THIS CD IS WONDERFUL!! I REMEMBER MY MOM BUYING THIS ALBUM IN GERMANY AND IT WAS PLAYED SO MUCH WE ALL KNEW EVERYSONG JUST BY THE FIRST NOTES. CONSIDERING I WAS ONLY 10 AT THE TIME THAT SAYSALOT. I WAS SO PLEASED TO FIND THESE SAME MELODIES WITH
JUST A FEW ADDED ON AMAZON.COM!! WHEN IT CAME IT WAS A SUPRISE FOR MY GERMAN FAMILY IT HAS BEEN PLAYING IN THE HOUSE, IN THE CAR, AND WHILE WORKING ON THE COMPUTER I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT IT. If you are looking for that pure polka sound, you won't find it here. This CD blends three styles: polkas, marches, and "Hooked on Classics". That's a good combination for those of us who like a strong beat combined with a good melody. The tempo resembles that of Polish polkas, a bit slower than German or American. Recording quality is spectacular, even on a small boombox. Though apparently recorded in 1971, there is none of that "re-released" sound. You'd better enjoy the instruments, because there are no vocals on any of these. The first track, Trompeten-Muckl, is better known as the Clarinet Polka. All 18 tracks are thoroughly enjoyable.

Old time Polka.......2001-05-08

I've purchased three James Last albums, including both his concert tour CDs and this CD, and this one might be the best. This is classical polka music, just like on the Lawrence Welk shows, but with superior audio quality and extraoridinary trumphet playing throughout. The music is fast paced from the very start with Trompeten Muckl, a tremendous trumphets work, with a country flavor. Shutzenliegel is majestic in its quality with the blaring sounds of an entire orchestra. Those are my favorites, but the entire CD is full of instrumentals, that any polka lover will appreciate.
