When I was a kid this is what we used for "Karaoke".......2002-05-10

Now, the easiest thing in the world is to sing along with your favorite singers when you turn up the volume and can barely hear yourself. You can blend right in. But if you were really gutsy back in the Sixties, then you picked up an instrumental album like this where the only voice you are going to hear singing is your own. So practice with the Association doing "Cherish," the Righteous Brothers singing "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" or "Unchained Melody," or Sonny & Cher's "I Got You Babe" then go solo with these Sam Levine arrangements. The key denominator here is these are all instrumental versions of great songs for singing. We did not have karaoke back in the Sixties, but albums like this were a pretty good substitute. Still, when it is party time most people are going to chicken out, crank up the originals and try to blend in. "Sweet Sounds of the Sixties" is for the brave, the few, the vocally capable.

Sweet Remembering.......2001-08-13

This album was exceptional! I was standing in line at a checkout counter when I heard what sounded like a classical version of Elvis Presley's "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You," and I fell in love with these songs. The album continued to play classical versions of the Righteous Brothers, Richie Valens, and many others. If you like to reminsce, this is definetely the perfect album for you!
