There's a rule in commercial pop: don't bite the hand that feeds you. Translation? If you're getting love on TRL, it's best leaving well enough alone and tinkering only slightly with the sound that pays your bills. So you have to give Pink a whole heap of credit. The Philly-raised songbird may have made her rep with infectious and rugged pop-R&B hits like "There You Go" and the remake of "Lady Marmalade," but like the fuchsia coif she once sported, that sound is gone. In its place is a more driving alt-rock attack, liberally laced with some late-night blues and heartfelt lyrics that, while they sometimes come off like diary entries (the simplistic bon mot "Your pain is painful" in "Family Portrait"), are clearly Pink's thoughts, as opposed to words someone put in her mouth. Helping Pink express her inner Alanis are Dallas Austin, who produced the insistent rocker "18 Wheeler," and former 4 Non Blonde Linda Perry, who Pink has resurrected from one-hit-wonder status. Mixing up thumping beats, ("Get the Party Started"), with folksy confessionals, Pink's potent vocals and her honest determination make this a risk worth hearing. --Amy Linden

Good Cd.......2003-07-25
Amazing!.......2003-01-10
In "Family Portrait," she talks about the fights her parents had when she was younger and surprisingly, it's a very good and meaningful song with a cool beat. "Misery" features legendary Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler. He definitely adds to this blues/jazz type song. "18 Wheeler" is my favorite. It's about telling someone you can hurt me, put me down and "run over me with your 18 wheeler truck," but I'll just get right back up. It really has a positive message. The first single from this album, "Get The Party Started," is a cool dance track, but if it's played over and over, it can get a bit annoying. "Don't Let Me Get Me" is about not liking who you are and how sometimes you wish you could be someone else. "Just Like A Pill" is awesome! It's my second favorite track on the record.
Overall, "Missundaztood" is a wonderful album because Pink wrote all of the songs on here (with the exception of "Get the Party Started," "Lonely Girl" and "Misery") and she only sings about stuff she's dealt with in life. It's a lot different from her 2000 debut, "Can't Take Me Home" because it was mostly pop/R&B music. This time, Pink does it all -- rock, R&B, some pop and even blues.
This limited edition version of the album makes it even better. You get the CD and then you get a bonus DVD with Pink's videos for "Family Portrait" and "Don't Let Me Get Me" and two performances ("Numb" and "Family Portrait").
You won't believe how good this is..........2003-01-06
The extra DVD is pure gravy, with similarly impressive videos. You should buy this for the album, and consider the DVD as dessert.

Album Description
Although she was initially viewed as yet another face in the late-'90s crowd of teen pop acts, Pink quickly showed signs of becoming one of the rare artists to transcend and outgrow the label. This 2 CD set features her debut album Can't Take Me Home, and the follow up Missundaztood. BMG. 2005.Customer Reviews:
