5 out of 5 stars I love this CD.......2006-04-12

This is one of my favorite albums in my collection...Great songwriting, guitar playing and vocals. Also love her other two cds! Just keeps getting better...

3 out of 5 stars Riding the real talent.......2005-12-27

Thank God for all women that create music. But let's get something straight here. This cd is a direct rip-off, down to the copied photo lay-out of Cathy Jean's blues rockin' album in 1998, "I Want". Cathy Jean came way before you-- it's a compliment that you want to be her, don't we all??

5 out of 5 stars A really great electric blues CD.......2004-12-09

Melanie Mason is truly an artist who's musical roots run very deep into her love of both Country and Delta Blues and the later Texas, Chicago and Memphis electric styles. In my opinion Bendin' the Blues is one of the most finely crafted CDs of mainly original tunes to have come out in a long while. Her lyrics are emotional, passionate and also insightful and thoughtful, combined with her smooth vocals that easily hold their own with, if not surpass anyone else currently out there performing, no matter what their status is, and her extremely impressive guitar ability, all speak in a powerful, new and fresh voice for Blues music.
From track one through track twelve, this is a great CD no exceptions, I highly recommend it. I look forward to all future offerings from this very talented lady.
Also, definitely catch her live if you get the chance, you will be glad you did.

3 out of 5 stars Not buying the hype.......2004-10-01

I'll concede that Melanie is a solid songwriter and vocalist. However, I must be honest in pointing out that her guitar skills are sophomoric, at best and that the "triple threat" that some speak to just isn't there. A close listen to her songs will find predictable, pedestrian melodies and her guitar playing skills simply don't begin to approach the level expected of her contemporaries. Does she have promise? Certainly - but, I'd be surprised to see her gain anything much beyond regional acclaim. Unless, of course, she really works on her guitar playing, or hires a decent lead guitarist.

5 out of 5 stars Destined to be a big, big star!.......2002-10-13

Melanie Mason is on her way to stardom! Her original lyrics, delivered with the punch of Janis Joplin and accompanied by the guitar plucking of an Eric Clapton, make for an ideal combination. As excellent as this recording is, don't miss the opportunity to hear Melanie live, either acoustically or with her band. Buy this CD now!
