La cambiale di matrimonio is minor Rossini, but it has its pleasant moments, some of which sound suspiciously familiar. A one-act comedy, it deals with the decision of a grasping old Englishman to essentially sell his charming young daughter to a rich oaf from the American colonies. True love prevails, and the oaf turns out to be not such a bad guy after all, signing of his rights to the girl to the man she loves. This is a live recording, and the sound suffers from that in places, but there are some bright, enjoyable performances, particularly from Enzo Dara as the greedy father and Soeun Jeun as his daughter. --Sarah Bryan Miller
