A True Sign That Britney Will Come Back!.......2007-05-15
The first track, Do Somethin' Album Version [3:23] has the regular sounding song many have already heard. While the previous albums displayed a young bubble gum pop sound, this CD single is like her latest album in that it has a transition to a more mature sounding Britney. The musical messages bring to the limelight of how sometimes guys stare, yearn, and look; yet they don't take the initiative to make the first move. The music has a combination of pop, soft rock, and hints of dance creating a nice blend of sounds!
The Enhanced CD Portion has the following:
(1) Do Somethin' Video [clocking at 3:23 album version]. Here you will see Britney with her friends rocking out on the dance club, staring at potential interested guys that look and stare but take no charge in approaching.
(2) The second video is the Megamix Video [clocking at 3:47] with the following song clips: Baby One More Time, (You Drive Me Crazy) Crazy, I'm A Slave 4 U, Outrageous, Oops! I Did It Again, Stronger, Everytime, and Toxic. These are all of Britney's hits that made her the hot sensation many have come to admire and love from the earlier eras to the present.
While Britney may have run into some rough patches, truth be told her devotion to her career at such a young age accompanied by her drive and ambition are a true sign that she is always a classic and not a quitter!
Do Somethin'.......2006-01-01
Britney made her directorial debut with the music video for "Do Somethin'," though she had assistance from previous Spears collaborator Billie Woodruff ("Born to Make You Happy," "Overprotected"). Britney requested that she be credited as "Mona Lisa" for the video, her apparent alter-ego for when she yells and gets angry.
After an opening scene in which the camera takes the audience through a metal tunnel leading up to a door reading "Mona Lisa," we find Spears and her crew performing a dance routine. Next, the girls make their way into Britney's pink hummer and drive among the clouds in the sky. As it turns out, their location is a club named Hole in the Wall. Once at the club, Spears and friends attempt to liven things up by dancing suggestively, seeing as everyone there besides them are stiffs. Following their dancing, they get up on stage and toy with the guys at the bar. The ending of the video has Spears singing at a microphone with her friends as her band.
-----------------
With Britney disappearing from everything but the gossip columns as she "takes a break" from the music scene and gets shacked up with hubby Kev, this release has a fusty whiff of the posthumous about it. Luckily, it's the kind of full-on pop explosion which blows away the cobwebs and is almost (almost - let's not get too excited) as good as Toxic. Ok, so it's not entirely convincing to hear Britney singing a consciously "street" styled "Why dontcha do su-hin?", but there's sass by the bucketload and more hooks and snappy beats in these few minutes than in the entire back catalogue of lumpy old Jennifer Lopez.
I LOVE BRITNEY .......2005-08-28

You betta DO SOMETHIN'!!.......2005-11-19
Other than the edited remix, this is a slammin club track.......2005-10-28
It's really unfortunate that they had to give us the edit of the DJ Monk mix. Even so, while that mix is good, it is the Thick Vocal mix that is going to blow your mind. A throbbing, driving electro dance vibe, this is one that would have your body freaking out on the dancefloor. Plus, you get the added bonus of the previously hard to get Valentin mix of Everytime as a bonus.
Britney Does Somethin' Amazing!.......2005-10-12
Now, we all know there are plenty of you out there who like to criticise Britney, whether for her outrageous acts, her seemingly unrestrained sexual exploits or whatever else you people like to throw, but you seem to fail to realise the women standing on the receiving end of your vicious swipes.
Britney is very young and has I would presume, had an amazing opportunity with such magnitude of fame so quickly; who are you to dare judge her or treat her as a focus for morals and values.
Yes, Britney may well be an icon to many other younger women, but is surely _NOT_ her job to teach or provide an appropriate role model; are you an appropriate role model in your actions?
Britney is a young women who has had an amazing opportunity. Nobody, repeat nobody forces you to listen to her music or accept what she stands for. If you don't appreciate, like or accept the image or connotations of her then that is your own business, it does not give you the right to criticise her and it certainly does not give you the right to have expectations of her!
You people criticise her because of her music. It's either too Pop, or it's too much trying to be Hip/Hop or whatever else, but this is the music industry. Britney is there first and foremost to earn a living. Yes, Britney may be considered a Pop artist, that doesn't mean she is unable or not entitled to use influences of other music genres in her music. So damn what if 'Do Somethin' may be considered a little 'Rock'; it sounds brilliant.
I've heard people say 'this song is dumb', well Can't Get You Out of My Head may be considered dumb but that was an instant hit. Christmas carols may be considered dumb but we still sing them. This is not a question of the song being 'dumb'.
The very fact we're all sat here discussing Britney only goes to reinforce the massive impact she has had on our society. You say you dislike her, if that's so you wouldn't waste your time writing up posts about her, only to inform us you 'didn't like her song'.
Britney, to some people, will never be able to do right from wrong. Whatever direction she goes in she will be under the pointless criticism of people like _you_. Well, somehow I think with Britney's birth, husband and bank balance, I don't think she is loosing too much sleep over your comments.
Yes, Britney is mass marketted and that can be a little tedious, but Britney would not be there if Y-O-U people out there did not buy her albums.
Britney is the star that she is in today's society and the reason is because Y-O-U allow her to be that star.
As for me? I think it's wonderful for Britney and I congratulate her on all her success. I wish the very best in the future; for her marriage and her new born child.
Good luck Britney, and when you return to the studio, ensure to give the world that classic blend of Pop-meets-Rock-meets-R'N'B that we all love and enjoy (even if some people are a little shy to say!)
