The follow-up to Fairy of the Woods, Fairy NightSongs, and Fairy HeartMagic finds Gary Stadler back at the piano spinning out lush emotive songs that conjure moonbeams, star-blanketed nights, and enchanted forests. Layers of light synthesizer, Lisa Lynne's dreamy Celtic harp, and the fantasy language lyrics of fine new vocalist Stephannie dance with Stadler's soft-pedaled playing. Fairy HeartMagic, rather than featuring starkly individual pieces, plays more like slightly varied movements of one unified piece, just right for pre-slumber, soft-focus Saturday mornings, or unwinding after a long afternoon. While not written specifically for children, little ones will find this frolicsome but gentle music pleasant to the ears and soothing to the psyche. Stadler, whose songs often begin as bedtime songs for his wife, has composed and arranged a dilly of a lullaby for the magical landscape of vision and reverie. --Paige La Grone

Album Description

Acclaimed composer Gary Stadler (Fairy of the Woods, Fairy NightSongs) takes you further into the world of ancient Celtic lore, featuring extraordinary " Enya-esque" vocalist Stephannie and Celtic Harpist Lisa Lynne. Together they take you on a soul-healing journey into a place where innocence and wisdom are one. Listen, and your heart will be renewed with a mystical beauty.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Actually 14 tracks.......2007-03-20

I was going to rate this 4 stars, because I was unhappy to find so many instrumental tracks. They are pretty (though nothing special), but there are 6 of them. Out of twelve that's disappointing, but then I read the booklet and found that there are an additional 2 tracks you can get on the computer. One of them is called Story, which is more of a spoken poem; the other I'm not sure but I'm calling it Far Away and it's very beautiful.
A lovely album altogether.

About the extra tracks, you can get them only on the computer. For windows I'm not sure, but the 'presentation' doesn't work on my Mac. However, you can access the folder called 'gary media' and drag the tracks to iTunes (or your desktop). Along with the two complete songs, you also get a lot of sample songs for other albums.

The booklet that comes along with the CD explains how to get the tracks, and has the lyrics for the 12 tracks on the CD. Pretty artwork!

Very different from the first Gary Stadler CD I got, Deep Within a Faerie Forest (the tracks in addition to being beautiful are also cool), which I recommend, but Stephannie has a sweet voice and the songs are pleasing to the ear with a few treasures.

5 out of 5 stars Very Soothing.......2007-03-02

Do you need some soothing, yet uplifting background music? That is what I was looking for, and I was not disappointed! It is suitable for an adult, who I purchased it for, as well as children for quiet times. I will be checking out more titles from this artist.

5 out of 5 stars Enchanting~.......2006-03-09

I disagree with Marc Ruby... Stephaine has a beautiful voice.
Its my fav of all the Gary Stadler Fairy cd's..Stepahine's voice takes you to another time..another place.. I love it! Wish I could find more of her but so far have been unable to..
This Cd is definalty worth your money!

3 out of 5 stars Definitely off the beaten path.......2005-11-09

This is a CD I enjoy. It is definitely not within the mainstream of most musical styles. It was the inclusion of Lisa Lynne on a couple of selections that encouraged me to buy it without having heard it. Generally, I was not disappointed although this CD doesn't inspire me as much as some other New Age and Native American music I have.
For me, the treasure in this CD is the song "Sa'Brooke", which features Stephannie singing softly over gentle, evocative music in a gaelic-sounding language which, according to the insert, she essentially came up with herself. Her voice is sweet, passionate and inspiring in a simple melody which perfectly compliments the gentle arrangement.
"Deanash", though nice, is basically "Garden of Dreams" without the vocals or orchestral arrangement. The same could be said for "Heartmagic", a piano solo which is really "Sa'Brooke" without the vocals or orchestral arrangement. To my ear, these two variations represent a failure on the part of the producer to avoid repetitiveness.
It is a good CD for background ambiance while reading or writing.

4 out of 5 stars Fairy This, Fairy That........2005-05-02

This is the kind of album that pushes me into a new age crisis. While there is nothing inherently wrong with it, the fact that Stadler opted for a 'cute' title and album cover is a warning that the potential for great silliness in the name of a music genre lurks in the bushes.

For the most part, this never materializes, although my slight deafness reduces the impact of lyrics that are a bit lightheaded. Musically the album is sometimes hackneyed (angelic choirs, etc.), but always pleasant to hear. Little moments, like Deanash make up for the less successful parts and overall I rate this album as good background for contemplative or creative moments.

This album was originally intended for performance with Singh Kaur. Unfortunately, the singer died before the recording and Stephannie took Singh Kaur's place. Unfortunately, I say, because Stephannie's voice has a 'little girl' edge and breathiness that was totally absent from Singh Kaur's. This gives the singing a trivial sound when it deserves better. On the bright side, though, is Lisa Lynne's appearance on harp. Essentially, this is a break-even for the listener.

Frankly, I would go with Fairy Night Songs and only buy this album if it is exactly your cup of tea. New age vocals are difficult on a good day and you are likely to be a bit disappointed. Listen to Fairy Night Songs and Sa'Brooke - you will see what I mean. But the instrumental work is good. You will have to decide for yourself.

As a fan of celtic music, I sincerely believe that Heart of the Celts is most astonishing CD I've ever heard. I've often said, that this is the music I'd like to hear as I leave this world!!! I've shared this CD with many friends, who share my love of this CD. Unparralled!

5 out of 5 stars Spellbinding, moving and magical.......1999-12-10

Karen Matheson and Connie Dover's voices are magnificent. If you enjoy Celtic music, this CD is a must. Love songs are even more enchanting when you can't understand the words (some songs are in English, though)! The music really draws you in. I find myself playing it over and over. Came upon it at a 1/2 price book store by accident, what a find!

Narada has done it again!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful voices.......2007-07-05

This album has beautiful, timeless songs sung by women with beautiful voices. I love albums with "various artists" because I always get introduced to artists that are new to me.

5 out of 5 stars Great music.......2006-03-22

I first heard this album on a trip to Ireland. The women artists on this album epitomize the soul of a beautiful land--the cd quality is awesome--I recommend to all who want to expand their tastes.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Celtic Music by Irish Women.......2005-03-04

I have loved this CD for years. We got it from Ireland but lost it, and then I found it again on Amazon. It is a great introduction to Celtic music and excellent women performers. So many of the songs are simply beautiful, and the women all have different styles and voices. You will find yourself humming this songs for years to come. Excellent CD.

5 out of 5 stars A Woman's Heart--Gorgeous.......2004-12-11

So beautiful. Six amazing celtic singers/musicians collaborate to create one of the most transporting albums ever. You will never be the same after listening to this. It almost has too much emotion-you will be in tears by the end.

From slightly energetic to passionate to mournful to just plain gorgeous, this is a must-have cd. These ladies have such beautiful voices-and for them to share this wonderful music with people all over the world is such a gift.

You don't find music like this that often-don't let it slip out of your hands. This is a transforming journey. You will come out of it healed and a better person. If one cd deserved the term "beautiful and life-changing," it would be this one.

5 out of 5 stars Exquisite album, but...........2003-10-14

But one fact must be made clear.

"A Woman's Heart" (the title track) is NOT a Mary Black song!

Eleanor McEvoy wrote and sang "A Woman's Heart". Mary Black only sang backup.

5 out of 5 stars Never Disappointing.......2007-01-10

Michael Hoppe's music is always wonderful. I have really enjoyed the choices of arrangements on this cd. It plays in the background and is soothing and adds to a clearmindedness as I do accounting work.

5 out of 5 stars SHEER PEACE.......2002-03-02

Even with the synthesized music, Michael Hoppe touches your soul with each piece. The enchanting music cocoons you from everyday life and leaves you in a perfect realm of contintment. This CD has added immensely to my collection.

4 out of 5 stars Soaring loneliness.......2000-08-30

Listening to Michael Hoppé's music is like being transported and flown by the altitude of the notes. The sound of the flute, viola and piano are so magically peaceful and calming. I would like it more if it doesn't have synthesised music there though, as the earthy sound of the flute and the viola would have come stronger.

My favourite album by Hoppé and Wheater is still "Afterglow", though. Listen to Afterglow for an evening together with your loved one, but keep "The Unforgetting Heart" for those nights alone and enjoy the soaring lonely tunes.

3 out of 5 stars Enjoyable.......2000-02-03

I really like Hoppe's compositions. I couldn't help wondering how beautiful they might sound if he had used an orchestra rather than a foundation of synthesizer.Nice.

Amazon.com

Since it was released a decade ago, A Woman's Heart, a survey of Irish female singers and instrumentalists, has become one of the best-selling Celtic music albums ever, and volume 2 sold almost as well. The present incarnation reunites the original participants but also includes Irish-American voices. Dolly Parton's "In The Sweet By And By" and Alison Krauss's "Down To The River To Pray" recall an old-time Appalachian tent revival. Accordionist Sharon Shannon and The Wild Bullocks resemble a hip ceili big-band on "The White Strand Sling." The Corrs obsess over an attractive deceiver on "I Know My Love," while Sinead O'Connor is tenderness incarnate on "This Is To Mother You." But Dolores Keane's rendition of "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" is beyond poignant. Her silky alto, flanked by a mournful cello, two male singers, and a distant children's choir, imbues a classic anti-war ballad with renewed urgency and pathos. --Christina Roden

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars An amazing CD!.......2005-06-27

I was on a tour of Southern Ireland last year, and the tour guide played this as we drove from Dublin to Cork. The first chance I got, I went into a music store and purchased a copy for myself.

The beautiful ballad by Sinead O'Conner is worth the price of admission alone. It is a song to play when you need comforting, and a reminder that everything will indeed get better. The tour guide shared with me that he purchased it for that song alone.

Everytime I play it my mind goes back to that tour and watching the beautiful green hills and small villages of Ireland go by.

Buy this one...you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 stars Moving.......2005-02-05

A friend gave me this last week. It's hard to stop playing it. "This Is To Mother You," "Fields of Gold," and "Down To The River To Pray" are especially moving. I highly recommend this CD.

4 out of 5 stars A Beautifully Satisfying Listening Experience.......2004-09-22

A Woman's Heart 1 and 2 introduced me to a number of wonderful Celtic artists, most notably Dolores Keane. (Like "Mary29" I was also prompted to go out and buy as many of her CD's as I could find.) Though I thoroughly enjoyed all of the songs on "A Decade On" I was completely blown away by "Mystic Lipstick" (written by Christy Moore and sung here by Maura O'Connell), quite possibly the most hauntingly beautiful song I've ever heard. I have to believe the woman in this song is actually Ireland ... "She keeps fools for counsel, she keeps the wig and gown. The cloth and the bloody warfare, the stars and stripes and crown. And still we pray for a better day now, God willing it's for the best. But I've just seen the harp on the penny with a dollar on (...)." The imagery and heartbreak of the lyrics are conveyed perfectly by Maura O'Connell's beautiful interpretation and voice. Worth every penny for this song alone, this is one CD that I'm going to be playing over and over. (And I'll soon be having some Maura O'Connell CD's to keep my Dolores Keane CD's company :-)

4 out of 5 stars An Extraordinary Collection.......2004-05-07

I learnt of this album by listening to RadioCelt.com, and put it on my Christmas wish list on the the buoyant strength of "This is to Mother You" by Sinead O'Connor and the astonishing conviction of "Down to the River to Pray", by Alison Krauss.

I was pleased when my wife gave it to me... until I listened to it. THEN I was completely blown away. The moods range from tender to playful, yet each and every song bears an insight into the sorrows and joys not only of being a woman, but of being a member of the human race. It's an intriguing mix of original work, traditional songs, and covers of other artists' work. Well worth buying!

4 out of 5 stars Graceful.......2004-04-05

I first heard this CD on National Public Radio, possibly on Fresh Air. The pieces they played were beautiful, and on that basis alone, I ordered Vol. 1 and 2 of A Woman's Heart. You will find a wide range of Celtic music, some romantic, some almost to a dance beat. This is trully music from a woman's heart, not trying to out-rock the men. Enjoy it while it is still available. it's so tender, it may go out of style.

4 out of 5 stars Flowers blossom.......2005-06-30

This album took awhile to grow on me but when it did it sprouted into the most beautiful of flowers. Liam has blossomed as a singer especially on "Peace Tonight" I caught "the Flowers" on a tour in Columbus Ohio in 2003 and was mesmerized by them. Rock stars they are not. They return music to the people and bring the audience into the fold. This confused a bit of the crowd who are used to passively watching a performance. "The Flowers" invited their fans onstage for a sing along to "Don't GO' from "People" and clearly delighted in the antics of their fans on the mic and on the stage. Music as it should be as a celebration rather than a product.

5 out of 5 stars Great comeback by the "Flowers"!.......2005-05-20

"Into Your Heart" is a fantastic comback album by Hothouse Flowers after a long absence. "The End of the Road" is my favorite song in the collection and the reason I purchased the CD to begin with, but all of the songs grow on you quickly, especially "Your Love Goes On" and "Feel Like Living" (all written by Peter O'Toole by the way). The Flowers may be a little older, but they have certainly grown sweeter with age.

5 out of 5 stars Modern soul by outstanding musicians..........2005-03-05

I'm a longtime fan of Hothouse Flowers and was very pleased to learn that they're on tour in America in support of this album. However, as I really hadn't listened to any recordings since the outstanding "Songs from the Rain" in 1993, I didn't know what to expect. This CD stands equally alongside "People" and "Songs from the Rain" as my personal favorites. The songwriting and arrangements on "Into your Heart" are tops and Liam has really extended his vocal range, incorporating diverse singing styles. It all works and flows together very beautifully. In my opinion, this album is about connecting with the energy of life: love and soul. Give a listen to "Your Love Goes On", "Peace Tonight", "Feel Like Living", and "Santa Monica".

4 out of 5 stars Nice to have them back, a grand CD, now GO SEE THEM LIVE!!!.......2004-10-25

First off, I admit it, I am a huge Flowers fan. I bought this CD as an import from Ireland the day it was released. What makes this Cd so special to me each member of the band wrote for this, with a very strong presence of the writing skills of Bass-mandolin-12 string guitar player Peter Ó Toole. Each song is a moment in time, a story. Each one breathes life. It is worth your money to buy this even just for the 2nd track "End of the Road" as far as I am concerned this is the best song about relationshhips ending, and trying to hold on, but knowing you have to let go. This song is amazing. Another standout track is "Magic Bracelets" a song written for, and inspired by the late Joe Higgs, reggae master, vocal teacher to Bob Marley, and from what I gather a closet Irishman. The opening track "Your Love Goes on" is a blistering bit of dancable funky. The Dublin Gospel Choir backs up on a few tracks including "Hallelujah", my only complaint is that they got produced out a bit, they could have brought the volume of the choir up a really good bit, it is nice but sounds to far away and wispy. Wispy is not a word I like to use to dscribe a gospel choir. Nice thought though. I wanted to hear the choir at full throttle and the female lead doing vocal soulful battle with Mr. Ó Maonlai, that would have been utterly perfect now wouldn't it have been?. I say buy this CD, and when the Flowers are in your area, GO SEE THEM LIVE. 'cause that is what it is all about. I love their music, but have yet to hear a CD that comes even close to the worst gig live. They were meant to be heard in person.
The best note on this CD is the last track "Sí Do Mhamo I" the final track on "Into Your Heart" it was recorded live at First Ave. in Minneapolis, and the electricity and excitement of a live gig comes through without being overly produced or tweedled with. I find myself playing this track over and over and over.
Why a 4 not a 5? Needs a couple more rocking tracks, needs to have been under-produced a good bit. OK enough of that! BUY IT! Then BUY TICKETS and go see them live!!!!! You will be changed.

In the 19th century, immigrants from Scotland settled on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, which, because of its geographical isolation, allowed the musical traditions of those first settlers to pass to future generations essentially free of outside influences. In the 1970s, people began to realize that many tunes, instrumental techniques, and dance steps that are extinct in Scotland were alive and thriving in Cape Breton. The Heart of Cape Breton, recorded in 2000, gathers some of the finest traditional fiddlers on Cape Breton, including Jerry Holland, Brenda Stubbert, Jackie Dunn MacIsaac, Buddy MacMaster, Wendy MacIsaac, and Kinnon Beaton. All of the tracks were recorded live at dances and concerts, and although you can occasionally hear the shuffle of dancing feet in the background, the sound only acts as a reminder that the masterful fiddling on the jigs, reels, strathspeys, and flings is designed to get you out of your chair and onto the dance floor. --Michael Simmons

Album Description

With a culture deeply influenced by 19th century Scottish emigration, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, is widely celebrated for its fiddle music. Profoundly rooted in old Scottish tradition, the music is increasingly moving to center stage in the contemporary Celtic revival, as seen in the popularity of Cape Breton fiddlers Natalie MacMaster and Ashley MacIsaac. This CD features some of the best known and most admired Cape Breton fiddlers, with piano and guitar accompaniment in the island's distinct style. The sound of the island is alive in these exciting performances, recorded live at dances and concerts in Cape Breton during the summer of 2000. This is the real thing-- master fiddlers playing in the heart of the tradition, along the Ceilidh Trail.

5 out of 5 stars Feels like you're in Cape Breton!.......2002-03-03

Being a fan of Cape Breton Fiddle Music, I always enjoy hearing performers in concert. The energy of a live show just can't be matched as a fiddler's performance is greatly influenced by the audience, the venue, the atmosphere, etc. There are numerous fiddle CD's on the market, yet it's difficult to capture that live sound in studio when recording. Well, there's now a CD available that was recorded live in Cape Breton, known around the world as one of the best places to hear fiddle music. This recording is "The Heart of Cape Breton: Fiddle Music Recorded Live Along The Ceilidh Trail."

The "Ceilidh Trail" is what Route 19, along the west coast of Cape Breton in Inverness County, is referred to as. There are probably more musicians in this area's population than anywhere else in the world. Natalie MacMaster, The Rankins and Ashley MacIsaac were all born and raised in this area.

In the summer of 2000, Burt Feintuch & Pete Reiniger, spent a week in Cape Breton recording several musicians at dances, arenas, and concerts in Inverness County for a Smithsonian Folkways Recording.

The venues recorded at include the Ceilidh Trail School, the Port Hood Arena, the Mabou Hall, the Broad Cove Scottish Concert, the Glencoe Mills Hall and the Brook Village Hall. The recordings include the sound of audiences dancing at the Glencoe Mills Hall and the sound of a caller at the Mabou Hall.

We hear some of the best known and admired Cape Breton fiddlers as well as the Cape Breton style of piano and guitar accompaniment. The performers include Brenda Stubbert, Brian Doyle, Richard Wood, Jackie Dunn-MacIsaac, Wendy MacIsaac, Kinnon & Betty Lou Beaton, Jerry Holland, Allan Dewar, Buddy MacMaster and Joey Beaton.

The rhythm, drive and energy of these musicians comes across in this wonderfully put together recording. For those unfamiliar with the island and its history, there are extensive notes in the CD booklet, which is quite rare to find these days. As well as the history of the island, the musicians background is included as well as a list of the tunes played in each set.

Reels, strathspeys, jigs - this is dance music at its best. You can even hear the dancers feet in the background. In the summer you can find a dance every night of the week in the communities around the island - some people even pack in more than one dance a night!

One of the venues recorded at was the Ceilidh Trail School. This school is located in Inverness and every summer offers instruction in the Cape Breton style of fiddle, piano and guitar. In this particular week, Brenda Stubbert, Richard Wood and Brian Doyle were the teachers.

The Port Hood Arena is a relatively new venue for dancers and Wendy MacIsaac & Jackie Dunn-MacIsaac were the performers on this evening. We hear them first in a set that was played while visitors were coming into the venue and then later on we hear them performing for the dancers.

It used to be in Cape Breton that there would be callers for the dancers but nowadays it's usually just the musicians on the stage and the dancers on the floor doing the sets that are engrained in their feet. However, on this particular evening we hear Own D. Gillis prompting a dance at the Mabou Hall with Kinnon & Betty Lou Beaton performing.

Besides the summer dances, there are also annual concerts. One of these is the Broad Cove Scottish Concert, just outside of Inverness. Jerry Holland & Allan Dewar were captured live in this setting. Starting off with a lament, composed by Jerry, the energy then picks up with some strathspeys and reels.

If you're a fan of the music, you will recognize many of the tunes, as they can be heard being played on the world stage by performers such as Natalie MacMaster. But they can also have the same energy on the small stages back home.

One of the most popular dance venues in Cape Breton is the Glencoe Mills Hall, which for people from away, seems like it's in the middle of nowhere. If you saw Natalie MacMaster's recent CBC TV special, she describes how to get to this hall and they show her performing here. On this CD, her uncle Buddy MacMaster is featured on fiddle along with Joey Beaton on piano.

Over 70 minutes of live music, this CD is a brief, accurate look at what you'd hear if you spent a summer on the west coast of Cape Breton. This CD is the real thing - the real music in its real setting.

    Product Description

For her latest solo harp recording Kim has selected pieces mainly from the rich repertoire of Irish and Scottish airs and songs. Kim interprets both classic melodies—If I Were A Blackbird, Loch Lomond, and The Selkie—and some lesser-known gems —Sleep Soond I’da Moarnin’, Ghosts of Gight, and Dark Woman of the Mountains. The recording also features Kim’s arrangement of a section of Gustav Holst’s “The Music of Jupiter” from his inspired work The Planets. Additional selections include two compositions by Robert Burns, Ae Fond Kiss and Jamie, Come Try Me, and Robert Tannahill’s Are You Sleeping, Maggie? As on her previous recordings Kim combines superb artistry with a passionate sense of tradition, bringing a contemporary touch to a centuries-old instrument.

    5 out of 5 stars A Woman's Heart (Volume 2).......2005-02-04

The second A Woman's Heart cd is no less tear-provoking, gorgeous, and uplifting than the first. This album is possibly a little less soulful than volume one, but no less enrapturing and involving.

With sixteen beautiful Celtic songs sung by the same group from the first A Woman's Heart, this is not to be missed. It draws you in from the very beginning. The first time I heard this, I wasn't really listening and did not like it much, but the second time it tore my heart out. I couldn't list my favorites if I tried, because it would be all of them. This is one of those rare albums you turn on and just let go-there's nothing to skip over.

It's like a journey that will change your life. Just go down the path of this healing Celtic music-it really will soothe your soul.

    5 out of 5 stars Woman's Heart 2.......2003-02-05

I think this album rates up there with the first compilation released a decade ago. The stand out track is Poison Tree by Marcia Howard and Mary Black and it is clear to see why it was lifted as the first single. It is a fine collaboration by two outstanding singers and signifies the powerful forces at work within this album. If you only buy one c.d. this year make sure it's this one and if you have any change left over buy the single for your best friend. This is music as real as it gets.

3 out of 5 stars Hard to improve on perfection.........2001-12-07

I purchased this CD after falling in love with the first Woman's Heart. That was and still is, one of my favorite CD's.

I purchased Woman's Heart 2 and I guess I was expecting it to be as great as the first one. There are some good tracts, but none that stood out that much,in my mind. I seldom play it. A good CD, but not a great one.

5 out of 5 stars Roll on Woman's Heart 3!.......1999-02-02

If you liked the first one you'll equally love this. There's a bit more variety and all the songs grow on you very quicky. Still getting played regulary here in Belfast.

5 out of 5 stars Just as fabulous as A Woman's Heart (1).......1998-09-26

This is a wonderful CD, very relaxing. I loved A Woman's Heart and this is just as great. A wonderful mix of artists, Dolores Keane is the best, as well as Frances Black and Maura O'Connell.

    Album Description

2007 album from the modern British Prog/Folk Rock act. With little or no promotion, Mostly Autumn have grown to become one of the UK's leading live acts selling out venues in the UK and Europe. Their musical palette is diverse and while they draw on influences from 70's rock such as Deep Purple and even Pink Floyd, they have their own distinctive style. From heavy guitars, atmospheric soundscapes, hook driven melodies and honest romantic lyrics. Mostly Autumn 2007.

    3 out of 5 stars Ummmmm - Forgettable actually.......2007-07-22

The first reviewer docked one point for the lack of Angela's Tullish Flute. I have docked an extra star. It was with the release of "Passengers" that I gained interest in this band and immediately purchased their earlier Celtic influenced albums. Wow! I wasnt expecting that. I really enjoyed those as well. Songs like "Shenanigans" really pumped me up with its mix of fiddles etc combining a Rock element. I was never interested in other Celtic Pop/Rock music like Steelye Span etc, but this, sounded good. We were also offered the likes of the beautiful vocal talents of Heather Findlay with epic songs like "The Last Climb" , "Hollow" and "Evergreen" and monumental guitar solos in the likes of "Heroes never die" etc. With Passengers, there was a noticeable shift in their musical direction and the advertising in Rock Magazines even had Rick Wright (Pink Floyd Keyboard Player) singing their praises "I've just heard this great new band". Heart full of Sky is a step backwards. There are no songs that grabbed me the way any of their previous albums did. I honestly can't see this album being in my Stereo for a while. I tried to get into it, but could'nt.

5 out of 5 stars Best So Far.......2007-06-12

I have every CD that this group has made, and this is by far their best effort! Every song is unique; they play heavy and at times mellow out; I like the variety. I also like the variety of instruments used, and the vocals sound great!

4 out of 5 stars Cold Day's, Warm Nights, Mostly Autumn..........2007-04-10

I will be brief, I discovered this band a couple of months ago and haven't stoped raving about them since. My favorite type of music is the blending of prog and classical elements with a folk core. If you like the Floydian style of the past, mixed with beautiful female vocals (Heather Findlay as always,) not to mention co-leader Bryan Josh's great guitar and vocals, you know what to expect. However, the main reason I dock this one a star is that there seems to be less and less of Angela Gordon, who is the woodwind player of the group. To me, she gave alot of their eariler material a very distinct English folk sound, and adds that Jethro Tull element. I can only hear her on one track here. The rest is more and more being replaced by guest fiddlers. That is the only complaint to an otherwise fine cd.
