There was a reference on Star Trek at one point about the influence of William Shakespeare's plays - you couldn't fully appreciate a play like "Hamlet" until you read the "original" Klingon version.
Which is a bit like listening to Beatles songs in French - to be fair, these versions keep the Beatles music, song structures, etc. If you know the Beatles songs, no problem here, just the lyrics are all different. (except for "Michelle", of course, some of which was already in French...)
A couple of things get changed in translation - for example, the song "Girl" has the French title of "Je l'aime" which means "I like it." Hmmmm.....I guess "Fille" wasn't as catchy. "You Won't See Me" becomes "Je veux savoir", which means "I want to know". And "With a Little Help From My Friends" becomes "Soldat de Bois", which means "wood soldier"....huh?
I guess this would be a great album if you speak only French, or a little French, or want to learn French... good for French class sing-alongs, I guess.
This is essentially a compilation of French (or French Canadian) acts covering Beatles material during the 1960's, when almost everyone was hitching their wagons to the Fab Four's star by singing their music. The final track is from a 2003 WWF benefit album.
Note: this album ships in a double-CD case, but it is NOT a double album. The extra space is needed for a book of photos from a Beatles concert in Montreal in 1964.

classic 101 strings.......2001-07-05

This is one of the quintessential recordings of 101 Strings doing what they do best: cheese. For those with a masochistic penchant for kitsch and late '60s era elevator music, 101 Strings were the alpha and omega of the Muzak scene. This record is pure mood inducing nostalgia. Kick back your lazy boy and pretend that you are in a dentist's chair with blue, green and yellow oversized floral print wallpaper all around. To some this is Hell, but to a few of us, this is pure Heaven. I think you might have had to have lived through it and hated it thirty years ago to really appreciate it now. Drive down the street with this blasting out of your car and you'll get ALL the chicks.

Expected symphony sound, and got this. Parts sound like high school band. Try to be "tricky" with intros that lead into each song that start you off with bad taste in your "ear"

I bought this album hoping to hear orchestral Beatle music. What I got was elevator music, and not very good elevator music besides. The Beatles' songs have attracted any number of alternate arrangements in the past, but this one takes the cake for lack of quality.
