): "And a great cry goes up of Ole! He has made an 'ol."
- "It's no good going up to a scientist and saying to him like you would to anybody else, 'Good morning, how are you, lend me a quid, and so on.' He'll just glare at you, or make a rude retort."

Throw-aways
- During the height of the cold war the Soviet Union sent the Moscow Ballet on a world tour. Donald sang one chorus of the Hippopotamus Song "mud, mud, glorious mud - nothing quite like it for cooling the blood" in Russian. Michael: "That should improve our cultural relations."
- During the 1963 Mandy Rice-Davies and Christine Keeler scandal: "None of that going around saying no smoke without fire. Nil cumbustibus, Profumo." Also, from "Friendly Duet," "such models of friendship are precious and rare, while the friendship of models is not."
- "Now if you're writing a musical, as I'm sure practically all of you are, . . ."
- Of Donald: "You know that no one has a higher regard for your music . . . than you do yourself. I merely meant that you are not great because you are not dead. If you wish to be great you must stop composing and start decomposing."
- "We never found a rhyme for (Soviet Premier Nikita) "Kruschev" until he was dead: Did he die or was he "pushed off"?"
- "We spent two dreadful, uh, delightful years, entertaining the Americans whose need, let's face it, is greater even than yours. Of course, when we're over there we say that the other way 'round."
- "No matter what you may say about the Germans, and who doesn't . . ."
- "Some of the songs that have made our names a household word, like slop-bucket . . ."
- "They've started testing cars now. They started at 10 years, then 5, now three. There's even some talk of having them tested before they leave the factory."

Absurdities
- "I'm delirious about our new oven fitted with the eye-level grill. This means that without my having to bend down the hot fat can squirt straight into my eye."
- A spectator during the construction of Stonehenge: "So, it's not going to be lived in. Well, that's something anyway. So what is it, then? It's a what?! A calendar?! A bit big for a calendar isn't it? You'd look pretty foolish with that on your desk."
- "Donald knocked himself out this morning. Got one of those new pop-up toasters. Nasty things."

Incredible multiple rhymes:
- "The fair hippoptama he aimed to entice from her seat on her hilltop above, as she hadn't got a ma to give her advice, went tip-toeing down to her love."
- Of Josephine: "Nonsense, said Bonaparte. She lives on her own, apart, in her own apartment."
- "Oh let us be married if our parents don't mind. We'd be happy and inseparable. Inextricably entwined. We'd live happily every after, said the Honeysuckle to the Bindweed."
- "And you'll always see a single lace-less left-hand leather boot. A bootless British river bank's a shock. We leave them there at midnight, you can track a member's route by the alternating print of boot and sock."

5 out of 5 stars In This Skin.......2005-11-16

Jessica wrote 9 of the 11 songs on "In This Skin", and they are all from the heart. Jessica has continued to mature with each album, but this one shows exactly how far she's come. She shows just what her beautiful voice is capable of, and every single song is sung with tremendous emotion. She found her own sound and voice, and unlike many artists today, did not produce a "trendy" sounding CD.

Song by song:

1)SWEETEST SIN (9.5/10): The first single off the album, and it is sexy and smoldering. Jessica's breathy vocals create very intense mental images.

2)WITH YOU (10/10): This song is a light, upbeat song talking about how being truly loved for who you are is the most liberating thing in the world.

3)MY WAY HOME (9/10): This song has a great downbeat and slinkyness to it. The melody is very enticing.

4)I HAVE LOVED YOU (10/10): I love this song--the melody, the vocals, it's just a beautiful song that was made for Jessica's voice.

5)FORBIDDEN FRUIT (8.5/10): Probably the most "pop-y" song, but kind of has an old school Paula Abdul vibe, not trying too hard to be hip. You can get into the beat of this one!

6)EVERYDAY SEE YOU (9/10): A sweet, beautiful song that makes you forget all your problems and just relax for 3 minutes. Very soothing

7)UNDERNEATH (9.5/10): A wonderful, powerful song that describes love at it's most passionate, and every bit of that passion flows through Jessica's voice.

8)YOU DON'T HAVE TO LET GO (11/10!!): The best song on the album. Jessica wrote this song for her father, and it is the most touching, poignant, amazing song I've heard in a long time. It actually brought tears to my eyes. It shows what an amazing person she is to have this much gratitude towards her father for making her the person she is today. Her voice is spectacular here. If this song doesn't at least give you chills, then I give up!

9)LOVING YOU (9.5/10): My favorite up-tempo song on the album. Has a great groove. Another incredibly sexy and sultry song.

10)IN THIS SKIN (10/10): This is probably the most revealing song on the album. Jessica tells about her insecurities, but it is very motivating in that it emphasizes being comfortable with yourself. A very touching and uplifting song.

11)BE (10/10): The best "love" song in my opinion, on the CD. It talks about hope and happiness and what love really feels like.

Jessica bares her soul and we see her vulnerabilities and her passion for life, love and family. She has truly found the "skin" she is comfortable in!

5 out of 5 stars Okay not the best..........2005-10-17

Okay she is no Mariah Carey (although often compared to her. Jessica doesn't song write as well as her.) She has Britney Spears appeal (although not as good as her.) Not as smart as Mandy Moore (wow it's a pattern) and doesn't have good voice compared to Christina Aguilera. She is average at all of them making her not have something that makes her the best. She does have the best realtiy show out of all of them. She is good at the moment as she is playing her cards well. Good for you Jessica Simpson.

3 out of 5 stars In This Skin.......2005-09-15

I bought this disc after having enjoyed her second - I thought that Jessica had a really terrific voice and was curious to see how or if she'd improve with this disc. Immediately after listening to it and also watching her "perform" on Newlyweds, anyone can see that she has developed a weird affectation when she sings now - where before it seemed effortless, it now seems that she's straining and has become one of my least favorite pop music performers to see.

The songs that I really enjoy are those where she sings her tush off - others sound like a bad Britney interpretation so I guess if Jessica is more serious about her music career as opposed to her current career as a celebrity then I'd be curious to see what her next studio album will sound like.

The songs that I really like from this disc are: Sweetest Sin (although it starts off very "Britney-esque", it gets better), My Way Home (really interesting string background, her vocals are great on this song), Everyday See You, Underneath, You Don't Have to Let Go & Be.

5 out of 5 stars Review for the DVD.......2007-01-15

I prefer you to buy this product as it is DualDisc instead of the normal disc, but this DualDisc costs more expensive though, but you get an awesome extras such as:
1. Newlyweds Scenes from the first season (promise you, after this scenes and if u haven't watch Newlyweds, you will buy the DVD!!)
2. Jessica and Nics's wedding (so sweet and beautiful)
3. Music Videos of Angels and Take My Breath Away (this is not so good, I want the music video of With You and Sweetest Sin to be included)
4. The whole album listening, with photos.
5. Jessica in the Studio
6. Discography
7. more..

For Jessica fans, and if you are about to buy In This SKin, this dualdisc is a perfect one for you.

5 out of 5 stars I don't like Jess.........2007-01-12

..before until I heard some songs from it and the hit reality show: Newlyweds. This album became a success because of Newlyweds though.. somehow I was surprised after I listened to some songs from the internet, of what this album offers.
This is her best album to date,, I prefer this instead of A Public Affair but A Public Affair contains mostly fun and upbeat song, while this has many simply peferct ballads that everyone can enjoy and love it and a really great beat song like "With You".. Guys, you wont get dissapointed after you buy this album, and for Jessica haters who think this album is a crap, after you listen, your bothering mind that says this album is a crap will shut up. So.. check this album, her voice is so stunning especially in "Angles". A Must Have Pop Album!!

YOU CAN HATE JESSICA, BUT SORRY. YOU CAN'T HATE THIS ALBUM.

4 out of 5 stars Consistent and mature--but unmemorable.......2006-11-22

Forgive Jessica Simpson's oft-questionable dumb blonde antics since the girl does have talent. Putting aside horrific tracks like "Forbidden Fruit" (sorry, but Jessica just doesn't fit into the club-ready pop category that Britney Spears dominates--she's too sweet) In This Skin is a pretty decent record by Simpson Standards. There are some low moments like her previous discs have showcased (such as the how-did-it-make-the-cut-to-be-on-record song "Loving You" and, of course, the tepid club pop attempt that is "Forbidden") but overall Skin is one of Jessica's most consistent (and mature) releases. Her once-impressive singing abilities are lackluster-sounding here, coming off both forced and contrived as she incorporates Britney-like groans, moans and breathiness--but overall this CD bubbles with jovial love (since at the time of its release Simpson has just married then-hubby Nick Lachey), as evident in nice mature songs like the shimmery "I Have Loved You" and "Underneath." The title track tells of the buxom blonde's realization she never needed to be anything but herself in the first place (her bubbly personality is a huge reason she gained such infamy after the reality TV show Newlyweds shot her into pop superstardom) and is quite a decent song at that. "Be" is dedicated to Lachey and (though likable) isn't as memorable as the one hit single here, the bumbling "With You" (also dedicated to then-husband). Overall In This Skin shows us a talented performer coming into her own--and for that reason alone she should be commended. Now if only her material was as likable as her persona!

1 out of 5 stars Again?!.......2005-06-08

Okay, this album has been re-released TWICE now!! Come on, Columbia! How greedy can you get?! With this, all you're really getting is the same exact thing from the first re-release plus music videos for Angels and Take My Breath Away! I'm getting sick and tired of record companies repackaging new products and adding extra "features" to suck money out of people's wallets! I've already repurchased this album once and I'm not doing it again! If I want to see the music videos, I can go to Launch or Jessica's website!

5 out of 5 stars J. Simpson.......2005-05-18

Jessica Simpson hit the pop market with the admirable debut her 1999 Sweet Kisses turned out to be, but hit the backburner to top teen queens Britney Spears (1998) and Christina Aguilera (1999) despite her impressive vocal malismas. In 2001 her sophomore effort turned out to be marketed as a second Britney, and although a full-listen pop/R&B piece, Irresistible's lack of originality kept Simpson a B-lister to the likes of Spears and Aguilera. In 2003, her current CD (In This Skin) hit the shelves backed by the decent pop ballad "Sweetest Sin," but due to lack of sales and popularity it appeared Jessica's 15 minutes of fame were up; but due to a hugely popular MTV reality show called "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," the now-Mrs. Lachey hit No. 2 and Columbia Records put out a reissued version of In This Skin featuring two new covered tunes. Jessica Simpson has been on the public's radar ever since but for the wrong reasons: a true musician? Possibly, but not now. This diva-in-training has become another cash cow for the industry due to statements such as "Is this chicken or fish?" (Chicken of the Sea-brand tuna, courtesy of her first season of "Newlyweds"); and though In This Skin features some nice but not-top-40-material material, Jessica's third release is just an ok piece of fluff. I think the cd derserves an overall higher rating so I am not taking marks off although I believe it doesn't deserve 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars A Comic-Opera Treasure!.......2007-01-28

Dittersdorf is a sort of working-man's Mozart; in fact, this opera sounds similar to some of Mozart's early operas. But Mozart sought to break the rules and to explore new musical ideas; Dittersdorf is not an innovator...yet he is no less a master! This performance, too, is a materpiece of refined (not always!) comedy; the arias include some extremely difficult vocal leaps and trills, yet the primary joy is the witty verse. W.H. Auden (no less!) ramrodded this translation to English. And Anna Russell, famed for her "Analysis of Wagner's Ring Cycle" steals every scene she's in! Ad-libbing shamelessly, her introductory aria, all by itself, is worth more than the purchase price!

5 out of 5 stars an obscure delight!.......2002-07-31

Eleanor Steber's image on the cover of this set caught my eye while rummaging through the cut-out bins of San Francisco on a recent opera whirlwind. What a lost treasure this performance is - recorded "LIVE" in NYC 1965! All the principles shine, their energy ebullient. Don't hesitate, buy it and smile before it disappears.

5 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for..........2005-06-10

First off, I just want to say that I LOVE the String Quartet Tribute series... I recently discovered these CDs while planning my wedding and am so glad that I did. It's so nice to be able to incorporate modern music into the ceremony without having to worry about the "appropriateness" of the vocals. In addition to the tribute to Jessica Simpson, I also have the String Quartet Tribute to Coldplay. I'm completely satisfied with them both. Granted, I'm by no means a musician, but I do have the ability to appreciate great music. And I feel that these CDs are definitely worth looking into. :)

The songs on this particular album are great - in my opinon, anyway. I especially want to remark on the CD's version of "Take My Breath Away" - absolutely beautiful. I had been looking for an instrumental version of this piece to walk down the aisle to and found exactly what I was looking for on this CD. :)

5 out of 5 stars good single CD.......2005-09-01

I am glad that "In this Skin" was the other song on the "Sweetest Sin" single because it is one of my favorites from Jessica. It is a good positive song. I recommend this single, and it's a great price on Amazon too.

I love this single, i just had to buy it. She sounds so amazing.

3 out of 5 stars NOT HER BEST BUT STILL POP!.......2003-10-17

Sadly Pop has been vanished from Music Radio Airplays, Jessica Simpson will suffer in the process, not for not having any talent, because that's something that she has, specially her voice!!!!, this song although is not her best, it's fair to say that "Sweetest Sin" would have well done managed to get to the charts back in 2001, but 2003 it's a bad year for any pop attemp, I believe that some of her ballad on her top 10 album"In This Skin" are way better than this track, even the b-side "In This Skin" sound more radio friendly than this, the song doesn't shows a hook, but still a great message and of course again voice!, this is cheap, is a single, so give it a try it's worth it. So you can see what the radio aren't playing, and what else is in music besides Sean Paul, Beyonce, Nelly, and P Diddy, and did I forget the "Magic Stick" oh nononono Lil' Kim and 50 Cent. Not that only Jessica deserves a chance, but Mandy , Mariah, Kelly C., Whitney, Toni B., and many others that will vanished from the music era if the radio don't start playing them.

4 out of 5 stars Good, but not as good as "Irresistible".......2003-09-21

This song I found kind of strange when I first heard it. When you hear the opening music, it sounds like it's gonna be a ballad, then it's a mid-tempo song. It sounds like it can't decide whether it's a ballad or not. It's pretty good, but I like the song "Irresistible" and the songs on "Irresistible" much better than what I've heard so far on "In This Skin".

      5 out of 5 stars PERFECT PORTER.......2001-06-27

It will be a remarkable feat indeed if this recording of Porter standards is ever surpassed. Feyer, a classically trained pianist, has a remarkably deft touch and an uncanny knack for the driving, rhythmic vitality of Porter's music. Acoustic guitar, drums, and other percussive instruments provide an essential, but unobtrusive, rhythmic foundation throughout. Thirty-four pieces are packed onto the disc, one often merging skillfully into the next, to form a series of three colossal medleys. Although recorded in the pre-digital era, the sound quality of this Vanguard Classics disc equals or surpasses the best contemporary recordings. If you like Porter, this one's a sure bet; if you think you don't like Porter, this one will change your mind.
