5 out of 5 stars Desirable, insatiable, wonderful!.......2005-02-06

What a sensual song! I heard this the first time on TV some time ago on one of the music channels I was flicking through and I just had to buy it as I liked it so much.

Darren Hayes has a really unusual voice, it puts you on edge, makes you feel dreamy and kind of sleepy but in a nice way.

I love the lyrics, especially as they are very subtle in their sexiness.

This is smoochy romantic song for all the lovers in the world, a good buy for Valentine's Day now that I think about it!

5 out of 5 stars But I thought Michael Jackson sang this at first hearing........2005-02-05

That is what happens when you hear something in the background. I originally heard this song playing somewhere and thought it was Michael Jackson, especially through the chorus.
I picked up this single in order to sell it but I needed to test it becasue the disc had some blemishes and I wanted to test it for any problems. The only "problem" I had was that I really liked it and now may not sell it.
In it's original form the song is great. Romantic and sexy come to mind when I hear it. It has a plesant feel and sound.
Now for the remixes: Unlike some maxi single, the remixes tend to get monotonous and boring. Calderone's mix is the one I think I heard in the background when I first heard this. The remix does not come off as someone just trying to "milk it" for a long time, it seems balanced between music and vocal. The same seems to be the case for the versions. Also, the song sits well with all of it's renderings, as if anyone on the them could have been the original version except perhapt the Let It Go mix, this mix is basically a dub. Agian, it is creative and makes for a good alternate mix.

5 out of 5 stars Darren and Vic Calderone.......2005-01-04

All EDITS COMPLIMENTS of "CD NOW"
What a team....what a song...what a REMIX. This song is now a tad on the older side, however when I do listen to it, on a Cd I have made from the past, I get a great feeling inside. Victor Calderone is just about one of the best mixers around. cetering to the Straight and Gay Club community. This is a MUST if you are a D.H. fans, as well as a Calderone fanatic, as he has worked with just about every HUGE name star there is. His mixing ability adds so much depth, and allows you to keep your feet tapping and singing along as this mis is FULL VOCALS with that typical GREAT Calderone edge of drop off's and then a MASSIVE build up. It is GREAT. Sorry If I am edited out, since the words "Not so straight" sound silly CD Now does not like the word "G.." BUT that is how life is, in a world where THAT word in in the dictionary, and accepted by "most" people, at least you the reader, AND consumer, know where to drop the $$$$ for a monster Club driven Anthem. Hope this is of help in your decision process, this Maxi CD is excellent Jason Prof DJ

5 out of 5 stars Insatably Addictive.......2002-12-04

A loving fan of Savage Garden, I instantly fell in love with Darren's Insatiable. The lyrics and original sound are just as beautiful as Darren's voice. The remixes are uniquely transformed into first a Caldorone Club Mix that leaves you wanting to turn up the volume and dance all night long. Then,The Pablo Larosa's Funktified Mix leaves you feeling lost in a dance club dream hearing Darren's voice . The Specificus 'Insomniac' Mix feels moody, dramatic, and slowly builds throughout. The 'dp vesus Darren Hayes' Mix just keeps it moving right along , at first just the beat and melody alone take you in. Then once again his voice just takes over mixed with a beautiful melody. The ending speeds up just enough to prepair you for the finale~ The Specificus 'Let It Go' mix not only takes a song filled with lyrics that are both romantic and erotic, but it adds a sound that will take what is left of your breath away. Hearing Darren's voice singing ''Let It Go''with the haunting melody in the backround takes you into a dreamland. Added to that the lyrics, ''Breath in,breath out,I've let it go''....will leave you hypnotized and dizzy. It's seductive & enchanting. Much like Darren himself.

5 out of 5 stars Keeps spinning and spinning in my cd player!!.......2002-11-16

The original album version is just breathtaking, with sexy lyrics and sang by the sexy unique touching voice of Darren Hayes. The other five remixes are very unique on its on, I especially like the remixes done by Specificus, when listening to the Insomniac Mix it feels like it has taken you to a twilight zone, and the Specificus Let It Go Mix, those percussion and drum beats, with Darren's voice at the background just sets you heart pounding!! I personally don't like remixes, but this remix single is just an exceptional one!!

Album Description

22 tracks of pure GG assembled by GG's brother, Merle, and original executive producer, Mykel Board.

From the All Music Guide:
This is a compilation of live performances from various points in his career. Of course it's missing a great deal of relevant information and the recording quality is crude. This is probably the best place to be introduced to the demented moron who made obscenity a political statement, as he was still possessed of an intelligible voice on these recordings. He can even carry a tune on the earlier tracks, unthinkable to those familiar only with his later work. His between-song banter with the audience is hilariously stupid. It features guest appearances from Dinosaur Jr.'s J. Mascis and the MC5's Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thompson. Most of Allin's earlier recordings are out of print, so if you're a fan, find this. — Steve Huey

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars a good introduction to his legacy.......2006-12-25

For those who have only heard about GG Allin, heard about him crapping on stage, kicking and punching his audience members while yelling at them for not understanding him, drinking his own urine and spitting it out back at the audience, chasing women in the audience while yelling "I wanna rape you", making it clear that he hates everyone while declaring war on underground punk because "I don't fit in with anyone", maybe you've even seen footage of him doing all these things but the bad bootleg quality made it difficult to actually hear the songs he screamed, then Hated in the Nation is a good start for you. Why? Well while many people think that his early stuff with the Jabbers (his first album "Always Was, Is, and Always Shall Be" 1980) is the only good material GG ever put out, and yes his stuff with the Jabbers was tight, the problem was that it was too tight. GG hadn't become the crazy nihilist that we know him as now. He was rather tame and one of the Jabbers recently said "the only thing GG did that was shocking back then was go to church with his wife every Sunday".

Hated in the Nation is a good middle ground between newer and older GG because it contains good punk rock up there with the Jabbers while also containing the angry vulgar and violent lyrics that we expect from later GG Allin. His backing bands at this time were the Scumfucs and the Cedar St Sluts (a girl band). This is classic GG. Even better, the album also contains live samples of GG doing some lengthy rants at the audience. My only problem with this album is that the rants usually don't fit the theme of the song that comes after the sample rants. "Any girls that want to get raped, you should be sitting in the front row here" but then the album breaks out into the song "Gimme Some Head" when it should break out into "I wanna Rape you". Another sample of him talking about being a teachers pet and having sex with his teacher was nice, but the song breaks out into "Sluts in the City" when it should break out into "Teachers Pet". "I Wanna Rape You" and "Teachers Pet" are both good classic GG songs but neither appears on this album. I would also prefer the Scumfucs version of "D, F, & F" rather than the New York Superscum remake version that appears on this compilation. Among Cedar St Sluts songs, I think Bad Habbits should have been on here and not Sluts in the City. Bad Habbits is better both musically and lyrically.

5 out of 5 stars An awesome album of the king of SCUM GG Allin!!.......2004-04-25

This is not a studio album. It is, in fact a compilation of studio tracks and live material from 3 or 4 different performances. Still it lives in my mind as one of, if not THE BEST GG Allin album. This was my first GG album purchased in 91' when I was only 11 ( no wonder I'm so @#$%ed up!) and I STILL listen to it all the damn time. The version I bought back then didn't have the three bonus tracks thats on the current version though so your getting an even better deal now.
I love so many of the songs on this album, all of them in fact, but some I just love so much better than others. If your allready a GG fan, Cool, trust me, buy this album, its not just another live reshash of previously released stuff. Its quality merits it its own status as a full album. For those of you who have never listened to GG, this would be a PERFECT place to start. Go ahead, take a chance on the other side...whats the matter? Afraid you might like it?
This album needs to be preserved and shown to all the future generations of de-generates and juvenile wastoids just like it was to me back in 91' in Thrasher magazine. After I read the article I just had to go out and find the album. And my life has just gone steadily downhill ever since....Mission Accomplished!!

3 out of 5 stars got poop?.......2003-12-20

i'm in a quandry as to how to address this disc. on one hand, redeeming social value of any kind is absent, musically its either generic hardcore or sluggish metal, & lyrically its about as offensive as possible. this cd is the aural equivalent of being thrown up on. on the other hand, a lot of it is kinda fun! the in between "song" patter (recorded live) is frequently uproarious (i wasn't aware of gg's love of animals until i heard this) and the "songs" recorded early in his career are at least entertaining (classic line: "you tell me to kiss your a--/well bend over buddy, here comes my foot!" - dylan has never written a line as great as that). unfortunately, "tunes" recorded only a few short years later are quite awful: badly recorded, badly played, and badly "sung". most of the reviews for this platter are along the lines of "if you have to get one...", which is about as good of an endorsement as possible for a gg allin cd. so buy it and have a merry christmas beating up your family & pooping on them.

1 out of 5 stars I've heard better.......2003-09-04

This is truly a sad & disgusting CD, filled with vile and degrading lyrics that anyone with a four-letter vocabulary could easily write. Amazingly, a label produced it and people buy it. Don't waste a nickel on this noise.

5 out of 5 stars Worth it, if you can look beyond the past........2006-01-06

For most people, (Actually put simple, majority of Savage Garden fans) they were expecting a lot from Darren and his solo album. I honestly was one of them. I expected another one of those teary ballads that they were famously known for. I guess I expected too much however, if you are a true Savage Garden fan, you'd appreciate the fact that Darren was trying to break away from something that was the past. I personally think this was great single even though it didn't do well on the charts. Slow, enticing and indeed filled with passion. I don't think I could ever get sick of this song. If you love it that much, buy the album as well as the single!

      5 out of 5 stars I'm Adicted.......2002-07-17

I loved Savage Garden, but I realize now what I loved was Darren's voice and style. So sensual... I can listen to these three songs over and over and over again just for the sake of fantasy. Excellent!

5 out of 5 stars Great addition to Spin CD.......2002-05-23

If you already bought Darren's Spin Cd,
don't miss a great opportunity to hear 2 more great songs,
"Ride" and "Falling at your feet "
will be great extention of the album!

      4 out of 5 stars Parents review.......2002-05-11

The music is solid. The song "Spin" is hypnotic. As I told my daughter "I'm afraid this could become a 'get high' CD. She said it isn't.

      5 out of 5 stars Why isn't this song a hit?.......2002-03-24

Looks to me like this song is flopping on the charts. And it looks too like the album will flop as well.

I really don't know why. This song is brilliant. I love it very much. The vocals are off the wall, and the melody is extremely catchy.

      Check it out.

This overview of various types of ska includes some of the best, most fun and danceable music assembled into one collection. Some of the lyrics may offend delicate sensibilities, but it's all in good fun. Best tracks include the infectious "Come On In Sin," the James Bond-themed "Agent 13," the metal-laced "Irish Whiskey," and the hilarious "Hard Up," which is like a Jewish wedding-style ode to unrequited desire.
